Yeah Dave's a class act. This is such a shame when I heard about this tour I was so happy. I just hope Perry can get it together.I love Jane's Addiction ❤
Jane's has been a fossil since the early 90s. Ever since then all they've played is songs from Ritual and Nothing's. Songs written in the 80s. They stopped creating. I know they've put out a few albums after Ritual but they don't play them. Jane's is running on fumes and Perry is the Joe Biden of rock.
Perry's just too old to do this anymore. Everyone reaches that point eventually. He had a great run. Nothing's and Ritual are two of the best albums of the 80's and 90's. Being 64 and doing this, is a rock and a hard place.

I think that's what he was trying to do. In my opinion, even though Perry didn't sound that good, Dave should have let it roll.
@@timallen7813 Things just run their course. Perry was never quite on. He was frequently off time, off pitch, forgetting his place in songs, not able to hit high notes. Being a vocalist at that age trying to do stuff when you're 30 is damn near impossible. Being a drummer in older age is also extremely difficult. Jane's did something in their youth that few have ever been able to do. That can't be taken away from them by mortals.
Not true! Saw Jane's Addiction at the Hollywood Bowl when they opened for Smashing Pumpkins. His vocals were on point and he was singing the actual words to the songs, as the audience sang-along. He laughed and made jokes and engaged the audience. That's how I'll choose to remember them. Not THIS!
Sounds to me like Stephen and Eric honed in on it too, thankfully. You see Dave look at Stephen. There was an exchange. They knew. They've all played together long enough, especially that song,to know how it goes.
When you have practiced a solo for 100 hours and the singer is so spaced out in his own glory that he is not giving space. I know how it feels. Artists are generally thinking that people are their for listening to you. That's how bands break up. Ego.
That’s because it was supposed to be Dave’s solo so the soundman turned Perry’s mic down. You can’t have open mics on stage when they’re not being used.
@@RH-xs8gz Are you saying that every time there's a solo, the audio technician cuts the mic or turns it down? I don't think that's accurate. Especially for spontaneous bands like JA, the mic has to be open at all times because the singer has to have the option to sing, shout, interact with the audience or whatever, whenever he wants to and there's no way to know exactly when that will be. It could be during a solo. There are many examples of this with many different bands.
@@Randy-jz9ox As I said, there are many examples of this with many bands. I'm talking about "yeah!", or "let's go!", or something like that. Sometimes, yes, they sing some improvised melody. Bands like RHCP, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Jane's Addiction, Incubus, Mars Volta etc do that all the time live.
I did as well at the Moore Theater in Seattle and once again at the very last date of the 91 lollapalooza tour at King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw. I’ve always held Perry as the gold standard of not being able to sing it worked with the music for a minute but in truth he sounds like a cat with its tail slammed in a door.
I saw them in 2012 and he was great. He sang better than the album version in some songs. It seems like whenever he was in shape he was great, but I'm guessing that's probably not a frequent thing.
This is sad especially considering prior to this recent tour, Eric Avery and Navarro spoke of how they are closer than ever, Perry had apologized for things of the past. They felt like a real band in love w the music and each other. NOW THIS?????? SMH
Perry was coming down the mountain with an Oceansize ego, he took a swing but he can't hit, Dave said Stop! and Eric Avery triple punched Perry in the ribs, Just Because..
I owned 3 James Addiction bootlegs and Perry Farrell sounded like garbage on every one. Why anyone is surprised that he continues to sound like garbage live is beyond me. You couldn’t pay me to go to one of their shows. Thank god for their fantastic studio work tho.
So your vocals were wrong and low and your guitarist pointed it out to you so you didn’t continue and he carried on with his job of playing his guitar well and you got angry for that ????? I hope Perry is not relapsing or suffering some type of psychosis from his days of drug use ???
I heard that the issue Perry has is that the stage volume is too loud and for whatever reason, it causes him to lose track of where he is in the song. I dunno about all that, I'm not a professional singer. But what I noticed in this vid, and from when I saw them live is that Perry's vocals are WAY muted. I thought it was a bad soundcheck when I saw it, but it's apparently a thing. Lots goin on that we (as viewers/listeners) don't understand. Need it spoken by either of them what the issue is.
Yes, and no. On stage they are hearing their amp behind them and a little bit of whoever they want in there mix at what levels. So the monitor guy on side of stage controls that, but the volume of the guitar on stage is controlled by the musician. Sometimes you get one guy turn his amp up, and now the other guy can’t hear himself and he turns his up, this usually ends up with everyone on stage to loud and making for a hard time hearing on stage. This is one of the reasons musicians are getting away from larger speakers cabinets on stage.
Guitars during sound check are often volume pot set at 6 or 7, then during start of performance they are sneakily rolled up to 10... If you are singing on stage then the guitars can drown you out to the point on stage you can't even hear well enough as a singer to be able to know where you are in a song as it's just a racket on stage of guitar noise... Imagine being a singer struggling with that on stage 👍
Seems to me that Navarro cranking up the volume drowning out Perry’s voice. Especially when it is known Perry’s vocals are struggling… not cool… Although drinking alcohol will escalate just about anything…
Anyone who’s ever been anywhere near a paranoid addict recognizes the look Perry gave Dave. He’s glaring at him, gripping the mic like a child. Jane’s Addiction made Perry Farrell. Perry’s addiction killed the band.
Perry’s wife mentioned something about Perry’s tinnitus, and the fact that he had been aggravated lately, personally speaking from experience as someone with severe tinnitus, this shit is horrible.Sometimes it can really effect your focus, hopefully,Perry and Dave can work out everything.Good luck guys.
Dave had it right but Perry’s not the first lead singer to screw up either. They should just make up before they break up. Perry should also cool it with the booze. A bad night that’s all. The show must go on💯
Trouble is there aren't many young guys doing it like in the 80s. It's all boomers and gen x at the shows. Rock today is what big band was to our grandparents. That's our fate
I noticed that “watch how it’s done” moment from Navarro in another clip but couldn’t see Perry’s immediate reaction until now. Yeah, after everything else going on, that probably lit the fuse.
Perry was lost and singing the wrong part of the song. Dave went up to tell him that he was going to start his guitar solo. If he didn't, Perry would have completely messed up the song. Dave knew exactly what to do.

Being a vocalist at that age trying to do stuff when you're 30 is damn near impossible. Being a drummer in older age is also extremely difficult. Jane's did something in their youth that few have ever been able to do. That can't be taken away from them by mortals.
Starting off a concert with a bottle of wine beforehand, among other things is a recipe for disaster
He's done that at pretty much every concert he's ever performed in his career.
@MC-ht6lw Oh damn, didn't know that...well,in that case age has caught up to Perry
Not true! Saw Jane's Addiction at the Hollywood Bowl when they opened for Smashing Pumpkins. His vocals were on point and he was singing the actual words to the songs, as the audience sang-along. He laughed and made jokes and engaged the audience. That's how I'll choose to remember them. Not THIS!
Yeah even Motley Crue knows it's got to be whiskey. Duh 😂😂😂😂
Perry polished a bottle at the Warfield Theatre SF when opening a show there 12 yrs ago, it was damn hot, should have gone for a Mojito instead.
Remember kids … brain cells are important
Missed his vocal cue AND sand like a whole step flat when he did come in
Regardless of what was played or how they sounded, something like this ruins the whole show in my opinion whomever is playing.
He kinda saved the song, and I think Perry took it wrong. That’s what band members should do, have your back so you don’t look crazy.
Sounds to me like Stephen and Eric honed in on it too, thankfully. You see Dave look at Stephen. There was an exchange. They knew. They've all played together long enough, especially that song,to know how it goes.
Its not Dave,s fault perry sounds shit😎
When you have practiced a solo for 100 hours and the singer is so spaced out in his own glory that he is not giving space. I know how it feels. Artists are generally thinking that people are their for listening to you. That's how bands break up. Ego.
We'd be able to see both of them at the same time if vertical video hadn't destroyed America
Thank you for speaking out on this. I agree 💯 that portrait orientation is being overused!
😂😂😂
@@WKFS Because the dang iPhones have let everyone shoot pictures but not become "PHOTOGRAPHERS"!
Regardless of their incident, this sounds awesome. What song is this?
Dave fucking rips!!!!! Such a great player! Perry seemed frustrated his mic was really low.
Probably low because he’s an absolute train wreck these days
@sombra1111 they may not have cut the mic but singers don't sing while the guitar lead is being played. That would be redundant.
This: "Video showing what caused Perry Farrell to attack Dave Navaro"
Me: Expected to see a video of heroin.
For real
Yeah, the reason is that dude was really really cooked high on whatever amount of drugs. It's sad. Respect for Dave and the rest of the band.
All 110lbs of courage acting like a tough guy.
Dave, who's a tiny guy as well handled it with class and compassion.
What an embarrassing moment.
Perry looks old and confused, and high, and has turned into a laughing stock. Give it up already
At the San Diego show Perry forgot the lyrics to four songs.
I've been watching them for years.
With them, nothing's shocking.
Dude never could sing... I saw them touring their first album.
he was always the caveat.
@@rons4625 Yep I saw the show here in So Cal that year. amazing line up that year.
That's a matter of taste. I saw them 3 times in 91 and it was great. Sure Perry wasn't always in key but it still rocked. This is just sad.
I saw them in 2012 and he was great. He sang better than the album version in some songs. It seems like whenever he was in shape he was great, but I'm guessing that's probably not a frequent thing.
"Damn it Dave, I suck and IT'S YOUR FAULT" !!
Pretty much
You can tell perry is very damaged. He’s way off key and done so much stimulants that his nervous system is ruined
Ok Dr. Oz.
Oh that is horse 💩
No shit people want to act like they personally know him or some shit it’s hilarious
@@robertchandelier-nm3jtcry harder dork
You have no idea as to what you are saying🤣🤣🤣
Dave being an absolute professional. Those that have been around a while already know Perry’s deal.
You would think- he’d use in ear monitors so he could hear himself? 🤷♂️
He is using them. They are skin tone. Actually everyone except Dave are using them
Would you want to hear yourself if you sounded like him?
This is sad especially considering prior to this recent tour, Eric Avery and Navarro spoke of how they are closer than ever, Perry had apologized for things of the past. They felt like a real band in love w the music and each other. NOW THIS?????? SMH
Perry was upset Dave’s solo couldn’t match Corey Feldmans
I love how this is world wide news!
Perry’s Addiction
Perry was coming down the mountain with an Oceansize ego, he took a swing but he can't hit, Dave said Stop! and Eric Avery triple punched Perry in the ribs, Just Because..
Perry, please do not become another Vince Neil
Not a Vince Neil...he will be another Scott Wieland...DEAD!!
Oh god no!!!
Too late, he sounds horrible. They should honestly cancel the rest of the tour.
@@Slammediadotca this will be end of band again! What a loser to ruin getting members back together and touring again!
He and Vince can bump bellies and guzzle a few boxes of wine
I owned 3 James Addiction bootlegs and Perry Farrell sounded like garbage on every one. Why anyone is surprised that he continues to sound like garbage live is beyond me. You couldn’t pay me to go to one of their shows. Thank god for their fantastic studio work tho.
So your vocals were wrong and low and your guitarist pointed it out to you so you didn’t continue and he carried on with his job of playing his guitar well and you got angry for that ????? I hope Perry is not relapsing or suffering some type of psychosis from his days of drug use ???
Was at the Boston show/ 3/4 of the band sounded good - any guesses as to who didn't? Guessing you all can.
Love and Rockets sounded great.
Imagine being 65 and still being a fucking child, Perry needs fucking help. I don't blame Dave if he ups and leaves.
Perry has always been a joke. Even back in the day. Dave has always carried this band!
If the guitars were too loud wouldn’t that be the fault of the mixing board engineer?
The way perry looks at him when he realized he was way off.. 😭😭😂😂 bit sad
Perrys wife...perry's wife says...who cares ? Is she the yoko Ono of the group?
Perry's slow head turn is hilarious 😂 he's like "what now?"
I have to say, I could hear the vocals 🎤!
Then his beef is with the sound engineering team, not Dave.
Dave sounds great and Perry doesn't have it anymore.
Tinnitus is a mother...
Peace!!! And stay together!!
Kids Don’t Do Drugs Or Alcohol!!!
The band should get paid extra on this tour for playing the music but also babysitting
I knew it had nothing to do with the stage sound...
I'm so glad I was at a way better concert in Boston that night...
Tatted-up Abe Lincoln plays a mean guitar.
Not funny, the guy is a legend.
Thats is funny ..and with no disrespect to Dave .. fck he would probably think its funny too, he's pretty grounded
Inked Amish?
Dave had it right but Perry’s not the first lead singer to screw up either. They should just make up before they break up. Perry should also cool it with the booze. A bad night that’s all. The show must go on💯
Drugs are a helluva drug
Dave was keeping Perry on track.
Old guys and rock’n’roll don’t always go so well together
Trouble is there aren't many young guys doing it like in the 80s. It's all boomers and gen x at the shows.
Rock today is what big band was to our grandparents. That's our fate
did these guys practice much together before the tour?
I noticed that “watch how it’s done” moment from Navarro in another clip but couldn’t see Perry’s immediate reaction until now. Yeah, after everything else going on, that probably lit the fuse.
The funniest thing for me is, I have no idea who these people are.
It seams Perry was out of time and Dave told him that
Lost in the song
Seams? You mean seems. *.
Time to start a new band, Jane's Rehab.
