28:10 If you look on the Shadesmar map of Roshar, the Nexus of Truth is near where Shinovar is. We know that the people of Ashyn came to Roshar and landed in Shinovar and lived there for a long time. To me, this sounds like it could mean that the Nexuses are also gateways to other planets.
It's cool to have you guys review my question here in this podcast. I was almost as surprised to see it pop up here as I was to have it actually answered during Brandon's livestream! It's cool to hear your thoughts on these WoB's.
About the Dawncities ... remember that we have been given strong hints that their layout is based on the Rhythms and Tones - the whole cymatics lecture from back in Way of Kings. I can absolutely see the Singers, given their name and such, being able to coordinate thousands of Surgebinders to create a perfect tone.
I love Grace's theory that Pattern was Tien's spren. Though Design also fits the bill. Either way both are great little theories! As always, fantastic podcasts. Editing also continues to get better so props to you, Eric!
I like the idea that singers forming a choir to make the dawncitys. Reason being there was that one scene where kabsal was showing that each city was related to a particular tone when you vibrate that wavelength through a metal dish with sand
@56:00 the "We killed you" question. I always thought that Odium implies here that Dalinar is on the way to becoming honor. Also, if someone "beneath" a shard would be teaming up with Odium he would not say "we". From that I assume that Odium is working with another shard (I am not so deep into cosmere stuff, but I think you guys mentioned of the possibilty of OdiumxAutonomy?).
28:00 I think Brandon has said that in Mistborn secrect history when Kelsier tried walking away from Scadrial until he couldn’t go any further-that Kel was near the edge of the Solar system. So makes sense for spren & fused & Shards who are invested in a planet can hop between nearby planets. Also explains how the fuse can leave Bryse. But I do wonder why Gavilar was talking to Kalak & Nail about finally being able to move to Bryse if realistically they’re the same? Maybe this is the case of one of those exceptions we don’t understand?
Interesting... If that is the case then 3 new Fused could be born to keep the number. I could see Vyre but I don't know of any Singers I could think of.
56:07 "we killed you" since dalanar ins touched by 3 shards in this moment? it is this moment rigt? could Rayse somehow be confused and belive it is andonalsium at first?
There would be no need for daylight savings on Roshar since the planet doesn't have any axial tilt. It's the reason the planet doesn't have real seasons. Even if there was change to the timekeeping system, I don't think it would effect Cusicesh since time is just how we show the angle of the sun overhead. Changing the timekeeping system doesn't change the rotation of the planet.
Possibly interesting thought... If you travel horizontally in shadesmar to travel around the planet or to other planets... And shadesmar tends to reflect the world its associated with (ex. scadrial is misty) does this mean as a planet developes and becomes more aware of its location in space and begins an era of space travel. Will that make shadesmar on that location more 3 dimensional? As in you have to actually fly in shadesmar to arrive at scadrial shadesmar in era 4?
I wanna ask Brandon "what would happen from a technical, investiture standpoint, if Rysn were to ride a full grown Chirri-Chirri into battle wielding nightblood?" That would just be an investiture nightmare.
I have a feeling that Singer Radiants who are heavily connected to various aspects may see effects similar to how Mistborn with hemalurgic spikes have heightened control over the respective allomantic ability. We already see Rlain using his singing to help plants grow early in the novel (iirc) so perhaps he will be able to use Progression better than othr truthwatchers/enlightened truthwatchers...
They did 3 hours of Ba Ado Mishram 3 weeks ago, and yes dead eyes are totally due to the binding of Ba Ado Mishram. ua-cam.com/video/GoDBk1XxN8g/v-deo.html
To the question of the creation of the dawn cities. I think he's saying that Radiants aren't powerful enough, because of the checks on their power, but it can be done if those checks are not in place.
@@carl11547 Maybe you missed some WoBs, but the word Surgebinding simply means "using investiture/invested arts to manipulate the physical world", or "magically wielding the fundamental forces of the universe", which are known as Surges to Rosharans. By their terminology, Allomancers are Surgebinders. Awakeners are Surgebinders. Sand masters are Surgebinders. Elantrians are Surgebinders... you get the idea. There is no indication that the Surgebindings available on pre-exodus Ashyn are the same Surgebindings that are currently available to Knights Radiant now. You can't use magical feats from quite possibly an entirely different magic system, to compare power levels with modern day KR.
The one frustrating thing about the livestreams is that Adam sometimes paraphrases questions in ways that obscure the questioners' capital-I Intention.
I see the dawnshard as an adverb/adjective to the noun or verb of the shard. They are catalysts to enhance the power. A man can be just a man or he can be handsome, muscular, skinny etc.
I want to know, in theory, can you stab a Hemalurgic spike into a spren and then into a person, can you get the benifits of a bond? I also want to know if a connection between stormlight and anti stormlight like there is with the opposite metals in mist born. Can a wind runner use anti stormlight to push away all of the arrows instead of draw them into a sheild? A jedi Kalodin would be kinda fantastic.
Wait so does the fact that any Investiture type can be charged with another mean Elantrians can use Aon-Dor away from where the Dor is concentrated if they had Stormlight or maybe some kind of Metalmind?
Re: The Thrill. I like the idea that it really isn't in the ocean. If this isn't true, then we already know of a group of beings who seem to be perfectly fine underwater and are really good (debatably) at keeping secrets. So if it was done innocently, I imagine it possible that the Sleepless knew and performed some recon.
It's pretty obvious that Dalinar will, at some point, hold all 3 Rosharan Shards, right? He has Connections to all 3. He has plenty of experience with hate and destruction. He has grown substantially, and he is quite honorable. It's kind of like Sazed. He was the obvious choice for becoming Harmony, but we were misdirected up until the moment when it finally happened.
It’s weird that people can worldhop with loads of breath. Even Vasher and Nightblood. You’d think they’d be bound to their system? And why don’t the Ghostbloods use breath for currency? It already is on Nalthas? I know they want an ethical currency tho
Endowment seemingly created Breath on purpose to not depend on Identity as much as, say, Selish magics--that's why one person can accept and use another's Breath. Breath is just very limited in what you can get--one torn-off fragment of someone's soul per person. Stormlight seems to be unlimited. (Emphasis on "seem".)
Wait ✋. If the spren becomes the fabrial METAL could the flying ships just be a single spren? Is the trade off of convincing a spren to manifest mean a large fabrial would be more efficient in terms of spren count?
Question: when a deadeye is summoned as a shardblade, is it still visible in the Cognitive Realm? Why would spren stick around in Shadesmar when manifesting as a fabrial, but not when manifesting as a shardblade? Are these two different things entirely? Or am I missing something obvious?
Is it possible that the secret isn't that humans aren't native to roshar, but that their radiant bonds are allowing odium to reach out? That's what nale thought. That explains how the recreance could have continued, even if folks knew deadeyes were bad. If you had to break the bond to stop odium then folks would still do it even knowing what happens.
On the Ba-Ado-Mishram etymology, I suddenly had an idea: what if Ba-Ado-Mishram IS the sibling? Or maybe a corrupted version of the sibling? It might be a reason we haven't heard the sibling's name yet...

What if the Thrill is not in the bottom of the physical sea but the sea of beads in Shadesmar ?
I love this idea

Plus they should call the Star of the Roshar system as Rostar!!

Same!
Well, I did kill her with Nightblood in the Five Scholars episode, so that checks out. -Eric
@@17thShard oh my god... X'D It was foreshadowed all along!!!!
Dalinar being connected to all three shards means that he is going to become a triple shard by book 10, obviously.

Do you guys think BaAdo Mishram (spelling) being imprisoned had something to do with the creation of deadeye spren?
i think it's implied in RoW, at least i would tend to agree that it has something to do
They have several podcasts about that exact topic actually. That's pretty commonly accepted as what happened
It's a popular theory right now, Kalak more or less says that in RoW
They did 3 hours of Ba Ado Mishram 3 weeks ago, and yes dead eyes are totally due to the binding of Ba Ado Mishram.

I think the dawnshards would be ado's tools. So the 16 shards were the intent and the dawnshsrds were his tools exact that
To the question of the creation of the dawn cities. I think he's saying that Radiants aren't powerful enough, because of the checks on their power, but it can be done if those checks are not in place.
It's clear that pre-Radiant Surgebinders were more, not less, powerful than the Radiants. I'm not sure why the Sharders don't see it that way.
Carl, I absolutely think you are overstating things by thinking "it's clear". It is not, in my opinion. -Eric
@@17thShard Clear to me, anyway. Note: pre-Radiant Surgebinders *destroyed Ashyn*.

I would argue it's more accurate to say they could "hack" Elantrian magic to use Stormlight INSTEAD of the Dor.
The White Sand can also leave Taldain. Apparently anything physical can leave.
Aviar, Taldain sand, feruchemists, the Returned. The Returned are Cognitive Shadows, for that matter, but at least five have visited Roshar.
@@carl11547 Also, if we read Secret History closely, the Cognitive Shadows of Threnody also could at that time leave.
Did Hoid acquire a second Dawnshard at some time?
So is the cage still of the same design, if a spren has turned into a fabrial?
