Stealth Camping in a Fir Tree 🌲

- Had me a lil stealth camp in a fir tree, making a bug-proof shelter with my DD Travel Hammock Bivi, used as a bivi. I remained undetected despite quite a few people going by on the path a few metres away :) and had a nice night with Owls and some very shouty Muntjacs 🦉🦌
See you soon for Giant Bug Net Camping! :D
Thanks so much for stopping by 😊 and have a Floofy week 🌿🐻 Claire

"Hello Wild ones I'm here for a quickie tonight" Pure Class
Oh, nostalgia... I used to play as a kid in a fir tree. I made small bench inside and a table. This was a good hiding place.😊
I love the sounds of the forest at night. Except when a wild pony sticks it head in the tent looking for snacks.
If that's your bad night in a forest, I'd take it
I like that you hear wildlife. It feels real and not staged.
I love how Excited you get about setting up your nest 😂😂 you go lass .
When I was a kid in Wales I remember being curled up in bed on stormy nights and I would pretend that I was a curlew nestled snug in the long grass or a Kittiwake hunkered down in my nest on the side of a cliff. Now I'm in Canada in bed watching your videos before I turn the light off and go to sleep.
Never miss a video Claire, love your positivity, thank you
Nice to see u out and about with a lovely smile on a lovely day , by a lovely lady. Cheers Claire.
What a lovely place to sleep, under the boughs of a low slung tree. Great idea. Heart warming seeing someone enjoying what has always meant so much to me. The light weight gear worked well. Great video.
What a sweet camp under a tree. I love your ideas for these camps, making them just different enough to stand out from everyone else. There's always a little quirk and that makes watching even more enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next ❤️
Aw thank you Matt, so glad you enjoy them :D have a great week! Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare can I come camp with you?
The time lapse dawn , and the drone shots are spectacular, leaving no trace, and I came back to say, I absolutely loved the way you jumped out of the scene at the end of the video.
I have binge watched so many of your videos this weekend. Your so much fun to watch.
Always love your vids. Inspirational and fun. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Claire! Damn...you did that jump, pop, disappear thingie again. I CANNOT seem to make that work. Heard the POP once when I jumped, but it was just my knee dislocating.😎 Always fun to see a new adventure from you come up in my feed. Thanks for taking us along!👍👍
Always a measure of efficiency and practicality. Well done! Camping in close amongst the pines and spruces is always a great choice as the ground is usually flat and almost always plant free. The exception is when roots are exposed. The thick needle covering is great for concealment and goes far towards keeping camp dry in the rain. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much Steven! Really enjoyed this, the lovely tree really did make a lovely home for the night :) thanks for watching 🌿🐻 Claire
Hi. Love your videos. This reminded me of a hitch hiking trip I did in the 70s and we “discovered” these were perfect places to be out of sight. We had a bivy and when it rained the trees kept off most of the rain. One night we even stayed in a US Forces base in Germany in a line of fir trees!!
Ahh, that sounds lovely 😍 I'd love to try under one in the rain too 🌧 that's amazing that you stayed in trees on a US forces base! 😯😄👏 Thank you so much, so glad you like them, hope you're having a lovely week :) Claire
@@WildBeare It was the 1970s so things were a bit more relaxed then! The next morning we hitched a lift in a truck with a bunch of American soldiers.
Sometimes trees also can act as umbrellas.
Another belter , well done . You make me want to dig the tent out and go for it.
Looks beautiful there, and the forest too.
Stealth Camping always interesting.
Really appreciate your spreading of good vibes in these difficult times ✨🙏✨ Lovely camp ❤️
Thank you 🤗 have a lovely week :) 🌿🐻
Once again a lovely little adventure, great photography too. Keep it up !!
Wonderful simple clear fun ideas for children who would like a little adventure !
When I go for walks I have started to look for little places like this that would make good stealth camps. Makes me feel like a little kid again! Brilliant camp and video. Have a great week 🤗😍
Love this! Thank you, yes it definitely pleases the inner child doesn't it, hope you find some fun places :D and hope you have a lovely week too 🤗💚 Claire 🐻
Thank you Ms. Wild Beare, that was a great quickie. Look forward to the next one. Big respect girl.
Thanks Ian, glad you enjoyed :D 🤗🌿
Thank you Claire for another great video. Love the nature shots as always. Big hug to you and the areas you visit. 🤗
Thank you Thom! Hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿🐻
@@WildBeare At this point I am hoping autumn comes quickly. We tend to get 30 days each summer where we are at 38 to 43C. Our winters we are rarely below 0C. For me it is now a stay indoors and work with the college students as summer classes began this week and print 3D items. As well as spend plenty of time with my fur boys.
Great video as always Claire! A lovely spot to spend the night with the muntjac and tawny owls. Even one calling nearby at breakfast time!
Thank you Tony :D love the owls 🦉
Wonderful vid, I liked the place you picked to stay out of site. Your camp was awesome using the net to keep the bugs off. I have a picture of the new little hot tent I just got and wanted to show it to you but not sure how to get it to you to look at. Thank you for for putting a smile on my face. Take care and enjoy your beautiful outdoors.
Ah what a lovely little camp!! Loved the face paint 😂 great idea to use the hammock on the ground to keep the bugs off! Loving the stealthy bright yellow sleepmat 😂 looked so cozy under that tree though, brilliant! Xx
Haha yeh the bright yellow sleep mat was totally compensated by my amazing face paint though.. I'm surprised you could see me at all 😄 Thanks Pink Lady 💓 See you soooon :D Much love xx
@@WildBeare 😂🥰😘🦋🦋🦋
Fabulous I need to get back out there , yep love the idea of using the hammock on the ground...I gotta get back out there 👍
Took me back to when we were kids playing under the trees. So fun
Adorable comes to mind. Keep up the brilliant works .
Love the videos! Always looks so peaceful on your camps.
What a cool camp! There was a tree similar to that near my house when I was a kid. It offered decent protection against the rain, at least short term. I never spent the night under it but wish I had. Thanks for the video, it made my day!
Aw thank you so much, so glad you liked it :D Mmm I'd like to try this in the rain, with a tiny tarp, see how it goes. Hope you have a lovely week :D Claire 🐻
I'm glad UA-cam keeps recommending me videos from people like you. I had no idea UA-cam had a community like this. I am new to this but I've been getting geared up for next spring. Can't wait, your channel has me really ecstatic about it. Thanks! Love the content
Excellent video. Love the nature calls, so cool.
Here we have Loons, Owls and the Ravens as well. Nothing like the Loons call in the nighttime 😊
Very cosy in that tree! Thanks Claire 😊
😂😂😂 excellent fun video. Lots of wildlife and just excellent conditions, location and company... thank you 😊
Reminds me of my time in the Military. Removing my commo makeup before bed, plait my hair etc. Why the guys nicknamed me Jolene I'll never know. 😉
Fantastic! Love a seaky beaky camp ,there is a guy from the Midlands I think he specialises in sneaky camps ,he does camps on roundabouts! Mad but fun .glad to see you not soaked. Happy days.
Thanks for the video…lots of wild life love it…super awesome spot to pitch…stay safe and take care !!
Love your videos... I was going to comment on stepping up your Leave No Trace skills, but was happy when you re-duffed at the end of the video!
Another excellent one Claire . Thank you
Awesome lil camp as usual wild one, great setup and use of the hammock bivi, thanks for bringing us with you 👍🏽
Thanks Martin, hope you're having a great week :)
First time I’ve just listened to you Wildbeare without watching so that I could get my camping gear together …. So restful and amazing to hear the sounds of the woodland and 🎶
PS Claire sent you a PM re: equipment
I love too hear all the birds in the back ground 🙂 thank you!
One of my favorite pieces of gear that DD Hammock/Bivvy. I've had one for several years now and while it is heavy by comparison to other hammocks I own it is by FAR the most versatile hammock I own. Sling it as a regular hammock, set up with a spreader bar like a bridge hammock, or put it straight on the ground with an air mattress between the bottom layers if inclined to do so. Love it! What a cozy spot inside the trees though.
Awww sweet camp, I love the face paint too, lovely spot to camp x
Another lovely video 😊 Every time I saw a large fir tree as a kid I always thought it would be a really cosy place to sleep. Turns out I was probably right. I think stealth camping really speaks to the inner child and the delight at finding the perfect hiding place. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks Mark, yep that's exactly how I feel about it, deffo satisfies the inner child :D thank you hope you do too :) 🌿Claire🐻
Love all your vids Clarie. You seem to have so much fun. Love it. Take Care Claire.
Hehe thank you Jim, ahh yeh I do, my play time 😄 You too! :) Claire 🐻
Great little hidey-hole. And another great video, loving the slo-mo b-roll. Makes me want to get out there too :)
Thanks so much Steve, it was a cosy lil nook :D happy camping :) 🏕 Claire🐻
That cute baby owl sound so heart warming.
Great camp again we have muntjac noisy blighters come into our garden it's amazing something that small can make such a noise.
What a wonderful experience, Claire. Loved the nature calls during the night. It would be great for you to share what you think they are if, of course, you happen to know. Cheers!
The loud barking noise almost sounded like deer when they snort to get a better smell. I'm not sure if they have those there. But the American whitetail makes a similar noise
🌿Claire 🐻
Love your videos. Always makes me smile, especially the wandering eyes at 4:47.😌😌 Love from France. ❤️
Awesome! We used to do that as kids. Great fun!
Nice little stealth camp (love the face paint). I did one back in March in the Surrey Hills 100m from a main track. Had a great night. Your video makes me want to try that again!
Love way she's says so bootifull . She's so right the world is a beautiful place ❤
Same😂
Thank you for your video.
I'm looking forward to the next one.
Cracking bivi spot find 👌 love a good bivi clears your mind, love your channel 👍
So love these videos, you are an inspiration x
Danke du süße. Das war ein guter Platz zum Übernachten. Im Hintergrund bellte ein Rehbock und ein Kauz gab Rufe, sehr idyllisch!♥️ Finde dich Klasse. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland.
Outstanding video as always Claire.. I always look forward to seeing them. Keep up the good work..!
Thanks so much Bailey! This was fun :) Hope you're having a lovely week 🌿🐻 Claire
Hi Claire what a lovely camp! It looked good fun! Look forward to your bug net camp. Take care Helen & Andy Hogan ♥️🌲xxx
Thanks you guys, have a great week :D Xx
Another cheerful video! Thank you, Claire! A beautiful tree for your shelter; Cedar-like, aren't they. I loved the hooty owl at night, and the pretty little bird songs in the morning! Those Muntjacs though... I don't know... hahahahaha! I see that they even catch YOU off guard sometimes! I was glad to read that you wore some ear plugs to abate the barks. I hope that helped.
Thanks again for another great vid, Claire! It was funny, at the end of it, when you were standing in front of the tree, I waved g'bye to you and then you waved back--made me smile! Thanks for that!
❤
Heyy Russell! Thanks yes he was a beautiful big boy 🌲 Those Muntjacs were crazy 😄 I'm so used to them now but I've never had one suddenly bark so close to me before, scared the life outta me haha! The ear plugs were amazing and I couldn't hear anything at all, but it did make me feel unnerved.. I don't like not hearing anything. On my next camp I tried having one in one ear, which I preferred as it cut the noise down but I could still hear. Thanks for watching my lil vid, love that we waved at each other haha! Wishing you a wonderful day :) 🌿Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare Yes, I completely understand how it can be unnerving, not hearing anything. The "one-plug" idea is a good compromise. I tend t only use the plugs when it is either raining hard or when it is very windy. Thanks again for the happiness you bring to me (and the rest of the world). You do good! Have a beautiful day, Claire!! 😊Russ
Fab vid. You are very brave to wild camp in this type of location. Well done, keep it up.
You had me at, quicky. I kinda like your quickies! 😮
I live in rural - ish, NW Essex and we have an owl that occasionally pays us a visit from the nearby wood. He like to perch in the Silver Birch in our front garden and serenade us from time to time. Usually at dusk. Sometimes round midnight. Fortunately our Muntjacs - such as they are - are more restrained.
Wonderful and inspiring, Beautifully made as usual
Thank you 💚 :)
So genuine, love these vids
Haha, the muntjac bark. Took my son for his first bivvy at my old scout campsite in August. 2am, both woken by very loud barking and he was terrified!! It hung about for around twenty minutes. Interesting night.
wow, I really like to try this one out everytime I passby a Fir tree with a big space underneath, thanks a lot for showing me
Great video showing stealth camping. And even better once the face paint came off! Keep up the good work and I’ll try to keep watching and giving you likes! 👍👍✌️❤️
Had to double take when you said out for a quicky… cheeky girl!
Always enjoy your videos when im stuck indoors
Some very good editing. great music..goes very well with nature. must be a great vibe near the tress and with all that wildlife. Keep on keeping on. Onward and upwards!
Thanks so much :D 💚🌿
I plan on hiking the mountain to sea trail and stealth camping wherever I end up. Great video!
I hear that fox "barking" near your camp...they can sound spooky but they are just calling their friends! I have several foxes on our property....they can get loud!LOL! Another awesome video and a great camp! Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoy your videos! Thank you for sharing. Hope you make it to the states someday for a few camping trips.
Looked a great little camp 👍
Awesome locale Claire... certainly did remind me of the “Portal to Narnia”.
Another great vid!....Nice vibe and chilled.x
I love hearing the owls, my last one i did local and i could hear so many owls at night, i pitched at 10pm under red light as i was on farmers land so i couldnt see alot around me, when i woke up i realised i was camping in a bird sactuary and there were bird watchers in a tent not far from me, that was a fun morning cuppa
Nice little spot you made all from cutting some dead branches and clearing the floor. Lovely.
So cool and so much fun!😉
Hi, new to the channel. Absolutely love it. Can't wait to get out camping now, you are an inspiration. Thanks 💐
Hi Will! 👋 Welcome to my lil channel, I'm so glad you like it :) Thanks so much for your kind words and happy camping! 🌿 Claire 🐻
Another lovely video Claire, nice one :)
Thank you for sharing your experiences!😊
I'm a fan from Melbourne, Australia. I always look forward to your videos.
Nice lil vid Claire. 👍🏻
I’ve not long brought the OEX Leviathan, only had 1 night in it so far and wasn’t that impressed!
Had to put an extra layer on in the early hours when it got down to around +3 degrees, and when I awoke both myself and my tent were covered in feathers.. It also got damp and lost all of it’s loft, which is why I guess I got cold.
Very annoying indeed, decided I’m taking mine back today!!
I’ll be looking at buying the Alpkit SkyeHigh 900 instead, when they are back in stock…
I've never been camping, I never will, I wouldn't know where to start or what to do etc, and I certainly wouldn't feel safe... but I love these and other videos, watching people enjoying the outdoor life...great clips, well edited Claire...well done and thanks 👍🏽
Oh boy, that tree/those trees are amazing! 😊
Looks like a cozy place to stay.
Nice work, ma'am 👍🏻
Thank you, yep I love them :D 💚🌲
Fabulous little sneaky camp Claire. Loved the bivvy idea and face paint, Pocahontas would be proud 😉😊 thanks for another wonderful video, take care.
Hehe thanks so much Tony! Hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿 Claire 🐻
I'll contribute this again for dealing with Bugs.. My Mother taught me this long before we had Deet.. It is a Peppermint Spray since BUGS HATE PEPPERMINT. I carry it in a small plastic spray bottle on all my trips... It works for me and American Bugs hate it.. Buy a bottle of Distilled Water. I buy a quart. Empty some out say about a quarter. Using Cheap Vodka pour in enough to almost fill it. Add PURE NATURAL PEPPERMINT OIL, I use 20 drops.. Shake it up.. The Vodka breaks tension between the water and the oil forcing it to mix... Pour it into your Spray Bottle... Added Benefit! Spiders run from it.. So I spray my Garage and around the Baseboards of my house... No Spiders and rarely any Ants....
You are the ideal camp companion . Happy goes a long way. Take care
I can only leave the house (Leicestershire) to visit doctor's/hospital now (only 57) thank you for taking myself and others with you on your adventures. It's great therapy tinged with sadness. Your voice and personality are so endearing. Continue to love your life💕
Love the tawny owl at the croissant !
Now , that camp beats the heck out of that nasty mountain stuff. Glad you had a relaxing no drama overnighter . I think that is great putting the hammock bivy on the ground , good thinking . HA ,ha ,on the face paint , watch it your inner child is showing . Good to see your smiling face enjoying life . Be safe. Oh what was that loud animal sound you recorded .
Excellent video Claire! That looked like a fun lil' overnighter and a very cool place for a stealth camp. Thanks for taking the time to share your adventures my friend :) I hope that you have an awesome weekend! Stay wild.... -John
Hi John! Aw thanks so much :) I had a great weekend, met Karen of Karen's Gone Wild, who is awesome :D and had a quick trip to the Peaks, first time there so nice to explore somewhere new. Hope you had a great one too! 🌿🐻 Claire
@@WildBeare Hey Claire! You're more than welcome :) That's so awesome that you got to meet up with Karen for an adventure together! I can definitely relate to how nice it always is to explore somewhere new :D I'll certainly be on the lookout for that video if/when you share it. My weekend was great... thank you by the way. I got to get out for a few days of backpacking in one of my favorite places :) Wishing you an amazing rest of your week my friend! Cheers.... -John
Nice secluded spot , very neat camping in there !! Great video. !!!
Gosh you're a real little sunbeam. Full of life and a delight to behold. A Natural...I haven't tried camping solo myself. The last time I went camping was at the Scout Sanjam in 1989. I regret to say that maybe you were not even born then. I like to think of myself as young though...You're also very brave may I add. I suppose you are used to much flattery being so pretty. Lovely shots of nature...I also love owls. I have not heard of the other creatures you noted having seen. Nature's always full of surprises...
Thanks for sharing Clairebear ❤️
I just love seeing your videos. They are so well made. I've been watching a lot of your videos from newest to oldest and it fun to watch how far you have come with your camping skills. Nice map skills as well. Little tip, if you find a stiff branch with 3 limbs forking out you can cut the forked limbs leaving around 6 to 10 inches makes for a nice broom. For the pine needles the limbs would have to be fairly stiff but for leaves not so much. Makes clearing out a bed area very quick and also helps when you need to gather some leaves for shelter building or bedding. Give it a try sometime I think it will help. Thanks and have fun!
Hi Greg! 👋 Ahh thanks so much, so glad you like them, yep I'm learning a lot all the time, it's good fun
Oooh.. that's a great idea! I hope to try this :D (can't promise I'll do a very good job of it 😄 but will be great if I can make one that works)
Thanks so much for the inspiration and for watching my videos, appreciate it :) have a lovely week 🌿 Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare I know you love a spot of whiskey sometimes. That's what I do. I make bourbon. I work at a distillery here in the states. It's called Buffalo Trace and we are the most awarded distillery here in the states. We make several fine bourbons. You should give Blanton's bourbon a try sometime. I'm sure you will love it!
