Thanks so much. I used this method to retrieve the radio serial number as my Jag (08) previously had a new clutch fitted and radio was completely removed. I found it hard to find the pin code. I tried other methods I read online stating that "below the radio, press the >>, PTY and A.MEM button and it automatically resets itself", That did not work on mine. So I took the car to my local auto electrician to have the unit removed . I was asked to pay £30.00, I thought to myself I will try it myself. As a woman, I do not accept defeat easily so I came online to check for videos. Luckily I did not have to search for long before I saw your video. After watching it twice I went for my toolbox and grabbed the few tools needed, In less than an hour, I removed and re installed the unit back. I just wanna say thanks so much for saving me £30.00 to retrieve the radio serial number. Please do you have videos on central locking on Jags? My local mechanic messed up the c/locking on my car. Please help!
I followed the instructions and was able to remove the darn thing. My cd player still has my Hotel California in it that I can't get out. How ironic, huh. I guess my next move is to locate another player and swap it, tear the old one apart and get my cd. First time I played it in there. Thanks for the vid. It was a huge help.
Thanks for the video. I just bought a 2004 X-Type Estate and there was a problem with the touch screen, it would only respond to touch in the centre. Your video was a great help in removing the unit and then I just took it apart and put it back together again and everything worked fine.
The video that was posted for this removal... In actuality it was an aftermarket going back to factory. There were problems, most were caused by the hack aftermarket installation and three blown fuses. However, the original message was for installing aftermarket - we don't do aftermarket installation. We are located in Longwood, Fl.
thxs. sounds to me like when customer first installed the after market products kept the original wiring that's why all those problems. I was researching for long time and ended selling my X-Type to get another one with premiun audio-nav system. believe it or not the difference I paid was similar to upgrading the stereo in my car. My opinion such upgrade is worth it when you can do it on your own, if you have to pay for labor then is better to trade your car in!
They are a plastic pry tool set, they can be found here in the USA at Harbor Freight. Try a hardware or auto parts store for them. As for the adaptor... There are many manufacturers for these devices, search the internet for "aux-in adaptor".
the explanation was excellent. The reason I need to do this my radio/clock display does not illuminate at night - although the unit works perfectly. Can you tell me if there is a fuse in back of the radio that controls the light function ? thanks ray clark
No aftermarket installation. I suggest visiting several of your local installation shops for their opinion. The Jaguar in this video was a removal of an aftermarket stereo and reinstallation of the factory unit. There was a spaghetti mess that needed to be straightened out along with replacing several fuses in the car. In some cases, features on the factory stereo are lost with aftermarket.
Where do those fiber optics (white plug) coming off the old radio lead to? How would you connect them to an aftermarket radio that has no fiber optic jacks? Your help is much appreciated.
I have managed to remove the unit but not sure how to replace the bulb in the lower section which does not light up. Do I need to remove a panel to access the bulb?
How do you make the Bluetooth work? My stereo is just like this one with all of the Bluetooth buttons but I can't get it to do any Bluetooth functions.
I need to know too ! Is it possible to change the classic climate control with a navigation on a Jaguar X-Type ? The navigation unit has only one connector ....
@@marcelsaracut8066 Take a look at this guy's website. It's one of the projects he details: www.xtype.uk/projects/3/retrofit-touchscreensatnav He then brings the system up to current functionality with the "JagDroid" system on another page.
Once you remove the radio from the panel, can you access the bulbs to replace them? One of the bulbs in my stereo does not light up so cannot see info like the time, etc
are you guys located in Orlando, Fl? Jaguar uses a ring shaped fiber optic network which connects radio, stereo, DVD, Navigation Sys, GPS, garage door opener and hands free phone. There's lot of info about this at jaguar forums.... Why did your client requested to replace the aftermarket for the OEM? if car had an aftermarket stereo the new OEM unit should not work properly unless you reinstal the fiber optic network as well.
Bought a used 2006 X-type. The radio only has a low volume. I hoped it was a blown amp fuse but replacing that didn't increase the volume. Any thought? Replace the Amp?
I have an 03 x.type. my digital climate control screen cracked. I have heated seats. Looking on eBay for a replacement part, is there anyway to install this without having the heated seat buttons attached? Since the ones I'm finding are without them, can I install it and wire it to the seat buttons?? Thanks
The problem could be one of a number of things. Poor solder at the display, or the power supply that drives the back light. Bad bulbs depending on the type of back light used...
i have a question i remove my car stereo using the instrucions in this video but the problem is after i did that my ac does not turn on now do you have any advice for me to fix the problem please let me know
This video is just great! However I am not going to try, because this is only the starting point. How do I then fix the CD player, will I be able to? Therefore, no more listening to CDs but only to the radio.
Hi, need a help pls. if i wanna change the exsisting radio and climate control as it shown here and replacing it with the Navi sat touch screen, would it be same plugs in the back ? thanks
Very helpful video I want to know if it’s possible change the language from japanese to English and it’s it’s possible to change the maps from japanese to my country’s ? The vehicle is jdm import
i'm thinking about buying a 2003 jaguar for a first car, how reliable r they? are they easy to fix? i'm not mechanically inclined. but i am an electrician so i could deal with wires quite easily
I don't recommend a Jaguar for a first car. They are beautiful cars but are expensive to fix almost anything on it. Jaguar parts are expensive because you typically have to buy them specifically from Jaguar dealers.
It's a grab bag in terms as to cost of ownership. As dannyboy mentioned, certain parts are only available at dealerships. However, in that same vein, other parts are fairly cheap as the powerplant and various other parts are actually made by Ford. I currently own a 03 and it's treated me nicely thus far. What really helps is doing your research on issues if they do arise. A $100 fix at the auto body can quickly become a $10 one with a little DIY bravado and simple willingness to give it a try.
For a first car it may appear extreme to some, but why mess about working towards one when you can have one today? The only thing getting in the way maybe the insurance, It's a fantastic and safe car to drive, especially the All Wheel Drive V6 model. Yes, things can go wrong, but that is cars all over. The X-Type shares many parts with the Euro Ford Mondeo so parts can be cheap in England at least. You can get spares on ebay for peanuts too. Solid car if kept up to date with fluids. Manual gearboxes on ebay can be found for 89 GBP. My x-type cost next to nothing, and it had satnav, voice command, phone and just so much to list, that no other car could compare with. best wishes and good luck finding your car :)
We had a 2.5 V6 manual for about 4 years and ~80000 miles. Generally reliable (issue with the brake lights coming on when using the clutch fixed by shimming the brake light switch, couple of rear suspension arms, issue with central locking not working which turned out to be a sticking flap on the ignition switch, 1 dead lambda probe). Drinks petrol on short journeys round town. Ours was starting to rust badly on the bottom of the A posts. Main killer of them is the 4wd transfer box, which loses a bit of oil but has the filler hole below the oil level. As a car to drive, not that much fun. Soggy slow steering and prone to understeer (although it handles beautifully in snow). And with the 2.5 an engine that needed to be revved hard to go well, but which didn't really work with the slow gear change and what feels like a very heavy flywheel (slow to rev or lose revs).
+Nikk CArroll - I've had my 03 x for 10 years and am about to sell today. Replaced with a 14 xf awd. My x was the best car I've ever owned, not much trouble over the years although last year I did plunk 3k for a transfer case (used), upper/lower intake gaskets, batt cables and fuel filter. The latter two seems easy but their location is the problem. A few hundred for those two alone. In any case, the awd is absolutely awesome. I have 150k miles now and it is still going strong.
Why did you leave the power on while removing it? I'd think you'd turn the ignition off and disconnect the battery. There's a lot of amperage in that battery.
Thanks so much. I used this method to retrieve the radio serial number as my Jag (08) previously had a new clutch fitted and radio was completely removed. I found it hard to find the pin code. Thanks for making this video. I just installed an FM modulator unit and it was most helpful!
thank you from Bordeaux, France.

Good question! They look very similar, don't know exactly until we see one in shop. Give it a try and let us know?
Thank you for this great video. Please post more videos if you work on the Jag X-Type
I do appreciate! And very nice camera work.
Thank, you for you're video.👍
Thanks for this, used it to change my x type stereo out and it was spot on.

Great. You make it looks easy. Thanks!!
Is that possible replaces all this on touchscreen? If yes, then what model of touchscreen fit to X-type 2005, 2.0 Diesel

Did you get to find out???
2004 jaguar x type.... can i plug in a aux wier in to factory radio ?
Bring it by the shop. There is no real standard for installing aftermarket stereo, we would have to see it.
so does this mean I can exchange the stereo for a higher quality receiver?
Once you remove the radio from the panel, can you access the bulbs to replace them? One of the bulbs in my stereo does not light up so cannot see info like the time, etc

is it possible to install an aftermarket headunit into a jaguar x-type 2002?
I cannot install a aftermarket head unit in my x type due to the fiber optic data bus and factory amp without running new speaker wires
You can easily fit an aftermarket radio, the fibre optic only causes a problem if you have a factory satnav.
Hi, need a help pls. if i wanna change the exsisting radio and climate control as it shown here and replacing it with the Navi sat touch screen, would it be same plugs in the back ? thanks
