I've put up with the ads and music interruptions for years, so it is nice to be able to listen to a full album w/o loud, overblown ads ruining the vibe.
I use UA-cam more and for originals it's much better, but Netflix has a much bigger library in general. Google music was merged into UA-cam Music, so I got it for that, or I would have lost my music downloads. It's worth it for the music alone. If you have a premium account you can download and save all the music you want. If you're going to be somewhere without cell service or wifi you can download music and still listen to it.

It's amazing how UA-cam has conditioned the used to accept longer and more ads over time. It started obviously with no ads, then went to very short ads that you could click off after a few seconds...it was really no bother at this point. Now it's two sets of longer ads multiple times throughout even the shortest and dumbest videos. It's just horrible. The market needs to respond with a new app that doesn't make you choose between all these ads or paying premium per month.
Don't forget that if you are a university student you can take advantage of the student discount. Although in the United States (Unsure if it applies anywhere else) this means you won't be able to make a student discounted family plan, which sucks... but hey, it is a discount so it is definitely something.
Well if you just want to use that you can open youtube with a browser on your phone and then start the site in "desktop mode". Running in desktop mode you can play music in the background! Works well for me

I had been watching my church and other faith based programs, listening to music and hadn't even thought about it being fee based. When I saw there as a fee, after a year or so, I was going to drop it. Yes, I didn't check my cc to see that I was being charged. When I saw the fee I was going to drop and go to free. After listening your review, I'm keeping it. The music is great and no ads. Plus didn't know about the originals going to check those out too. We retired people have to make sure we're getting the most for the $ and this is a keeper. Hmmmm if only we had UA-cam in the 60's now that would have been awesome

I have student plan and I been using premium for like 2 years now. For 7CAD I say it's worth it. I prefer UA-cam music over Spotify cause a lot of the stuff I listen to like live concerts aren't on Spotify. And that's 5 bucks on its own. So I was like why the hell not it's only 2 bucks extra for UA-cam premium.no ads feels really good although I don't notice it on desktop. I like background play but honestly that shouldnt be a paid feature.
i dont have any social media accounts, i almost only use my phone for youtube, apple music and some online shopping apps. i really like that i don’t need to go through the ads or need to skip them, and i share my subscription with my whole family. youtube music is really cool if you listen to some artists that aren’t on spotify or apple music because you can listen to them there if they have a song uploaded on youtube even if it’s just fan made.

I started the free trial about a week ago. I watch a ton of UA-cam, and so far, I am liking the ad-free and having access to the music has been nice. I will decide in the next month if I will keep it. I probably will.
DUBU TWICE you can start a free trial and literally cancel the subscription 5 minutes later, you’ll still have access to premium for the rest of the month but won’t be automatically charged once the free trial ends. There’s ways to do all of this on a normal iPhone apart from no ads you can download via pasting the url into a website, and locking your phone whilst playing via desktop mode on web browsers.
I started to add up all the time waisted on the adds and the number of clicks to close adds after how many second. Once I started during the free week or 2 it was very clear it is worth it. I also notice 4 accounts I have all have no adds.
Thanks! I've been wondering what UA-cam Premium was all about. They keep pushing it at me, but I never really knew what they were selling. Only two of the features interest me. I almost never watch television, so I don't give a rodent's rump about UA-cam Originals. We have SiriusXM, so I wouldn't use their music. Getting rid of ads would be the main perk, especially now that they're pushing more and more of them during the videos I'm watching. The interruptions are quite annoying. And some of the ads before the videos cannot be skipped - like I really need to sit through a 15 second commercial for kiddy toys, feminine hygiene products, drugs for medical issues I don't have, and other stuff I don't care about. Some of the commercials are so annoying that I stop the video altogether and watch something else instead. Or just close UA-cam and find something better to do. There's always something better to do. Oh well. 😖
UA-cam premium is not worth it and you can use an adblocker chrome extension to block ads on all websites including UA-cam and use an online UA-cam video downloader to download UA-cam videos instead. And that’s basically UA-cam premium but free
I subbed to premium just for that reason only.. no ads.. and now the vloggers are doing ads.... promoting their 'sponsors'. I know they need to make money but it's getting ridiculous.
I suggest signing up for the family plan if people have family/friends they want to share movies and apps with. even if it's just one other person it's completely worth it. I think it's $15/Month and you can share between yourself and 4 others, very cool service. My son and daughter and I like a lot of the same movies and games and you only have to buy a movie once and everyone can enjoy it, amazing. The same works for games/apps that you buy and of course the Google Music.

I don't use Spotify so YM is the service and I hate adds so this is the dealbreaker for me. Background play has turned out to be really nice. Also turns out that it has a few albums spotify don't have from music I listened to in the early 2000s so that's a huge plus.

the major difference is youtube charges $11.99 for a ad free experience but if you break down the yearly crunchyroll subscription it only ends up costing $5.00 a month. it would be nice if the subscription price for youtube was a little cheaper.

Also I think the price Vs the limited original content they offer is very high. This should cost Disney + money, 6.99, not 11.99 ! Yup, it's worth it for me. I hate all ads on anything, lol! So ya for me it's a no brainer because I'm too OCD & those interruptions mess up my flow 😜 It would drive me crazy having to wait it out (yup a little inpatient too, haha) or press skip before I subscribed. I just want to say, they have a student discount of 50% off, and for me who watches a lot of UA-cam on a lot of different platforms, has plenty of creators I want to support, at that price its worth it. But I really wish they almost had a UA-cam premium lite (No Ads, Background Playing, PIP) for like $7~6hrs.
I was considering dropping YT Premium in order to save money, but I download a lot of videos because I'm often in places where I don't get good internet access, so I'll keep it.
You can download UA-cam vanced from the play store. It's free and it has all of the features of UA-cam premium. You get no ads, you don't have to pay a penny, you can even lock your phone. You can open up other apps or games etc and it will continue to play in your ears.
I have been to watch "near hour" long videos that are discussion or original music. Getting rid of the interrupting ads is reason enough. I don't use Spotify or any other music service, so this may become a bonus. As for their original content, I've not seen enough to make me even watch to see the opening credits much less sit through one episode. I got an email for a three month trial. I think after seeing this info here, I'll at least give it a try.

Yes! Its wonderful! I'm so glad I upgraded. I use UA-cam to fall asleep to, or entertain and educate myself on my many fibromyalgia insomnia nights, and the adverts annoyed me when I was awake, or actually woke me up if I had been sleeping. Also, I love that UA-cam continues in the background, and I can still do my emails, notes etc.

Even if you're not into DnD, I still highly recommend giving Critical Role a watch. The players and the DM are all professional voice actors, primarily in gaming. Several of them do the voices for characters in Hearthstone, as well. Like Laura Bailey, who is the voice of Jaina.
I tried UA-cam premium for 6 months. To me YT music is the same as Spotify. I guess I don’t use Spotify to it’s full potential but that’s ok. Love being able to play YT in the background. My kids take advantage of the downloading and saving videos. $9.99 Spotify vs $11.99 YTP isn’t much of a difference. I stopped YTP this month, and we all HATE YT now! Lol. Going back to Premium. You can have Premium on like 5 different devices (same email account) and watch ad free videos. You can only listen to YT music on one device at a time though. If you watch a lot of UA-cam and have kids and stream music through Google home, Alexa etc. it’s worth it.
If you are on YT 1 to 2 hours a day and you listen to music...it's worth it...being able to play music over other apps and while in sleep mode is great...no question about it😉
Ngl, when I read that you could play videos in the background, I thought it would be like Netflix or Hulu where the video plays in a small screen while doing something else on the phone.
Others have already said it, but the ability to listen to videos in other apps is great, but also being able to listen to videos in the car (for me), especially on long drives, makes it more than worth it. Also, it shouldn't be understated, but the picture in picture mode is terrific. I will be watching a video, and then write an email/text or go into another app, and I can still watch it in the little resizeable screen in the corner, that can be moved around. I can't give up these features after using it for a year or so... I will say, one time my sub ended for premium, and going back to watching multiple unskippable ads was awful, I totally took it for granted/forgot just how pestering the ads were. Definitely worth it, get the family plan and invite 5 people to share it for $20, maybe y'all can split it, and it will be even cheaper. Great service.
A lots changed in 15yrs.. ie open 1 tab for music, 1tab for maker video while another for work.. Nowadays need to consider half at least is ads this losing half your time and half data which is £10 spent too and interrupt train of thought or attention, plus only one tab only ATM.
You can look at it like this UA-cam Premium is alright if you want to support your content creators while still enjoying their videos without ads. I guess, if you have excess money, it would be better to purchase it solely support your content creators and the freebies would be just the benefits shown in this video. Win win for both consumer and creators.

I have student plan and I been using premium for like 2 years now. For 7CAD I say it's worth it. I prefer UA-cam music over Spotify cause a lot of the stuff I listen to like live concerts aren't on Spotify. And that's 5 bucks on its own. So I was like why the hell not it's only 2 bucks extra for UA-cam premium.no ads feels really good although I don't notice it on desktop. I like background play but honestly that shouldnt be a paid feature.

i dont have any social media accounts, i almost only use my phone for youtube, apple music and some online shopping apps. i really like that i don’t need to go through the ads or need to skip them, and i share my subscription with my whole family. youtube music is really cool if you listen to some artists that aren’t on spotify or apple music because you can listen to them there if they have a song uploaded on youtube even if it’s just fan made.

I clicked on this because I am trying to find a video about how UA-cam is NOT worth it. My father has 17 monthly subscriptions (YT, Spotify, cable, Netflix, Prime, etc). It's ridiculous. I started the free trial about a week ago. I watch a ton of UA-cam, and so far, I am liking the ad-free and having access to the music has been nice. I will decide in the next month if I will keep it. I probably will.

There’s ways to do all of this on a normal iPhone apart from no ads you can download via pasting the url into a website, and locking your phone whilst playing via desktop mode on web browsers.
I started to add up all the time waisted on the adds and the number of clicks to close adds after how many second. Once I started during the free week or 2 it was very clear it is worth it. I also notice 4 accounts I have all have no adds.

Only two of the features interest me. I almost never watch television, so I don't give a rodent's rump about UA-cam Originals. We have SiriusXM, so I wouldn't use their music.
Getting rid of ads would be the main perk, especially now that they're pushing more and more of them during the videos I'm watching. The interruptions are quite annoying.
And some of the ads before the videos cannot be skipped - like I really need to sit through a 15 second commercial for kiddy toys, feminine hygiene products, drugs for medical issues I don't have, and other stuff I don't care about.
Some of the commercials are so annoying that I stop the video altogether and watch something else instead. Or just close UA-cam and find something better to do. There's always something better to do.

UA-cam premium is not worth it and you can use an adblocker chrome extension to block ads on all websites including UA-cam and use an online UA-cam video downloader to download UA-cam videos instead. And that’s basically UA-cam premium but free
I subbed to premium just for that reason only.. no ads.. and now the vloggers are doing ads.... promoting their 'sponsors'. I know they need to make money but it's getting ridiculous.

I suggest signing up for the family plan if people have family/friends they want to share movies and apps with. even if it's just one other person it's completely worth it. I think it's $15/Month and you can share between yourself and 4 others, very cool service. My son and daughter and I like a lot of the same movies and games and you only have to buy a movie once and everyone can enjoy it, amazing. The same works for games/apps that you buy and of course the Google Music.

UA-cam won't stop bugging me about UA-cam premium. I had my headphones on and I didn't realise but I had my volume at Max. Keep in mind I usually have my volume at 10% and it's pretty loud. And the loudest UA-cam premium ad comes on and starts like DUN UA-cam PREMIUM IS AMAZING GET IT. And now my ears hurt. I hate UA-cam premium

I don't use Spotify so YM is the service and I hate adds so this is the dealbreaker for me. Background play has turned out to be really nice. Also turns out that it has a few albums spotify don't have from music I listened to in the early 2000s so that's a huge plus.

the major difference is youtube charges $11.99 for a ad free experience but if you break down the yearly crunchyroll subscription it only ends up costing $5.00 a month. it would be nice if the subscription price for youtube was a little cheaper.

I am curious, what happens to the downloaded videos if you stop subscribing ? Are they available outside UA-cam or it's more like Netflix where you have to access the service first ? Also I think the price Vs the limited original content they offer is very high. This should cost Disney + money, 6.99, not 11.99 ! At 6.99 would be an easy choice but the current price is a lot, especially if you already subscribe to Netflix, Amazon and Disney +.

I just want to say, they have a student discount of 50% off, and for me who watches a lot of UA-cam on a lot of different platforms, has plenty of creators I want to support, at that price its worth it.
But I really wish they almost had a UA-cam premium lite (No Ads, Background Playing, PIP) for like $7~6hrs.

I was considering dropping YT Premium in order to save money, but I download a lot of videos because I'm often in places where I don't get good internet access, so I'll keep it.
You can download UA-cam vanced from the play store. It's free and it has all of the features of UA-cam premium. You get no ads, you don't have to pay a penny, you can even lock your phone. You can open up other apps or games etc and it will continue to play in your ears.

I have been to watch "near hour" long videos that are discussion or original music. Getting rid of the interrupting ads is reason enough.
I don't use Spotify or any other music service, so this may become a bonus. As for their original content, I've not seen enough to make me even watch to see the opening credits much less sit through one episode.

I really hate it because I will tap on a video but it will be buffering so I'll turn off my phone and watch it later. When I get back it just says "videos cannot be played in the background" and you cannot access the video unless you exit the video and somehow find it again.

No. UA-cam Premium doesn't affect your creator account in any way. You still can't use copyrighted material.
We all forget that we have become ytubers because it was free and ‘thinking’ of us. Suddenly yt is taking an advantage of that. On principle I am saying No to premium

Yes! Its wonderful! I'm so glad I upgraded. I use UA-cam to fall asleep to, or entertain and educate myself on my many fibromyalgia insomnia nights, and the adverts annoyed me when I was awake, or actually woke me up if I had been sleeping. Also, I love that UA-cam continues in the background, and I can still do my emails, notes etc.
the only issue i have is that you cant minimize the video on ios to where you can watch it while on other apps. probably something they shpuld fix.

Even if you're not into DnD, I still highly recommend giving Critical Role a watch. The players and the DM are all professional voice actors, primarily in gaming.

I tried UA-cam premium for 6 months. To me YT music is the same as Spotify. I guess I don’t use Spotify to it’s full potential but that’s ok. Love being able to play YT in the background. My kids take advantage of the downloading and saving videos. $9.99 Spotify vs $11.99 YTP isn’t much of a difference. I stopped YTP this month, and we all HATE YT now! Lol. Going back to Premium. You can have Premium on like 5 different devices (same email account) and watch ad free videos. You can only listen to YT music on one device at a time though. If you watch a lot of UA-cam and have kids and stream music through Google home, Alexa etc. it’s worth it.

If you are on YT 1 to 2 hours a day and you listen to music...it's worth it...being able to play music over other apps and while in sleep mode is great...no question about it😉

Others have already said it, but the ability to listen to videos in other apps is great, but also being able to listen to videos in the car (for me), especially on long drives, makes it more than worth it. Also, it shouldn't be understated, but the picture in picture mode is terrific. I will be watching a video, and then write an email/text or go into another app, and I can still watch it in the little resizeable screen in the corner, that can be moved around. I can't give up these features after using it for a year or so... I will say, one time my sub ended for premium, and going back to watching multiple unskippable ads was awful, I totally took it for granted/forgot just how pestering the ads were. Definitely worth it, get the family plan and invite 5 people to share it for $20, maybe y'all can split it, and it will be even cheaper. Great service.
I use a Huawei phone, so I can listen to UA-cam while on another app through split screen mode.
A lots changed in 15yrs.. ie open 1 tab for music, 1tab for maker video while another for work.. Nowadays need to consider half at least is ads this losing half your time and half data which is £10 spent too and interrupt train of thought or attention, plus only one tab only ATM.

I guess, if you have excess money, it would be better to purchase it solely support your content creators and the freebies would be just the benefits shown in this video.
