  • DIY Play Dough Step by Step Tutorial🖐
❗️Warning: This stuff is addictive to make 🤩 Once you make one, there’s no going back to store bought 😜
This homemade play dough recipe is made out of food grade items, making it taste safe for the little ones, long lasting for storage and extremely fun to play with! It is by far one of my absolute favorite sensory recipe to make ❤️
    👉🏼YOU’LL NEED:
    - 1 cup flour
    - 1/2 cup table salt
    - 2 tbsp cream of tartar
    - 1 tbsp oil
    - 1 cup boiling water
    - Food coloring (I recommend the Wilton Color Right amzn.to/2YJ7wnE)
    👉🏼INSTRUCTIONS:
1️⃣In a bowl, combine the flour, salt and cream or tart. Mix well.
    2️⃣Add the oil
3️⃣Mix a few drops of food coloring into the boiling water and add to the bowl.
4️⃣Mix everything very well and massage with your hand until it is no longer sticky.
💡Use the same measuring cup for all the ingredients and tap the cup full of flour so that all the air bubbles come out and you measure accurately
💡Storage: Wait for the play dough to cool completely. Wrap in plastic and place in an air tight container. Store at room temperature for up to 6 months!⏰

This is hands down the best play dough recipe I’ve used! Took less than 5 mins to make. Feels far better than store bought play dough and thankfully, is safe around my 1yo which was a concern for me with other dough. My 3yo is having blast 😊 Thanks for your recipe!!

The idea is they don’t eat it but if they did it’s ok right? New grandma here. I’m following you so you can help me be the cool fun grandma.

Yes exactly! It is not edible, it is taste safe. So in case they do bring it up to their mouths it will be okay. The important step is to add the boiling water when its boiling so that it kills the bacteria on the raw flour.

I make this for my granddaughters all the time and they love it! I have to use quite a bit of extra flour but have never compacted it like that. Thanks for the pro tip. I’m going to try a batch today to see if that makes the difference.

Thank you Michelle!! Hope you try it out and let me know how it goes🤩
I recommend storing it in a dry storage closet were there is no humidity. Just make sure its totally cooled down before wrapping it in plastic to avoid any condensation inside, and then just put inside an air tight container. It should be good for 6 months +. I check every time before using just to be extra safe.❤️

Thanks for the recipe. I wonder if I could add a few drops of essential oil to this. Just think about it: instead of the strong chemical smell of the store-bought stuff we could have eucalyptus or peppermint-scented playdough.

Somehow I managed to fail the "failproof" playdough hahahahaha. No hate on the recipe. In all fairness, we put the oil in (and mixed) and then the boiling water! Oops. It still turned out ok (despite the lumps)! We will try again.

I tried making a couple of times but it is too sticky and wet :( Maybe because I live in a humid country here in Malaysia. Will attempt again with less water / more flour.
Does the oil matter? Because I used coconut oil twice and grapeseed oil once.

    • @MOTHERCOULD
      @MOTHERCOULD  3 роки тому

Oh no! Miami is super humid too, that shouldn't happen. Try letting it cool down first before adding any more water to the mixture.
