In stead of cutting perpendicular to the grain or parallel, try a slight diagonal cut that creates a lot of patterns, avoiding the pith, of course. I do so making spoons. The results are beautiful. One wood that is excellent and not well known is Pacific coast maple. I made a lot of stuff from this wood when living in Oregon. Mostly, they use it for burning, so sad! It is softer than sugar maple, but still hard enough to make a good all around workable wood. Having lived there, I brought some moving to Georgia. It is like pecan but not as hard.
Good job. We have not do any fairs yet. been invited to several. i've been so focused on the Antique mall location asit's been selling like hot cake on a cold winters day... lol Now I'm doing glue ups of muti species lumber for the charcuterie Boards and it's been a good seller. on average i get $28.00 to $35 for meduim size boards.. It would be interesting to see what a fair would be like for sure.. At least now you have a idea what sells more. But from my lifes learnings that's subject to change like the wind.
Nice job, thinking about others is very important 👍 👌
Nice cutting boards
Awesome job, sir, I'm glad you had a lot of fun and it was profitable.
Wood is fun.

Good job. Great experience for your kids too. Was your wood kiln dried or just air dried?
