They won't sell in the U.S. Market because of the "Scope Clause" agreement with the Pilots Union. Right now....the only aircraft currently accepted under that agreement is the Embraer 175. Once you take out the huge U.S. Market....that drastically changes your plans.
The 175E2 hasn’t been put on hold for unknown reason. The new engines make the aircraft heavier putting it out of the US scope clause. As US regional airlines are the main customers, they are waiting for the review of the scope clause in 2025 to see if changes will be applied to accommodate the E2

Embraer has some damage control to do in Asia after an Indonesian airline signed up with them on condition that they would establish local servicing and then they didn't. Good aircraft but they need to look after their customers.
What do you mean Airbus is copying Boeing? Airbus has been the market leader for several years now! Embraer got right what Boing got wrong. That slightly "gull" shaped wing gave them the added room for the high efficiency engines. If Boing had spent the time and money to alter the 737 wing they would not be in the fix they are in now.
In american regional aviation, there are directives that stipulate a maximum number of seats as well as the weight of aircraft for these routes. The reasons for the postponement of version 2 were because in this new version with more efficient and economical engines, the aircraft had a slight increase in weight above the previous one, making a change in this regard necessary.
Embraer's are awesome, but the Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan engine is causing WAY more problems than expected, even if it is the most efficient and technologically advanced solution for the future of the jet turbine. Until they fix that, the E2 and any aircraft depending on them like half Airbus' neo fleet will be on Pause.
They need to do an E175 E2 for the US market. The E175E2 has been planned by Embraer but it has not been officially announced and production has not commenced. US regional airlines operate hundreds of Embraer E170 and E175 jets, but they're beginning to show their age.
