That shifter does nothing the original could not. But it's stiff ugly and detracts from the interior
The stock Mopar 4 speed shifter was not nearly as positive as the Hurst vertical gate shifter. Especially when you were REALLY banging gears.

That clicking is a Mechanical tachometer from the mid 1960's. It is the sound they make when they are working.
