I own them both so obviously to me they both have a place in your collection…the sinn wears slightly smaller due to the curved down lugs and is worn for any strenuous/dangerous activity where the watch may take a beating…fishing biking free diving yard work etc…the sub honestly is worn mostly at home enjoying pool bbqing having company etc but they are both thoroughly enjoyed and are very capable, reliable and fantastic wearing watches
I think a collection can accommodate both of these pieces. Big fan of both brands and they make watches that serve different tastes, audiences, and activities.
I find it funny that people still unironically debate the use activities of these watches as if they will ever wear them beyond the desk or a wading pool.
if it do want to wear any £10,000 plus watch in an activity that you know might scratch it up (i.e. a beater) then it has nothing to do with affordability,. Rolex are designed for show now, long gone are the tool watch days
The Sub has become merely a statement and a men's jewellery piece, the Sinn EZMs are serious tool watches, i.e. you can wear them anywhere and for any occasion without bothering about any scratch significantly decreasing its value. Also, the resale value may not be above retail, but certainly not much below retail, either. I had been wearing an EZM2 for several years and I loved it!
In terms of movement and bracelet, the Submariner but Sinn is definitely an amazing manufacturer of hard-wearing tool purpose-built tool watches. I’ve bought and sold a Submariner and two Explorers but kept my 656. Rolex movements are built like tanks and I’ll never badmouth them but I wish the Crown would release a new printed dial 1016. Also wish Sinn would bring back the 656 and regulate the movement to Chronometer specifications.
I bought a kermit a year after the launch. It was the 1st , I think, time Rolex was inscribing the Rolex insignia inside the crystal about the 6. The shop owner didn't know this until I enlightened him after the sale. $5500 out the door. I have seen it for years, it's too damn pretty to wear. It's in the safety deposit box. I have plenty of other watches to knock around. The reason I put the Kermit away is after a motor crash that was half way serious my TAG Link Magnum certified chronometer,my .32 Seacamp pistol, and a couple hundred bucks cash were removed from my person. I vaguely remember a " concerned motorist" walk ing me around a minute or two after I regained consciousness. It was a male he did not hang around or call 911 or wait til I was fully myself.🤔👍
Such an iconic tool-watch - basically, what the Rolex used to be before they went all out on the luxury front. I've never owned a Sinn but, being German myself, this thing is high on my list. Can't quite believe how well it seems to wear on a wrist slimmer than my own - 41mm case diameter is usually too large for my 17cm wrist, but I guess thanks to its lug-/case- design and relatively flat case, I should be able to pull off the EZM3. I also don't doubt this one will run within COSC - "Top" grade has, IIRC, the same technical specs as the COSC SW200 - all it lacks from the factory is the certification and the additional adjustment needed to gain that certificate. I used to own a watch with a well regulated ETA 2824 Top grade and that thing was incredibly accurate (rock solid +2s/d in daily wear).
I don't believe the hex heads on the Sinn are for applying more torque when adjusting, but for better tool to head contact. I own two of these bracelets, one screw head and the other hex (allen key) head. No way do they require tension tightening, they just need a dab of thread lock and left to to dry at zero torque. The head won't snap when tightened up, but when released it will if it's been over tightened previously. The crown position to the left (destro) has nothing to do with firearms handling but rather simplify pulling a dry suit on.
Sinn’s has such a broad product line. One of the few brands I own several models. I also own a Rolex and it has taken a beating (mostly when I forget to take off while playing golf), and keeps in ticking. Can’t go wrong with either brand. That said my Sinn’s are worn more simply because they’re tanks and I don’t care if they’re abused.
Thanks for the versus, Tim, not an obvious one but really fun to see. Sinn would be the one for me. Would love to wear it and without any concerns or fear. If money were no object, I would buy both!
I have the Sinn EZM 3F variant; with the F standing for Flieger. Differences are: the hour numerals are absent, the date wheel has white date numerals, the bezel is a bi-directional countdown bezel, it has 1,000 gauss magnetic protection and the water resistant is 200m. It is otherwise identical. I have it on the bracelet, The bracelet is good in itself, but it's the clasp that lets it down, being a bit basic and having no toolless quick adjust. I bought it as a beater and to take places where it would be unwise to wear a more expensive watch. The one thing I wish Sinn would do is to offer these EZM 3 and 3F references with a tegiment option. Tegiment would make it a killer piece even if it cost 300 or 400 more. Good watch, but Tegiment and a proper toolless quick adjust would make it a great one.
quick set for the width? In winter there is another sizwöe needed than in summer. Got the ezm 3 since 14 yrs and i am quite happy. the bezel is not locking, the glass lost the anti reflect coating and the caliber runs,a bit to slow. But o wore it a lot as a daily rocker. still like it much, greets from wurzburg
Love my ezm3, however it is not as versatile. And what I mean, is that it is strictly a tool watch. It does not wear well with nicer outfits. I happen to think it stands out like a sore thumb while wearing nice clothes. EZM3 is absolutely great with black T-shirts, and a pair of jeans. But a nice dress shirt? Forget it. I think it has to do with the bead blasted finish. And perhaps the shape of the lugs. It just cannot pass for a dressy timepiece. Which is understandable, as it absolutely was not designed to be dressy. But with Rolex, it can be a great tool watch, as well as a great dress watch. This makes it more versatile. I personally do not own a Rolex, I have a Tudor. But same concept still applies. My Tudor looks awesome with a dress shirt. And also looks awesome with jeans and a black T-shirt. It can go both ways, whereas the Sinn cannot. Sinn is strictly tool. Just be aware of that, if considering getting one.
Tim, I think you're spot on. I have the money for a Submariner, but even if it's undoubtedly a much better watch, I don't think it is so by factor of 4.7 times. So I would go for the Sinn, whose value for money is exceptional. Plus, this is a watch I'd have no qualms wearing in places where watch robbery might be an issue. It doesn't attract as much attention, and even if you get robbed, it costs you a fraction of the price of the Rolex to replace.
Unless Rolex ADs open up and be sincere in fulfillment.. I will buy the SINN and other brands which I already did. VC, Chopard, Zenith, Horage and SInn. If Rolex doesnt need us, we dont need it either. Rather hug my bank in bed then to swap it for an inflated clock!
Us? Their market share is 30%, this translates to one of every 3 Swiss luxury watches sold is a Rolex. They’re not vanishing into thin air. AD and Grey market safes can only hold so many Rolex.
"The most recognizable face in all horoligy" is exactly Rolex's problem. Their accountants would probably disagree, LOL. However, I wouldn't wear one because every brand name, including microbrands and Chinese knockoffs, make this watch. As a result, the design has become boring, though not at the fault of Rolex. Now the Sinn.... There is a unique, purposeful design that stands out in the crowd! For me, even at the same price, Sinn gets my hard earned dollar.
The Sinn is a great looking watch, but 500m is not an advantage; anything over 200m is basically useless (indeed for 99.9% of divers anything over 100m is useless). The depth ratings are just advertising hype…
Eh they make thin, tough, simple watches. Sub is a joy to wear. The baggage isn’t ideal but I’ve only had one person remark on it here. 16yr old kid working at ace.
The Sinn is too busy for my taste. Looks a bit cheap. Fine watch non-the-less but the Rolex is in a different league. I have the same model in my collection. Wear it often & thankfully nobody has noticed.
The Sinn looks cheap? 😂 No offense against Rolex watches. But literally every tourist shop has at least 7 fake-submariners for 10.99$. The Submariner is the king of cheap looking watches
DEAR TIM, HAPPY NEW YEAR. 🙏 GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. I HOPE ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST AND HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH. I LOVE MR. ESPARZA AND ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS SO VERY MUCH. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN A MIRACLE AND A MIRACLE AND A MIRACLE. 🙏 SINCERELY PETER
great review as always and i absolutely dont want to throw shade (like what you like) but that Sinn looks like unfinished trash. For that price point, no professional diver is using this as a tool watch, i want my 'luxury' watch to look like a luxury watch.
Sinn is worn by real divers and special forces and has the pedigree to show it. The new Rolex is worn by “office divers” who have no clue about diving.

An awesome out-of-the-box comparison
I find it funny that people still unironically debate the use activities of these watches as if they will ever wear them beyond the desk or a wading pool.
@@robertposteschild2353 I obviously don't mean diving lol. Just that the Rolex can be more formal while the Sinn can be a true beater type watch.
@@_DioBrando_ Both can be formal or beaters. If you dont want to scratch your sub it probably means you can't afford it.
if it do want to wear any £10,000 plus watch in an activity that you know might scratch it up (i.e. a beater) then it has nothing to do with affordability,. Rolex are designed for show now, long gone are the tool watch days
Amazing and detailed study
Keep it up Tim
Keep em coming Tim!

It's ugly as Sinn
You can wear any watch without bothering about the resale value. If you obsess over scratching your watch, you probably can't afford it.
i own both and i love them both
Rolex is one of my favourite brands.. most stunning watches ever.. these are the awesome designs..
Looking nice hope so quality would be reasonable 👌
How accurate is the Sinn watch ?
Sinn all day long!!!!!! For the reasons everybody eles is going to put in the comments! So dont need to explain 🤣 Well done Tim.
Nice comparison
Nice face off, Tim.
I've been considering and saving for the Sinn before you did this video.

Amazing look
Absolutely right ❤❤
Sinn all day!
Loved this kind of video Tim 👍
My pleasure. It's counter-intuitive, but I love to show that fun is possible for a LOT less money than the usual suspects cost.
Best,
Tim

The 856 model is the resolve.
new clasp available ... around 250,-, Tegiment would be great indeed but I have no issues with my 3F ... great watch which runs +2 seconds a day!
Both are my fvrt ♥️
Beautiful dials
Submariner is my go to choice
It's original??
Wonderful
Outstanding
I want the bracelet

That Sinn is so impressive!!
mazing watch loved it amazing design beautiful
Great
Super ❤
Fun!
All that tech and watch but they are only as strong as their pins! Bring in the Pelagos FXd!
Nice👍👍👍👍
Beautiful
Wonderful✨😍
That sub looks like it was never worn. Real shame that that's where we are in the watch world.
I mean you’re basically paying $16,000 for a well-made but run of the mill dive watch.
I’ll take the Sinn all day.
Mitigate fit issues, not mitigate against fit issues.
sinn❤
Keep it up
Great comparison! Comparing a professor with 70 years education and experience to a student with no experience or education! Extreme Analogy!😂
I love my EZM just not a Rolex guy
I’m still surprised that Sinn doesn’t have a tegimented 40mm EZM diver case unlike the somewhat overpriced U50 and now T50
Green watch
To me the 126610 is the perfect watch. I cant think of a downside except the price tag.
the 3235 movement is less proven than the 3135 but I'm nitpicking, it's indeed a piece of art

ZRC watches has solved the problem of the crown putting it at 6pm ;)
👍🏻
Wonderful✨😍 super

Sinn!!

This is all we get this morning??? 😡
Wow
So I can buy this Sinn and 856, 903 and U1 or U50 for this Rolex! Hmmm ....!!! 😂😂😂

Sinn for the win
Woww
The Rolex is just for cosplaying as a man. The Sinn is for actually being a man.
I deserve that gift me
Most folks buying Rolex pretty much want to draw unwanted attention
Eh they make thin, tough, simple watches. Sub is a joy to wear. The baggage isn’t ideal but I’ve only had one person remark on it here. 16yr old kid working at ace.
Wouldn’t pay secondary prices though. At retail, I can justify it.
I wouldn't say a sub is the best way to do that, kermit is maybe okay for it
If you want attention and you're looking at sub, maybe go with Yacht Master 1, more flashy for sure
argon filled
If humans ever goes extinct, the aliens would found the Earth hundreds of years later... along with the Rolexes... as their new currency.
