    When.i built the 75mm version of this kit, I re did all the welding on that kit, because it's wrong. Great work!

      Thanks Rick, I'm looking into different ways to produce nice weld beads. Got a lot of experimenting and learning to do in that area. Stay safe my friend.

    ...watched a few of your US builds last night - really like the tone of the Vallejo 'Parched Grass', so ordered a 60ml bottle today (and some 'Aged White' to lighten it) - Seems to be the 'perfect' WWII OD to my eye.
    Cheers from NZ.

      Hi Ian, I too like the parched grass as you can tell. I agree with you, it gives a better look as a weathered and slightly faded OD. Perfect for a well-used US vehicle. Take care and model on my friend. Johnny

    Only seen that Vallejo 'Parched Grass' used before on your M6 GMC - it's perfect for the 'brown' version of OD. Going to grab some of that next time I do a paint order.

    • @hillbillymodeling

      It is a unique shade of OD, and it behaves well when airbrushed. Thanks for watching Ian, stay safe and model on my friend!

    Just finished Tamiya's M4A3 Sherman tank for a client . Really enjoyed your video and the techniques you use. I used Tamiya acrylics for main painting via my trusty Iwata airbrush and weathering was done using oils , enamel washes and AK weathering pencils which I personally find are better on green or panzer grau AFV's . Lookforward to your next project and wonderful work thank you.

      Great to hear Jurgen 67, Tamiya's are fine kits. Their fit are second to none in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed the video, model on my friend!

    I'm watching the paint work in advance of painting mine and my question is Why Vallejo Paint instead of Tamiya being a Tamiya kit, also what was the ratio with the primer and thinner you used regards.

    • @hillbillymodeling
      @hillbillymodeling  8 місяців тому

      Hi Allen, great question. You don't need to use any specific brand of paint on your kits, just use what you prefer. Tamiya gives specific color codes for their paint with their kits, as do most other manufactures. This makes it easy to choose your paints/colors especially for those new to the hobby. I like Vallejo water-based paints for the low odor and easy clean-up, and they give a really nice finish. The Tamiya XF series of paint are solvent based and will cause paint to clot if you mix them with a water based thinner. As you would expect, a solvent based paint has a much stronger smell than the water-based paints, so it's just a matter of preference. When adding thinner to any paint for spraying I add just enough thinner to give the consistency of 2% milk. This works as a good starting point no matter what type of paint you use, solvent or water based. You may have to adjust this depending on the size of your airbrush nozzle, mine is a 0.35 mm, and the air pressure you are using. Hopes this helps, take care, good luck with your build! Johnny
