OMG! That was the quickest play dough ever! Making it for the casting of handprints of my grandsons for their mommy and daddy as a Christmas gift. Thank you so much.
I used to work in daycare and made bigger batches of essentially this same recipe, but the recipes I used all called for mixing everything together in a pot and heating until it started thickening. That way, you know any bacteria should be gone...though kids have ways of adding the bacteria right back!
I make this for my granddaughters all the time and they love it! I have to use quite a bit of extra flour but have never compacted it like that. Thanks for the pro tip. I’m going to try a batch today to see if that makes the difference.
Yes exactly! It is not edible, it is taste safe. So in case they do bring it up to their mouths it will be okay. The important step is to add the boiling water when its boiling so that it kills the bacteria on the raw flour.
I know your comment is years old but my toddler just likes to put things in his mouth so I have been opting for taste/safe recipes just in case he does. I imagine it wouldn’t taste very good to him but it’s non toxic so he usually spits it out when he realises what he’s doing 😂
This is hands down the best play dough recipe I’ve used! Took less than 5 mins to make. Feels far better than store bought play dough and thankfully, is safe around my 1yo which was a concern for me with other dough. My 3yo is having blast 😊 Thanks for your recipe!!
Can’t wait to make this for my classroom! Does anyone know: Could it be stored in jelly mason jars without plastic wrap? Or a ziploc bag with the air burped out? Edit: I made this and followed the exact recipe + instructions, it was waaay too sticky and more like wet cookie dough. I thought her measuring cup of flour looked like more than 1 cup, and this definitely took an extra half a cup to set right.
Thank you for this super easy and super quick recipe for playdoh. I tried it with my daughter and it turned out perfectly. It is gonna keep her occupied for abit while i can get other things done. 😂 Thank you again. Love all your ideas!
Thank you Michelle!! Hope you try it out and let me know how it goes🤩 I recommend storing it in a dry storage closet were there is no humidity. Just make sure its totally cooled down before wrapping it in plastic to avoid any condensation inside, and then just put inside an air tight container. It should be good for 6 months +. I check every time before using just to be extra safe.❤️
I just made it Looks great and i acutely add cinnamon it's smells good I was wondering though why its sticking to my hand ?? I measure everything as you doo
Thanks for the recipe. I wonder if I could add a few drops of essential oil to this. Just think about it: instead of the strong chemical smell of the store-bought stuff we could have eucalyptus or peppermint-scented playdough.
Somehow I managed to fail the "failproof" playdough hahahahaha. No hate on the recipe. In all fairness, we put the oil in (and mixed) and then the boiling water! Oops. It still turned out ok (despite the lumps)! We will try again.
If you want an accurate measure for the flour use grams. Especially because "1 cup" are different volumes in different countries e.g. Canada, Australia, and most places 1 cup = 250ml, America 1 cup = 240ml. A gram measurement is always the same, always accurate, and always easy.
Mine is watery and runny and it's not hot anymore partially mush 😩 we did everything just like the video don't know why we got this consistency this sucks
I tried making a couple of times but it is too sticky and wet :( Maybe because I live in a humid country here in Malaysia. Will attempt again with less water / more flour. Does the oil matter? Because I used coconut oil twice and grapeseed oil once.
My Child, You may not know me, but I know everything about you. (Psalm 139:1) I know when you sit down and when you rise up. (Psalm 139:2) I am familiar with all your ways. That's amazing!! Please let me know how it goes, I love to see you guys try it at home ❤️🤩
Just made it with my daughter, followed the video precisely, absolutely amazing!
The idea is they don’t eat it but if they did it’s ok right? New grandma here. I’m following you so you can help me be the cool fun grandma.

Very nice playdoh❤
Thank you
I made this for my younger brother. Worked out very well😊
It came out perfect when I use 1/2 a cup of hot water for 1 cup of all purpose flour.
Made it for my grandson, can't wait for him to play with it. It was very easy to make it. Thank you!

Fantastic! Just made it for my daughter. It came together just as shown and was super easy, and she is having a blast!
I love your ideas- thank you!
Do you recommend storing it at room temperature or in the fridge?
Thank you Michelle!! Hope you try it out and let me know how it goes🤩

Is there any substitute for cream of tartar?
Thanks for the recipe. I wonder if I could add a few drops of essential oil to this. Just think about it: instead of the strong chemical smell of the store-bought stuff we could have eucalyptus or peppermint-scented playdough.
Mine is plastic wrapper with ziplock bag. Should in fidget?
Best play doh wow cool 🎉🎉❤
Awesome!!!
Thank you so much for this recipe!
My pleasure 😊
1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt and 1/2 cup of just hot water also works
Does the food color stain things?
If it’s too sticky? Do I add flour?
Bestie help me out 😔🙏 how long would the clay last?
6months
Is it really safe to taste with all that salt in it?
Somehow I managed to fail the "failproof" playdough hahahahaha. No hate on the recipe. In all fairness, we put the oil in (and mixed) and then the boiling water! Oops. It still turned out ok (despite the lumps)! We will try again.
Is the flour all purpose flour?

Next day it turns out so sticky any specific storage idea?
Mine is watery and runny and it's not hot anymore partially mush 😩 we did everything just like the video don't know why we got this consistency this sucks
Rather than cooking oil, can I use baby oil?
Should be fine! Probably better tbh just maybe more costly
Idk if it's just me but when I make this recipe the salt is so drying to the hand 😩
I tried making a couple of times but it is too sticky and wet :( Maybe because I live in a humid country here in Malaysia. Will attempt again with less water / more flour.
Does the oil matter? Because I used coconut oil twice and grapeseed oil once.
Oh no! Miami is super humid too, that shouldn't happen. Try letting it cool down first before adding any more water to the mixture.
I’m making mine right now and it’s too sticky. 😢
Mines didn’t turn out the same 😢
First time making it and mine came out SUPER sticky- literally got stuck to my whole hand. I followed the instructions to the T. Help😫
Add more flour.
What's the ratio of water ect....?
I wanted to make Play-Doh but I can look at my grandma just want to
How much water do I boil
I followed the recipe and it's too sticky, it feels like gum, what can I do, can I fix it? help😢
cheak if ur cream of tartar is any good
Add more flour or tartar
So you add it all the stuff just to make Play-Doh
I've made this 3 times and gotten 3 fairly different outcomes. Idk what's going on
How much water
Can I store it on a ziplock bag?
Am I the only child running around for ingredients at home-
Did you straight up steal the description?😊
Why are you using hot water instead of just cold water?
To kill the bacteria in the flour in order to make it safe in case a child tries to taste it.
Why is there residue on my hands i cant figure it out i have teied everything
cheak if ur cream of tartar is any good
Ive made a lot of play dough, this one was very sticky!
I followed the directions but unfortunately didn’t work for me. It turned out feeling like bubble gum so sticky. 😢
cheak if ur cream of tartar is any good
Add more flour
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
