  • In this video we paint and apply decals to Academy's 1/35 scale Tiger I, Early Production model kit.
The Tiger I, also known as the Panzer VI, was probably the most feared tank of WWII if not of all time. Every modeler of WWII tanks no doubt has an example in their collection.
This is kit #13264 and is a 2013 Rebox of the original release of 1990.
I hope you enjoy the video! Model on!!

Thanks Jeff, it actually came together faster than I expected. A lot of the time I struggle with painting part of the build. Stay safe and see you next time! Model on. Johnny

Ah, it's really taking shape. The scratch build is very convincing. Very nice.

You did a great job with a kit that’s well dodgy in parts, plus the parts you scratch built yourself..I have a few of these Academy Tigers and some have link tracks, some don’t.?.I built the Tamiya early Tiger last year(there is a video of it on my little channel on her)..I enjoyed every bit of building the Tamiya early Tiger and it fell together..I only added some p/e latches and clips around the exhaust from the Eduard set..Painted her panzer grey with a heavy worn white wash, etc and was very happy with her.
You did a great job with this academy beast and thank you for showing us how to tame this Tiger.!
Thank you again..Keep up the wonderful work and all the best from the U.K🇬🇧🇺🇸👍

Your too kind, thanks so much! Tigers are such great subjects to model. Tamiya does such a great job with their kits. From an engineering standpoint, I don't think anyone else has achieved the quality and consistency that Tamiya has. I need to get a Tamiya Tiger and build it with all the bells and whistles, LOL. Thanks so much for watching, take care and model on. Johnny

Hey Johnny! So panzer grey was your choice, i love that colour (even if i don't use it a lot). Takes weathering so nice! Excellent trick for wood grain effects. Paint and decals stage is finished sucessfully, should be a breeze to weather this cat. Feifel filters duct scratch builded holders blew my mind, you pulled a really difficult assembly like a boss there!! Looking forward for it, Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.

Thanks George, I really appreciate the very kind words my friend. After looking at some pictures, I discovered that those clamps were missing, and they seemed easy enough to scratch build, so I made them. It's amazing how something like this can add so much to the overall result. Thanks for watching, stay safe and mode on my friend. Johnny

Operated a dozer for 40 years, something to note, rust only accumulates on parked machines, especially the tracks. Anything metal will polish up like a mirror when being used, anyway, great job.

Hi Hillbilly, I'm really inspired by the muffler clamps. That's a great detail. Progress is looking good so far.

Thanks Mikey V👍You know me, always looking for an opportunity to do a little scratch building! lol. Lots of these little details that the manufactures' often times leave out are easy to make with just a little time and effort and can pay off big in the finished build. Johnny
