    Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. I believe youngsters need to be in one place so they make friends and learn to socialise. You should consider Europe's rivers and canals. Very varied and extensive and not that expensive. Not sure of visas but other Americians manage.

      Thanks! We’ll have to look into some European cruising for sure. If anybody knows any good UA-cam channels we can follow, let us know!

    The Columbia is so pretty, before I retired from Commercial Driving one of my routes was into Canada to deliver in Kelowna and beyond. Driving along the Columbia was amazing to be on the water would be just incredible. The inside passage would be an adventure similar to the loop, it would be a “Life Changing Adventure”. Good luck

    Sounds like lots of adventure and fun ahead, albeit with a need to be in Portland to let the kids finish school. I loved meeting all of you in Stuart! And opining frequently and at length during your boat search. Cruising the pacific northwest including perhaps Alaska sounds like a wonderful idea. My wife and I did an Alaskan cruise on a small cruise ship and it was a magical experience. If you ever get another boat for a second Loop, be sure to pencil in a long detour to New England. The cruising grounds between New York and Maine are crowded but wonderful. Thank you again for sharing your Great Loop adventure -- the details of the trip were interesting, but getting to know your loving, smart family through the videos was very rewarding.
    Be well, be safe, be happy, have fun!

      Thanks! Yes, the Atlantic Northeast will be on our list for sure. If it’s anything like NY and the St Lawrence, we’re in for a treat! Excellent cruising!

    I am heartbroken that you guys have completed your loop. I love all your videos. Especially your over night crossing. I have watched that one many times. My best to you and your next adventure.

    I’m personally really happy that we’re not finished with you yet! Keep ‘em coming so we can see what boats you’re looking at for the future. Maybe you could even touch on the frustrations inherent in buying and selling boats (a subject I’m all too familiar with right now 😂🤪😩)

    Another great video! There's a group of us from our marina (4 boats so far) that are planning on starting the Loop in the Spring of 2026. My question is: you rented out your home in Portland during the Loop, and now you're moving back. What did you do with all of your furnishings and belongings? Did you put everything in storage or rent the house furnished?
    Blessings ✝️✝️✝️✝️ Gregg Wolffis

      @onFIREfamily  7 місяців тому

      Awesome Gregg! Yes, we rented our house furnished. We crammed all of our personal items into attics for the year. This ended up working best for our situation.

    We love the vids and know videoing and posting isn't easy but I will never understand people that send money to people who are living the dream. Of course if our paths crossed, drinks on me.

      It’s not our normal schtick but our audience asked so we provided the link. No obligation (of course).

    Given the time, I think it would be nice to go up the Mississippi to the Twin Cities and up the Ohio to Pittsburgh (water levels permitting). Maybe go up the Cumberland as well at least until you run into a TVA dam LOL

      There are lots of side trips off the loop like that we’d love to do! The “down east loop” in Maine. There’s no end!

    I think a trip up the Columbia and Snake to Lewiston would be a nice trip

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  7 місяців тому

      Totally! And we have family north of Lewiston. We’re currently in love with a boat in Kennewick so they trip with be a necessary part of that purchase! Stay tuned (but don’t hold your breath). It’s nice not having to maintain a boat through winter this year.

      Loved seeing your Vandal shirts. I grewup just across the border in Uniontown. Now live in the South Sound. You would love having a boat in the south sound we do most of our cruising south of Seattle. But spend a few weeks in the San Juan's every summer. And the south sound is a easy 2 hr run from Portland to reach a boat. Having grown up above Lewiston a cruise up the Columbia and Snake rivers are on the buckelist.

    Up the mississippi and the Missouri and then connecting the Snake and Columbia would be a Lewis and Clark adventure. Get those kids educated first and see what they decide to do in life.

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  7 місяців тому

      Yes! Much of our future cruising depends on where they settle.

    Help we just purchased a 2000 Cruiser yacht 4450 and are in Maryland trying to bring it down to South Carolina where we live I’m not sure if you’ll get this message in time but we are trying to get our generator to stay on and going did you ever have any issues with yours?

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  7 місяців тому

      The only issue we had was one time the water intake got blocked with weeds and we needed to clean it out. That caused it to shut down automatically due to its temperature. Other than that we had no issues. Hit us up at onFIREfamily@hotmail.com and we’ll share whatever we can to help!

    Love you guys. What do you think about doing the loop in a house boat.

    • @michiganengineer8621
      @michiganengineer8621 7 місяців тому +1

      There would be three (at least) very tricky parts with a traditional style houseboat. The Great Lakes, the passage from Carabelle to the main part of Florida and up the Jersey Shore to the mouth of the Hudson. The river and ICW portions would be very doable, but the shallow and flat bottomed draft, combined with the sail-like side walls of a house boat would make me very leery about big open water.

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  7 місяців тому +1

      We agree. With the weather and waves we saw, those spots would be very tricky in a houseboat.
