I am really grateful that you got through with this video. I had really huge trouble starting my playthrough as Denmark no matter what I did. It never bothered me to think just to aim for iron and get snowballing that way as I was too focused to just improve the income.

Denmark is such a lopsided start. They have a world-class literacy rate and quite good starting laws and techs, but no resources.
I like how you never touched the Danish West Indies and it reminded one of the richest areas in the kingdom
If you need coal in Africa, I think your best bet are the Boer Republics. You looked at Ressource extraction when searching for coal, but there is also a lense for potential.

BTW you can form a united Polynesia as Hawaii, Tahiti or the United Tribes on north island of NZ. I would love to see a playthrough of that and also more Tahiti content for Victoria 3 in general as i ain’t seen anyone play them yet despite seeing people play as all sorts of difficult start countries like those kingdoms near lake victoria or even Sikhim inbetween Bhutan and Nepal on youtube. I mean Tahiti starts in the French market after all and resources are the biggest thorn Hawaii has and I've seen a lot of videos of people playing them
The first ten minutes is great you play as Denmark using the finish military idea we build up because are neighbors are big and scary

No coal in Iceland in real life, certainly. It’s 100% volcanic. Mines in a continuous earthquake zone is also generally a bad idea.

Check the bottom of South America for a colony to get coal
Personally I really like taking the Zulu lands and their neighbours. There is an absolute ton of coal iron and gold and there is almost no risk as long as you don't piss off Britain.
