I personally like getting auto reflect as soon as i can so that i can have vivi bounce a spell off of my entire party for 4 times the dmg. i like to call it the mage cannon
TheLionheart198 funny to see I wasn’t the only person who came up with this trick. I think it’s just 3 or 3.2 times the damage or something though, multicast deals less damage to each target than using singlecast
Forget Auto-Reflect, I always did this as soon as Eiko gets Carbuncle. Instant 9999 damage even with an -ara level spell. It made short work of the Desert Palace boss I can say that much.
@@leargamma4912 You get the gem (Ruby) that is used in teaching Carbuncle summon to Eiko just by playing the story onwards. It's the eidolon that guards Iifa Tree and when you go there first time after visiting Madain Sari (Eiko's home village) and recruiting Eiko to party, she'll extract Carbuncle out of the stone altar near Iifa Tree enterance and you get an accessory item Ruby
I have Crystal Chronicles on GameCube but haven't ever got that far into it... But if we're talking worst FF games (out of the ones I've played)... I'd rather play Tennis with my own excrement than play 13 again. and I hate Tennis. I know, I know, _hot takes_ , but it really is that bad.
For another secret, if you find yourself too low a level for the final boss, the path immediately before it has an invisible save point tucked in the top right corner, and one of the enemies (the one that is not a behemoth) drops tents so you can infinitely train and heal for free! Decent exp as well.
Fav thing to do was place reflect on everyone and group target high level magic at myself and watch everything drop like flys, bonus points for casting reflect on any self healing boss to have cure spells pushed back onto you!
Correction - impressing all 100 nobles isn't enough to get the moonstone in the opening. You have to also impress queen Branhe (sp?), Which is even harder 🤣
I think he was just calling regen, regain not trying to pronounce regen. When you play various RPG's you sometimes habitually call certain spells, stats etc by one name even if they change from game to game. I sometimes find myself calling Blizzard, Ice due to the first RPGs I played calling Ice spells Ice. Though he did pronounce "ether" as "eth-er" when it's more closer to "ee-thur".
Yeah, I pointed it out because I used to do similar things, like I would say "chick-a-boo" and "guy-gas" for gigas. People saying "man-nah" instead of "mah-nah" still bothers me, but it's a lost cause trying to get them to stop referring to the food Yahweh gave the Jews instead of the Pacific Island term for the universal spirit.
I struggled for HOURS te get Robe of Lords in disc one in a Low Level Game on my PS1. But I did it, at the end, my time counter was at 97 hours on disc 1.
You could have also included the XP farm for Grand Dragon near the cave in Burmecia. The dragons are base lvl. 60 and at the time you characters are probably 10+. Just activate the 9999 dmg booster and kill them in 2 hits. You'll lose maybe 2 characters each time to his attacks just make sure you save before each battle cause he can also wipe your whole team with thunderga if he uses it first. You can easily get to lvl. 40+ with this trick. With at least those characters anyways. Then just come back later for the others.
you dont need the booster for grand dragon farming theres a different way to kill them thats just as easy. Anyway grand dragons arnt in this video because there going to be in a different video.
It's the only reward worth getting. Order of importance Freya > Zidane >>>>>>>Vivi. Regardless of what was said in this video you get can get the Theater Ship card via chocobo treasure hunting and locations of even the most hidden treasures are easy to find now with things like UA-cam.
You need put trick, target auto haste in early game at treno, so all your character will have auto haste if u get in early game,, auto haste is realy good item, can speed up atb a lot,, save and load nonstop until treno announce that item,,, i forgot what auto haste item,, get that for sure!!
I tried the timer trick with Chocobo Hot & Cold and it still takes forever and a day to get the Robe of Lords. I always find too many items that he makes me stop, but still the amount of points you get is still too small. It does not take less than an hour!
Well, given as how all of those are for all players I won't complain. There is however a little secert some people don't know about. At the very start of the game, when you get Vivi the guy in the ticket both gives you some cards. However, if you go meet Tom imeadately afterwards you can do a very minor sidequest to get more. He wants you to find his cat, which is in the plaza by the fountain.
in the original ps1 veron it is a few cards one of which is a bomb. and I realize that very few people were into the card game enough to do even a minor sidequest to get more cards.
cards are kinda pointless that early. Theres no real reward for playing cards and you can get 99% of the common ones just from monster drops while playing the game. So cards or potion as a reward the quest is still kinda pointless haha (Although it does still count for the S rank treasure hunter with gilgamesh so i still suggest doing it)
When I was a kid I got this game from a friend, played it till the end of disc one and didn't have the rest of the discs to finish it Years later got it from a different friend and his first disc was too damaged so the ps wouldn't read it I am afraid of getting it now because I feel there might be a piano on a rope somewhere that will fall on my head on my way back from the store Or a bolt of lightning from a clear sky after I download it online
One thing i noticed is that final fantasy discs tended to "break" far more easy compared to other ps1 discs. idk if its because of the sheer amount of data on them (Doubtful because of other multi disc games) or just the way they were produced, however let me just say being able to experience FF9 is worth the risk of a piano falling on you. I highly suggest picking it up.
Funny. The guy that made this video does a full run of this game on his channel, I've been playing along, it's been fun. I hope you get to play soon. It's available on steam for 20 bucks and my crappy laptop plays it just fine.
@@kkeithf I am a doctor so I have very limited free time now Once this is all over I have a whole list of things I want to do (no for real I have a list on my phone; what I will do once we beat this thing) I'm adding ff9, I was 8 when I first played it at 28 I plan to finish it
Early grand dragon farming is completely pointless though. There's really no point in this game where you have to grind, except maybe for Ozma, and that won't be until the end of the game. Even if its for Freia's Dragon Crest...grinding up Dragon Crest is also pretty unnecessary. I never did it and still beat Ozma every time (same with Quina's frog ability thing, I'm not playing that frog minigame) But yeah, discovered that Speed-up trick for Chocobo Hot'n'Cold as well, when the Steam version was released, made getting to Ozma for Ark so much easier!
IX is most definitely the pinnacle. It was the best it ever got. Only went downhill from there. My favourite constantly drifts between the Playstation "holy trinity".
Well, what can they do, before ps2 they had to rely on telling a story that compensates the lack of graphical detail on the game itself. Like reading a book, we are not seeing any image, but it's the reading that makes it so fun. When graphics became a thing and the company started to change their teams, it seems they forgot about the appeal the writing of the story had on previous games and focused mainly on making "pretty" games. It got flashy and shiny, but lost the depth that the world and character development had on previous games. Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8 and 9 (which are the older ones I played) not only had a world, a villain and characters that are relatable, but they also taught really interesting ideas and showed really fun and compelling experiences. I'm sorry if I was a bit confusing here. But what I mean is: when I think about previous final fantasy games, I don't think about the flashy combat and big explosions. When I think about ff6, I remember Cyan's past, remember about Shadow's dreams, Terra struggle to find her place on that world, Celes singing on the opera. FF7, I remember about RED XIII's old man teaching the characters about the life essence of the world, Aerith and the gold saucer date (lol), Vincent badass scenes and cool relatable story, how Sephiroth's reaction about his past makes sense, and a lot of people would go down the same road he did, with that past. FFIX had a hardcore attention to the scene and characters, so It's hard to pick specific parts lol, specially on the first disk. So square should remember to build their games the same way as they did on the first games, to tell a story that is worth listening. Not just showing flashy combat with "perfect" looking characters that have no flaws and try to look cool all the time. But I think their management core will be too much afraid to risk doing it, since this practice doesn't have clear economical value to be acquired from it. The suits will say no.
@@glidingfalcon4370 100% agree mate. Not only that but I feel FFX reached the definition of the turn based combat system, having easily the best combat in the series. The sphere grid was also a great addition in place of standard leveling that gave you a massive amount of freedom and character customization. The world itself is quite possibly the most unqiue and beloved out of any in the series.
The first time you're in Treno at the start of disc 2, buy the reflect ring at auction and do not equip. When the party shifts back to zidane vivi and freya, teach them all auto-reflect and head up the vine from Gizamaluke's Grotto and get to work on those Grand Dragons!
A couple of things make this even easier. Hopefully you haven't stopped by Qu's Marsh yet, or you'll have yet another party member (Quina) to teach auto-reflect to. So if you can, leave it to a three-person party. Also, if you've gotten Freya to win the Coral ring in the festival of the hunt you'll be able to use it to absorb thunder magic. The grand dragons are challenging at the start, but the biggest threat they pose is casting Thundaga to the entire party. Equip auto-reflect and use the Coral ring and you'll be fine. HOWEVER, if you wanna get reallllly funky, steal that Ice Staff from Master Gizamaluke in disc 1, teach auto-reflect to *all* of your party members, and cast Blizzara on your whole party. You'll maximize the damage done to the dragon this way: they're naturally weak to ice, and you'll boost the spell a bit by having it reflected multiple times. Other than that, make sure you're all set with Antibody, or the dragons' Venom Breath and Poison Claw will get you. (Poison claw still likely will simply on physical damage at first.) And this should go without saying, but Reis' Wind is your best friend. And don't use Freya's jump! You need everyone on the ground at all times in case of a double poison claw attack
Honestly, when I first figured this out I spent a few hours at it and got to level 48 with Zidane (other characters thereabouts) before getting bored and continuing on with the story. Getting to Cleyra and fighting that Antlion? Pshhhh, please. Beatrix was no threat either. When you DO eventually get Quina, s/he is already leveled wayyy up, as her beginning level is based somehow on the level of you other characters. I don't know how the math is worked out. I don't believe it simply matches Zidane's level
quina joins at the avarage party level, also its stupid to leave quina. You can farm grand dragons with quina's limit glove and eat ability on disc 1 with no problems ending the battle in 2 moves. Auto reflect just makes it safer since with that and anti body you only have to worry about his physical attack. however you can also get some earrings in treno from the auction house that teach quina level up aswell which gives quina 1.5 times the exp. (So instead of 8000 it gets 12000). also by leaving quina untill disc 2 you miss out on 2 forced frog spawns meaning will add hours onto the time it takes to get 100 frogs.
thank you for the information, I didn't realize about the frog spawning thing. I've never really pursued that minigame though, to be honest. Quina's whole storyline is just kind of annoying to me, so I was actually happy when I realized I could leave him/her out of the game for almost one and a half discs before traveling to the outer continent
and I've tried the limit glove strategy, but its frustrating to try and maintain Quina at 1 HP. if s/he is KO, you need to fiddle with Phoenix downs and try to get him/her back to exactly 1, and I would rather just stick to a strategy that leaves me with more options. but the limit glove approach obviously does work for some people, I get it
With the new speed boost and skipping scenes, it's easy to get the Excalibur II now. Then just start a new game and play through so you can actually enjoy the game lol
And people dont know how hard it was to get Robe of Lords on disc 1. I think i spent a week trying to get it since i couldnt play all day because of school
Is this the PS4 version you're playing? The new menus look terrible compare to the original. Other than that, I didn't know about that moonstone! Never thought to talk to the Queen as Steiner, even though I talked to everyone else! Also that money trick will make item collection so much easier.
Appreciate this, played every FF starting with 1 up till 8, then I skipped over 9 (Owned it but never played it), then played 10. However playing 10-2 killed it for me for a while (didnt make it past the opening fights). That said I had been craving that old school RPG experience but didn't want to replay something. So I bought FF9 on IOS and have been playing it on the Ipad. Really liking it so far, although I wouldn't say as of yet that it was better than 7 (but I'll give you more interesting than 8, at least where I'm at now). Just hit the part where Steiner and Garnet ( I will not call her that other stupid name), are trying to find the super soft. If you like this game check out Final Fantasy Dissidia Opera Omnia on IOS/Android. While it does have premium currency for random draws, you absolutely don't need it to have fun. Levels don't require energy and all your favorite FF characters are making appearances (Eiko, Steiner Zidane are currently on the global roster, Garnet will be added soon). It's much better than the other gacha type games out there for sure.
because getting to 1hp and staying there for limit break is silly (Its only really good for grand dragon farming) not to mention you lose quina in cleyra and then again on the new continent.
You know if Square enix did a hd Edtion on Valkyrie Profile Lenneth Valkyrie profile 2 Silmeria on ps4 you know how much money it would make plus they can use the money to make a Valkyrie Profile 3 Hrist . That's my dream. I have both on psone and ps2 bit an hd version would be awesome .
I found this game in a bargain bin having never played a Final Fantasy before. Think it was 3 games for £10 or something stupid like that. Safe to say it's the best money I've ever spent
I've played the game so many times and I still find new stuff to this day. Don't feel bad I didn't know you got a bunch of good items just by guiding the Cleyrans to safety which was the whole point of the tour when you arrive at Cleyra. Also totally missed the scene where Master Quale and Quan meet at Quans Dwelling. Not to mention it took 13 years for someone to discover the benero bros or whatever they're called sidequest in Lindblum. That to me is exactly why I love this game so much :') We always learn something new
I remember saving up for this game and as soon as it was released I bought and brought home just to find out I was in trouble and was grounded. I spent an entire week just staring at the case, booklet, and CD's.
@@americanpatriot9393 I fucking took that shit and swapped with a different cable. Hid the real one under my mattress. I thought I was sp clever. Got my ass beat lol
Amazing times for me with the Final Fantasy games, Silent Hill and Evangelion - my mind got scrambled so many times. I had noone to comunicate about these emotions. Nobody I knew was into games or anime.
Another tip: High damage when you have Eiko, if you don't grind out like every mad rpg gamer, run Eiko and Vivi and have Eiko cast Carbuncle on your team (Ruby Light). Then cast any damage spell with Vivi on your whole party. Be careful though, Ruby Light runs out quickly, once it times out on 1 character, the full bounce just targets 1 ally who reflect ran out on. Another tip: Eiko Carbuncle effect changes depending on the offset item equipped: Ruby Light: Reflect; any item Emerald Light: Haste; Emerald Diamond Light: Vanish; Diamond Pearl Light: Shell; Moonstone I'm an Eiko user if you couldn't tell 😂
Number six: Gaining levels with stat boosting equipment gives you small (like a tenth of a point) but permanent stat boost for that stat. When your characters get close to a level, load them up with all the stat boosters you have.
Yeah I always leveling starting disc 4..all best equipment stat boosting available..keep low level, just farm Marcus for eiko boost is really pain in the a55. Excalibur 2 is not worth for me.
That's why I don't recommend getting more than lvl 20 when you can first meet grand dragons. And to level Marcus, just give him the blood sword and spam the Alexandrian guards and some crawlers. Let Steiner die and the blood sword will infinitely keep Marcus alive. Unless you're still talking about MAX Stat Boosting.... That's a pain for sure.
A lot of folk don’t seem to know how powerful Amarant’s Curse skill is. It sets a random elemental affinity from “normal”, “strong”, “immune” or “absorb” directly down to “weak”, and it works on everyone INCLUDING bosses and super bosses., it also never repeats elements, so doing it 8 times on one entry reliably make them “weak” to all 8 affinities. You can use it e.g. to make Hades weak to dark damage thus deal 9999 damage to himself every time he uses Doomsday. Or just to make any boss with high HP suffer doubles/triple their usual damage from most of the game’s summons, black magic and elemental skills. The only instance in which Curse does not work as intended is in making Ozma weak to dark. This is because Ozma’s affinity to darkness is linked to the friendly monsters side quest and not his “in fight” elemental stat. Curse still works for the other elements as usual though, so you can still do it to improve damage.
FF9 was the best FF compare to 7 and 8 on PS1 era because the game mechanics was back to its roots the only disappointment in the game was the final boss.
Ozma was a disappointment to me after beating Omega in 8 then fighting Ozma with his pathetically low hp just wasnt satisfying. Great game, poor end-game content, but the music alone makes 9 top tier
i like the secrecy surrounding ozma he was quite out of the way, but again it was just too easy doesnt require any amount of grinding all u need is the correct gear and good abilities and it should be pretty free. Definitely a let down after things like Emerald and Ruby, Omega, and honestly some final bosses are harder too like Zeromus from 4 comes to mind, big bang just party kills you provided you have not grinded levels
Seph 4096 the problem with 7 was once you maxed your characters even emerald and ruby were a joke. Once u beat them u could finish the game blind folded
2:39 I just let Vivi win, because damit, that Kid deserves that fucking card! (I gotta imagine it as some sort of lucky charm for him from that point on)
I know a really neat method to get at level 40 (or more if you want to grind) at the end of CD1. I don't know if it's still work on this version, but there's no reason it won't. It involves Quina and the Grand Dragon. And no, you don't need the Death Lv5 blue magic, as the popular method says. If you don't know what the Grand Dragon is, it's one of the "toughest" monster of the game, who grants you a lot of EXP, and can be found on the top of Gazamaluke's Grotto, after climbing the vine near the moogles. The only thing you need to do is to learn the Limit Glove blue magic for Qweena, wich can be obtained from Mandragora in the forest in the Qu Marsh area. Just kill Kweena, save the game, and resurect her with a phoenix down until she has 1HP. When she has, save the game again at the moogle place in the grotto and climb the vine to fight the dragon. You just have to use Limit Glove wich deals 9999, and then eat the dragon at the next turn. Enjoy your level scolling screen.
That's a very good method but the only thing is how quick the dragon is. U might not even get one turn in that early in the game because it usually casts magic on your whole party frequently or could kill one person who could happen to be her. So I'd say if u got time and u are willing to gamble go ahead. But the quickest way to level would be to fight the mandragoras near the city of the night with one person at a time. But if u level up early like that your stats wont be good at all because your stats go up based on what items u have.
Everything about the HD release is great, except the only thing I don't like is the UI and text font. Something about that pixelated text looked so good. I can't say the same for the character models, but the text should've stayed the same, imo. Edit: so I wrote that before I got the game, and I have many more complaints with it. The serious worst thing about it for me is the lack of analog controls. It only has 8 way directional control. It’s super awkward to use especially when you’re so used to the analog on the original. Another problem is the backgrounds are just so blurry. I wish they’d update it with the background mod that was made for the steam version. There’s also a mod that fixes the analog controls, but I’m never gonna play it on PC, so I’ll never get to experience it like that. And the last thing that really bugs me is not being able to turn the grey sidebars black. I don’t like it.
One quick tip for you as well, the regen spell is short for 'regeneration', and the word is pronounced as such. Re-jen. But anyway. :) That time speed up looks handy. I remember Chrono Cross had a similar mechanic after you beat the game the first time so you didn't have to waste time trying to get different endings/recruiting different characters. It was so handy.
actually there are people currently working on scripts for it so pretty soon you should be able to remote play the game on your PC and use a script to get the 1000 jumps.
When you do I'll actually get it >.> I get pretty obsessive with achievement hunting, and after I saw that I was like NOPE. I had a hard time getting over 50 jump ropes, no thanks~
TBH I can barely understand what this guy is saying. I’m pretty new to Final Fantasy and RPGs as a whole, so a lot of it still confuses me. But I picked up FF9 for Switch recently and I’m really loving it. I’m a bit intimidated by how long it is though, I though I was almost done with the game and then I found out I’m still on disk 1.
older games in general are FAR longer than newer games. games these days your lucky to get 6 hours of story (20-40 for RPGs) older games, especially RPGs have a solid 40-60 hours for a first playthrough
yea its amazing plus if its just points you want, then once you get the mountain chocobo the point boost in forest go's up meaning you can get 600-800 points almost every time. Or once you get to chocobo sky garden the point is so big there that you get 1000+ points pretty much every time at the very least and if you finish with 40+ seconds then you can get over 3000 points in 1 game.
KJYKJY1985 a cheat code that doesn't involve a code and is not considered a cheat is generally considered an exploit. And yeah, I was going to exploit the speed option to give me Excalibur II (which I've never gotten before), but the speed trick with the Chocobo? I'm excited as well. As in sexually. Rock hard.
It's probably self-evident, but I feel like stressing it nonetheless: It might be best to not use the Cotton Robe trick or the early Robe of Lords trick on your first playthrough, as it may trivialise the game somewhat.
Just promise me that u wont use the in build cheats... You can easily beat the game and sidemissions without them and its way more fun. Well you wont be able to get excalibur II that way but to be honest thats a speedrun only for idiots like me who have no life.
If you're grindy as hell and you don't want that booster bullsh- , Have Zidane use Steal on every battle (including emptying the bosses' pockets) from beginning until you get back to Alexandria later on. Once you get the Angel Bless your Thievery will do massive fixed damage Also, kill dragons for Freya's Dragon Crest Catch frogs for Quina's Frog Drop Team 9999 all the way!
I focused on Frogs and Stealing. Stealing has obvious side benefits (you get items) and the Frogs aren't too hard to do and have good rewards themselves. Plus the formula is based on level so you actually get the best bang for your buck by simultaneously stealing/catching while leveling up. Killing dragons is a pain and most of Freya's other abilities don't make her more desirable than Eiko, who can buff with the best white magic, or Steiner/Vivi who can pretty easily do max damage with a little creative ability setup. The only character I thought was Crap was Dagger since her Summons don't do crap unless you like collecting crap-loads of stones and her white magic sucks too. I never use Amarant either but his Trance is great when it comes up.
@@stevenleonmusic It doesn't have to be Grand Dragons, you can farm little Serpions and it has the same effect, making Freya's the easiest of the 3 to max.
@@jeread5193 It's easier than Quina's since frog catching is actually pretty involved but has many good rewards. Zidane's is the easiest since you can steal from any enemy throughout the game instead of having to farm specific enemies so it doesn't necessarily hinder your progress. Either way, Freya has way less value than Quina and you can't switch out Zidane so Zidane and Quina still win.
@@stevenleonmusic The dragons are easily the easiest and fastest of the three (sometimes you just can't be bothered to steal from every enemy), I had probably powered it up to 9999 before I even beat Gizmaluke. Each to their own
in the gizamaluke grotto there is a ladder on the room with the moogles that goes outside. in the forested areas you can encounter 1 or 2 garudas that can lvl you up well until lv 30 in disc 1. Ice staff needed and some stop protection.
I remember when I was little I saw my big brother playing FF9. I remember playing with the air ship and battles but I was never allowed to do the whole game. When I got older I played FF7 until it end ( Yeah I know FF7 is old but I wanted to play it). I was not very happy how it end so I beg my big brother to get me ff9. He said I can have it when it was my birthday which was few days away. so then I got it and became addcited to it. Played for 6 hours and 41 minutes when I first got it until my dad told me to turn it off.
That sounds like a good memory. My big bro also got me into the game but he was more mean with me 🤣 I begged to play it and then he finally let me play it, I got to disc 3 and then we got in a fight about something so he took it back. Then he gave it back to me but broke the 4th disc so I couldn't finish it, until I bought it for myself after highschool.
Nattums Mcgee lol yeah my brother was mean to me too. When ever I miss something like an ability or something he would yell at me saying that I was skipping everything or why don’t you have this character in your team. When this game ended I was crying so badly. Showing vivi’s son and Zidane just taking off his cloth and saying “my love for garnet” made me gasp. My other brother started laughing at me when he saw me cried. Man the good times I am so glad I got into final fantasy.
I never heard of final fantasy until ff9 when my grandmom got it for me for my birthday, was a junior in high school. I was hooked. I didn't know Vivi was one of the characters in the game (even though you played as him going to see the play) and let him die during the prison cage boss fight........for 6 months (I'm laughing now at how insanely noobish I was). I just bought the digital release last night and still have the original (booklet included). I didn't know about none of these tips then and now, it was in my feed and caught my interest. After 9, I was told by college friend about 7 and 8 (still own the originals, all intact). I plan on buying the remake of both in a few weeks.
Doesn't mean you've played too much. The game has been out for years and the internet/GameFAQs has been around for nearly as long. I'm more surprised people DON'T know this stuff.
I have only ever played the original PS1 version..... too tight to buy the PS4 or Xbox1 😆😆😆. The ×3 speed is definitely a bonus for the "Chocobo hot/cold" game. In all fairness, already knew about the other points mentioned but respect given for the upload. Thanks 👍.
The Summon+Regen trick is well known by everyone, even if they didn't realize it. That's what made FF9 so easy. Once everyone has learned Auto-Regen, you don't even need to use a single healing spell anymore. Combine that with Auto-Haste and your party will be constantly topped up at all times. Even against those special attacks that bring you down to 1 HP.
I do love auto haste and auto Regen. Gotta beat the book early game with Steiner or get the running shoes later from quans dwelling if you don't want it earlier in the game. Good combo though, never heal again
due to this coming out on PS4 i now own 6 copies of it. and i love that you used the roses of may - loss of me version for your background music. best piece in the series (in my opinion) i knew 3 of these. but didnt know about the chocobo speed boost thing. or the easy way of getting vivi to win. did it a much harder way back in ps1 days
Don't use any of the cheat buttons except speed up, but only for leveling up and nothing else. The game is better the way they meant it to be played in 1999/2000.
As i mentioned to somebody else, i agree. They were used in the making of this because i needed a 100% file with saves at every moogle to make my life easier in recording clips. The boosters let me turn 40ish hours of work into 10.
damn i dit the complete hidden chocobo thing all the way up to the last hidden air place on the PS1 as a kid and was the most fun minigame togheter with owning npcs in card games XD that was pretty much my end game daily xD
6:22 tips: the game doenst check where the beak hits the ground, but where the chocobo is standing; also, the spots are always the same, if you can memorize where they are then you can do quick sweeps to know where is the new spot.
Hey, if u get the auto reflect ring as early as possible from the auction house, and also prison resist. Then use Vivi's x2 reflect u can cast ice on the grand dragon that spawns above that area that rains when u first get frea. Then all u need to do is pack a bunch of phoenix downs because at low Lil's the dragon will kill your characters in one hit. If u kill the grand dragon and have at least one character survive they will jump to lvl 40 after the first fight . I used this trick to jump to lvl 80 early on.
"Probably not gonna use it with Ark" Are you kidding? My first playthrough, I abused auto-regen and Ark vs Kuja (I wasn't maxed out, probably only doing 3k a hit. Now I won't face Kuja if I'm not doing 9999 to Ozma. Kuja deserves that level of pain.)
Aside from the boost related one and the impressing of all the nobles and the queen , I knew all of these. I will point out though, I make it a point to run through this game at least once a year. You Are Not Alone, A Place to Call Home, and Melodies of Life are my favorite tracks from the soundtrack.
You cant get the mountain ability on Disc 1, only the reef ability. The first time you can "infinitely" do the cotton robe trick is Disc 2 When you get to Treno with Dagger
It’s cool, but most FF games never rely on Gil, for me it just ticks up as I’ll steal or find the better percentage of equipment.. especially with 9 as like every boss or mini boss has a weapon or apparel to steal 👍🏻
Lmao this is my all time favorite game but I remember my mom got so upset she made me return the game because there was a “devil” in the back of it (that devil was Ifrit !) she freaked out! Lol I had to return it and then a weeks later I rebought again. Haha 😂.
I feel sorry for anyone who might still be new to the game. This isn't like an Aeris dies thing. This is a genuine spoiler of a secret not everyone is likely to have found.
You forgot the 6th secret, the power leveling: get Night and Limit Glove skills with Quina, them go to Gizamaluke's Grotto to where the Moogle couple are, climb up and you'll reach the Popos Heights, start a battle with the Dragon, make sure you have Quina and 1 character equiped with thunder absorb equips before hand, put the dragon to sleep with Night, use the skill that reduces HP to 1 on Quina itself, and use Limit Glove on the Dragon to deal 9999 DMG and with 2 Limit Glove you will kill it dead, earning easily more tham 6 lvls at that point.
@Jeremy, you cant use the lvl 5 death method untill disc 3, RougleEagles method is for disc 1 grinding with quina, vivi, freya and zidane. It also doesnt require as much effort as you think. Hardest part is actually learning limit glove. (Although using night is really pointless, its much easier to just let a character die and revive them after the fight)
dont get me wrong i can understand why you would use it, but to me its not efficient and if im grinding then im going to be doing it as quickly as possible at that given point in time.
7:33 -- yeah about that... That's really due to an oversight on the developer's part... The ATB system doesn't have a wait clause programmed into it, hence why auto Regen is pretty much broken and therefore is best to have on at all times
@@Harkz0r I could not get carbuncle. Had no clue how to get the later summons, or even Curaga on Garnet
this strat was actually so popular that they made it a complete gimmick for the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius Units of Vivi and Steiner
@@leargamma4912
You get the gem (Ruby) that is used in teaching Carbuncle summon to Eiko just by playing the story onwards.
It's the eidolon that guards Iifa Tree and when you go there first time after visiting Madain Sari (Eiko's home village) and recruiting Eiko to party, she'll extract Carbuncle out of the stone altar near Iifa Tree enterance and you get an accessory item Ruby
Going through my 3rd playthrough, I like to revisit this game as my mind matures to see the differences in how I process it
Best final Fantasy EVER made!! EVER!
eh 2nd best for me, Right behind 10
Best JRPG ever made!! EVER!
Okay, I'm fickle... Sometimes I'll say FF6.
Also I haven't played every JRPG... or FF.
Really? Worst FF for me, and I muscled through crystal chronicles........then again, 2nd worst. Chronicles really was terrible.
Never played 13. Or 10. or 8. 12 was pretty good, though.
I hear bad things about 13 and stayed away.
For another secret, if you find yourself too low a level for the final boss, the path immediately before it has an invisible save point tucked in the top right corner, and one of the enemies (the one that is not a behemoth) drops tents so you can infinitely train and heal for free! Decent exp as well.
Well this is gonna pay off
I could not beat the final boss back when it came out
All because I could not beat the final boss
Now I am playing again
I remember getting this the day it released and finished it over Christmas break. One of my best FF experiences.
I was a huge Dragonball Z fan when this game came out, so I use to pretend Zidane was a lost Super Saiyan from a different time/world/reality.
Apple Bee actually yes. zidane is based on goku. while kuja is vegita
They're both inspired by "a journey to the west" but not by each other
Same
How dare u call him rusty, hes captain adelbert Steiner
Cringeworthy.
I'm currently playing final fantasy 9 and this my first final fantasy game and really liking it
Regen isn't pronounced like "regain". The g is soft, like a j because it comes from "regenerate". Didn't know the Chocobo hot and cold tip. Thank you.
Justin Betts Sorry man, right or wrong, I will always pronounce mana the way you hate.
Yeah that did my head in
He also mispronounced Zidane and Ether. I think hes doing it on purpose to get comments. And it worked.
For busted amounts of healing, use auto-potion, healer and chemist on Dagger. She’ll fully heal herself at least 100x over.
awesome
I struggled for HOURS te get Robe of Lords in disc one in a Low Level Game on my PS1.
But I did it, at the end, my time counter was at 97 hours on disc 1.
Why would you do that to yourself 😂 cheers bud
lmao wtf you coulda beaten the game by like 50 hours hahaha
It was a fun challenge! I've beaten the game so many times now.
But nothing compares to a lvl 1 playthrough
Primalliquid can't wait to see then.
Wow, this video showed up in my recommended immediately after I download FFIX
youtube knows all
I bet you was look up the game before you got it that's probably y
One of the best FF entries and probably better than 7 in a lot of ways. Only probably tied with 6 imo.
I let Freya win so that I can get Coral Ring for Grand Dragon leveling up later at Gizamaluke's Grotto.
Same
It's the only reward worth getting. Order of importance Freya > Zidane >>>>>>>Vivi. Regardless of what was said in this video you get can get the Theater Ship card via chocobo treasure hunting and locations of even the most hidden treasures are easy to find now with things like UA-cam.
even without Coral Ring, Grand Dragon at Gizamaluke Grotto is easy with Quina's Limit Globe
Or level 5 death as grand dragon's and garuda's level are multiples of 5.
Limit glove blue magic if quina has 1 HP will do 9999 to dragon, and next turn just eat him with quina... So basicy you dont need coral ring.. :)
It does not take less than an hour!
yes it does take less than an hour, i even have a full video proving it. take a look at my lets play and see for yourself
Well, given as how all of those are for all players I won't complain. There is however a little secert some people don't know about. At the very start of the game, when you get Vivi the guy in the ticket both gives you some cards. However, if you go meet Tom imeadately afterwards you can do a very minor sidequest to get more. He wants you to find his cat, which is in the plaza by the fountain.
i mean to be honest thats not really anything amazing. its just a simple quest that rewards a potion (Atleast i think it was a potion)
in the original ps1 veron it is a few cards one of which is a bomb. and I realize that very few people were into the card game enough to do even a minor sidequest to get more cards.
cards are kinda pointless that early. Theres no real reward for playing cards and you can get 99% of the common ones just from monster drops while playing the game. So cards or potion as a reward the quest is still kinda pointless haha (Although it does still count for the S rank treasure hunter with gilgamesh so i still suggest doing it)
The point is that if some one wanted to play cards at the begining they could do that sidequest to have a few more cards to play with.
The speed boost chocobo trick was new to me
Nice tips. Didn't know about some of these!
When I was a kid I got this game from a friend, played it till the end of disc one and didn't have the rest of the discs to finish it
Years later got it from a different friend and his first disc was too damaged so the ps wouldn't read it
I am afraid of getting it now because I feel there might be a piano on a rope somewhere that will fall on my head on my way back from the store
Or a bolt of lightning from a clear sky after I download it online
One thing i noticed is that final fantasy discs tended to "break" far more easy compared to other ps1 discs. idk if its because of the sheer amount of data on them (Doubtful because of other multi disc games) or just the way they were produced, however let me just say being able to experience FF9 is worth the risk of a piano falling on you. I highly suggest picking it up.
Did you end up getting it?
@@kkeithf Bought it from china in january still heaven t gotten it yet, weird
Funny. The guy that made this video does a full run of this game on his channel, I've been playing along, it's been fun. I hope you get to play soon. It's available on steam for 20 bucks and my crappy laptop plays it just fine.
@@kkeithf I am a doctor so I have very limited free time now
Once this is all over I have a whole list of things I want to do (no for real I have a list on my phone; what I will do once we beat this thing)
I'm adding ff9, I was 8 when I first played it at 28 I plan to finish it
Playing this on my Xbox One right now!
Early grand dragon farming is completely pointless though. There's really no point in this game where you have to grind, except maybe for Ozma, and that won't be until the end of the game.
Even if its for Freia's Dragon Crest...grinding up Dragon Crest is also pretty unnecessary. I never did it and still beat Ozma every time (same with Quina's frog ability thing, I'm not playing that frog minigame)
But yeah, discovered that Speed-up trick for Chocobo Hot'n'Cold as well, when the Steam version was released, made getting to Ozma for Ark so much easier!
9 is the best Final Fantasy
8 is my favourite Final Fantasy
R1CH1E4SS My favorite is FF10. Second fave is FF8. And yes, FF13 is my 3rd. Including the sequels.
@@j800r agreed it was definitely the pinnacle
Quina's whole storyline is just kind of annoying to me, so I was actually happy when I realized I could leave him/her out of the game for almost one and a half discs before traveling to the outer continent
and I've tried the limit glove strategy, but its frustrating to try and maintain Quina at 1 HP. if s/he is KO, you need to fiddle with Phoenix downs and try to get him/her back to exactly 1, and I would rather just stick to a strategy that leaves me with more options. but the limit glove approach obviously does work for some people, I get it
It takes a lot more than 1 hour to get RoL and Protect Ring with speed up on IOS, takes hours, touch screens are annoying AF
What about to be lvl 70 in disc 2 using mirror ring and defeating grand dragons?
If only there was a easy way to get Excalibur II without missing out on anything 😔. Though I think a lot of stuff you can still go back and do.
With the new speed boost and skipping scenes, it's easy to get the Excalibur II now. Then just start a new game and play through so you can actually enjoy the game lol
I will be using the tricks.
And people dont know how hard it was to get Robe of Lords on disc 1. I think i spent a week trying to get it since i couldnt play all day because of school
At 4:40 Queen Gave me Tiny Armor !! I’m guessing you should redo the performance again regardless how many people you have impressed

Is this the PS4 version you're playing? The new menus look terrible compare to the original. Other than that, I didn't know about that moonstone! Never thought to talk to the Queen as Steiner, even though I talked to everyone else! Also that money trick will make item collection so much easier.
half of it was recorded on the pc ver while the other half was ps4.
Just a comment about the first tip, you can just battle and make money and you level up at the same time.
Best game ever with best ost ever
yo'all talk about speed up or boost the game for the chocobo forest but you don't say how to do that.
Enunciate, please.
I....I already knew all this.
Do i really really need the moonstone
I play on the swicth no disc swicthing needed
how about eating that monster in disk 1 outside lindblum and doing 9999 with quina on every boss for rest of game
because getting to 1hp and staying there for limit break is silly (Its only really good for grand dragon farming) not to mention you lose quina in cleyra and then again on the new continent.
Number 6: Some people pronounce regen as regain 😅
You get master hunter and 5kgill
You know if Square enix did a hd Edtion on Valkyrie Profile Lenneth Valkyrie profile 2 Silmeria on ps4 you know how much money it would make plus they can use the money to make a Valkyrie Profile 3 Hrist . That's my dream. I have both on psone and ps2 bit an hd version would be awesome .
I found this game in a bargain bin having never played a Final Fantasy before. Think it was 3 games for £10 or something stupid like that. Safe to say it's the best money I've ever spent
I found my copy at a garage sale for $5, it was my first FF and also best money I've spent.
love this game, top notch
i feel stupid i didnt even know you got items with rusty after the sword fight.........😭

That to me is exactly why I love this game so much :') We always learn something new
Same and i still always went for a 100 *facepalm*

Another tip: High damage when you have Eiko, if you don't grind out like every mad rpg gamer, run Eiko and Vivi and have Eiko cast Carbuncle on your team (Ruby Light). Then cast any damage spell with Vivi on your whole party. Be careful though, Ruby Light runs out quickly, once it times out on 1 character, the full bounce just targets 1 ally who reflect ran out on.
Another tip: Eiko Carbuncle effect changes depending on the offset item equipped:
Ruby Light: Reflect; any item
Emerald Light: Haste; Emerald
Diamond Light: Vanish; Diamond
Pearl Light: Shell; Moonstone
I'm an Eiko user if you couldn't tell 😂

That's a pain for sure.
don't forget to boost zidanes will that way bc will determines the stealing rate
Damnit I got all 100 nobles on my first try with the new release and I had no idea Branhe gives you anything
haha dont worry you're not the only one, i think it took me 15+ playthroughs as a kid before i found out about it.

Nemo Alice you can get a moonstone later on in the game so its no big deal.
@Alexander it is if you want the trophy for owning 4 moonstones at once.
Primalliquid oh, i didnt know that was a trophy.
I think the most useful trick here is the Chocobo hot and cold and not for the robe of lords but for the chocographs quest itself. Its a time saver!
Thanks. I'm so happy this game came to PS4. :D
Ami Mizuno this game any good
yes :)
Ami Mizuno is it fun if u don’t fast time I hate using cheats
Nobody cares since it's already on PC.
Ami Mizuno I have a ps1 still. I have final fantasy Iv to Ix on it.
FF7 is great. An absolute classic. But FF9. This shit here is the BEST! Such a classic awesome game. If you haven't played it, your asleep. Get on it!
Seph 4096 Ozma was kinda lame. But finding him was fun. And having a OP ass team to take hin is pretty satisfying though
i like the secrecy surrounding ozma he was quite out of the way, but again it was just too easy doesnt require any amount of grinding all u need is the correct gear and good abilities and it should be pretty free.
I’m so glad to see the immense Final Fantasy IX love. It is such an amazing game. Switch physical release is coming at the end of this month!!
Hello Vegh. How have you been?
I never thought to EAT the dragon. Genius!
Hello vegh LUL
Wow i never tried it that way thanks
That's a very good method but the only thing is how quick the dragon is. U might not even get one turn in that early in the game because it usually casts magic on your whole party frequently or could kill one person who could happen to be her. So I'd say if u got time and u are willing to gamble go ahead. But the quickest way to level would be to fight the mandragoras near the city of the night with one person at a time. But if u level up early like that your stats wont be good at all because your stats go up based on what items u have.
This game got me to the Final Fantasy fandom, and motivated me to learn English too.
I traded in FF8 to buy this game on release day.
Smart man I hope u got into stocks and trading lol
This is my favorite Final Fantasy and I didn't know a lot of these. Cheers!
Schematist its a shame we'll likely never see another ff like it. the ps1 era was by far the best for ff imo
PC > ps4 and other new consoles
One quick tip for you as well, the regen spell is short for 'regeneration', and the word is pronounced as such. Re-jen.
But anyway. :) That time speed up looks handy. I remember Chrono Cross had a similar mechanic after you beat the game the first time so you didn't have to waste time trying to get different endings/recruiting different characters. It was so handy.
Yes, and the recently released Chrono cross now gives you the timer on the First playthrough. I got it on PS4 platform 😁 happy playing
I know what it stands for but I will still say reggen til I die
@@callmeshaggy5166 No lie, my friends and I said it like Reagan. And we topped it off with a healthy dose of eh-ther.
Here is another tip...avoid trophy hunting like a plague. Srsly getting Excalibur II is piece of cake compared to 1000 rope jumps.
actually there are people currently working on scripts for it so pretty soon you should be able to remote play the game on your PC and use a script to get the 1000 jumps.
Realy ? Is there a good source to get this script when it is done ?
likely Gamefaqs but when a good working one finally appears ill be making a video on it anyway.
When you do I'll actually get it >.> I get pretty obsessive with achievement hunting, and after I saw that I was like NOPE. I had a hard time getting over 50 jump ropes, no thanks~
there is actually a trophy for 1000 rope jumps...? thats evil
WHY DIDN'T I KNOW IT WAS RELEASED ON PS4 STORE.
that's my favourite tip in this whole video.
Best JRPG ever.
Wow that chocobo time trick is awesome! Can't wait to get back into this game
yea its amazing plus if its just points you want, then once you get the mountain chocobo the point boost in forest go's up meaning you can get 600-800 points almost every time. Or once you get to chocobo sky garden the point is so big there that you get 1000+ points pretty much every time at the very least and if you finish with 40+ seconds then you can get over 3000 points in 1 game.
This doesn't seem so much like a trick as it does a cheat code that they, for some reason, didn't classify as a cheat code.
Rock hard.
I've used speed boost to make grinding less of a chore but never thought about it for hot and cold now I'm definitely going to
It's a cool trick, sure. But IMO, it feels like cheating to me. I didn't use Game Shark on PS1, so I probably won't use the Speed Booster either.
I never had the chance to play FF 9 so I'm super excited to try all 5 of these tricks! Thank you so much!
its an awesome game, enjoy.
It's probably self-evident, but I feel like stressing it nonetheless:
It might be best to not use the Cotton Robe trick or the early Robe of Lords trick on your first playthrough, as it may trivialise the game somewhat.
Just promise me that u wont use the in build cheats... You can easily beat the game and sidemissions without them and its way more fun. Well you wont be able to get excalibur II that way but to be honest thats a speedrun only for idiots like me who have no life.
If you're grindy as hell and you don't want that booster bullsh- ,
Have Zidane use Steal on every battle (including emptying the bosses' pockets) from beginning until you get back to Alexandria later on. Once you get the Angel Bless your Thievery will do massive fixed damage
Also, kill dragons for Freya's Dragon Crest
Catch frogs for Quina's Frog Drop
Team 9999 all the way!
Each to their own
Kill dragons?
in the gizamaluke grotto there is a ladder on the room with the moogles that goes outside. in the forested areas you can encounter 1 or 2 garudas that can lvl you up well until lv 30 in disc 1.
But I do have good memories of playing it in my room right after school, mainly playing chocobo hot and cold
Regen - as in Regeneration
NOT Re-gain
I honestly don't understand how for native English speakers that is an issue to pronounce.
¬_¬
Marry me garnet
I've played this game way too much, I knew about all of these without a guide or anything.
Doesn't mean you've played too much. The game has been out for years and the internet/GameFAQs has been around for nearly as long. I'm more surprised people DON'T know this stuff.
@@j800r he said without any guide. lol
“Well known by everyone even if they don’t know it.” Is a wild statement
@@xzed6394 sorry that you never paid attention 🤷♂️
@@Sogreth89 Read it back to yourself buddy. It doesn’t make sense haha
If you use white magic to revive a zombie, it dies. For example, all monsters who attack alexandria are zombies and beatrix has white magic.
Playing this again with the Moguri mod and it’s magical. FF9 is just so damn good.
the what?
@@ablationera mod that improves the background art and updates the music and models
@@Kev-O33 Oh that sounds neat
due to this coming out on PS4 i now own 6 copies of it. and i love that you used the roses of may - loss of me version for your background music. best piece in the series (in my opinion) i knew 3 of these. but didnt know about the chocobo speed boost thing. or the easy way of getting vivi to win. did it a much harder way back in ps1 days
If you played FFIX in 1999, you're really good.
I used the gil max. It won't break the game will it?
No encounters helps for perfect game runs.
Sanoj Shrestha It disables trophy achievements for that save file.
damn i dit the complete hidden chocobo thing all the way up to the last hidden air place on the PS1 as a kid and was the most fun minigame togheter with owning npcs in card games XD that was pretty much my end game daily xD
Sad part is...I already know these. But good to know you are into FF9 as well.
Only one I didn't was the speed up one, cos ive never played the version with cheats
6:22 tips: the game doenst check where the beak hits the ground, but where the chocobo is standing; also, the spots are always the same, if you can memorize where they are then you can do quick sweeps to know where is the new spot.
This game remains one of my most favorite of all time ❤️😥 It influenced my life more than most movies I've watched. The nostalgia is insane 😢
I used this trick to jump to lvl 80 early on.
that music at the end got me.. why until now this game reminds me so much memory..
"Probably not gonna use it with Ark"
Are you kidding? My first playthrough, I abused auto-regen and Ark vs Kuja (I wasn't maxed out, probably only doing 3k a hit. Now I won't face Kuja if I'm not doing 9999 to Ozma. Kuja deserves that level of pain.)
RE-JEN
NOT RE-GAIN
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
imagine if he used the full word regenerate would be re gain erate
I love IX it constantly fluctuates between a warm hug and a tight squeeze
I will tell you one! Remove Sword from Blank, keep it, after he is frozen, you will have better Sword to start with.
you can steal and iron sword before evil forest.
Point is to have it after you exit the forest to the world map.
Again, you can steal one before evil forest meaning you will have it after exiting aswell
it's more de-equipping any temp character of all their gear before they leave to sell for more gil or synth items really
Lol, you should have already stolen an Iron sword from Baku before then! It's still worth stripping his gear to sell/synth perhaps.
Aside from the boost related one and the impressing of all the nobles and the queen , I knew all of these. I will point out though, I make it a point to run through this game at least once a year.
You Are Not Alone, A Place to Call Home, and Melodies of Life are my favorite tracks from the soundtrack.
Melodies of life
You can actually do the synth trick on disc 1 to get max gold, if you get the chocobo ability to walk over mountains.
Haha 😂.
lol nice
Her name is Garnet Til Alexandros
Dave Marx her name is Sarah
her name is McFly
I feel sorry for anyone who might still be new to the game. This isn't like an Aeris dies thing. This is a genuine spoiler of a secret not everyone is likely to have found.
J Ryan You mean her real name?
You forgot the 6th secret, the power leveling: get Night and Limit Glove skills with Quina, them go to Gizamaluke's Grotto to where the Moogle couple are, climb up and you'll reach the Popos Heights, start a battle with the Dragon, make sure you have Quina and 1 character equiped with thunder absorb equips before hand, put the dragon to sleep with Night, use the skill that reduces HP to 1 on Quina itself, and use Limit Glove on the Dragon to deal 9999 DMG and with 2 Limit Glove you will kill it dead, earning easily more tham 6 lvls at that point.
i didnt forget, thats going to be in a different video im planning on making and didnt want to include it in both.
Yes Level 5 death was the most easy way to kill it.
Night is only so that Quina can have time to do some of his preparations, could call that a luxury
dont get me wrong i can understand why you would use it, but to me its not efficient and if im grinding then im going to be doing it as quickly as possible at that given point in time.
7:33 -- yeah about that... That's really due to an oversight on the developer's part... The ATB system doesn't have a wait clause programmed into it, hence why auto Regen is pretty much broken and therefore is best to have on at all times
Its ree-gen, like regenerate.
