Ok, Jack, to escape the loop of the island, you have to play through the game another time, and when you reach the bunker, there is a radio broadcast thingy, and I think you tell yourself not to go to the island or something, then play through it AGAIN, and some things are different, so I say if you are to do this, play through the game another time and just show the bunker thing, and then do another play through of this game with the different things, then after THAT, you start another game, you get the signal, and you never go to the island. So in short you have to play through two more times for the BEST ending. Please like so Jack sees it!

Also, the island loop ending where Alex is stuck is the normal ending, and it always happens unless you play through it multiple times

jacksepticeye if you had collected the letters by the old woman and had learned the backstory in the letters, it would have added a new layer to the game. Plus you get other options with the ghosts at the end! Really enjoyed watching you do this! I played it once yesterday and am going back to it. I want to play the mean version and the silent Alex one too. Yesterday I played my intuitive version and ended up with Michael, M+C dating, R+N a couple and Jonas not being Alex‘s step brother. Next time I’ll let Michael go and have Jonas as a step brother. And I want to play the version where I get out of the loop...

It made me so conflicted when I saved Michael and all the photos I took with Jonas were replaced with Mike and we never bonded with Jonas- like I LOVE JONAS. He’s my bro. (if you don’t say anything during the game and someone starts something with Alex he’ll kinda stand up/ speak for her and idk I interpreted it as a positive thing)

This one line sent my mind on a spiral of possibilities. I'm starting to wonder if you don't actually play as Alex. What if you play as the ghosts? Deciding what she says to the others, controlling her actions, etc. Perhaps she was possessed from the beginning and we've been the 'ghosts' the whole time. Spoooooky.
Super late, but at her end monologue, before it loops back, her name is green, like the ghosts, so that's entirely possible.

Clarissa- sacrificed.
Nona- hated me after the trip for leaving clarissa behind.
Jonas- bonded with new step brother.
Ren- moved away after trip.
NO Michael.
Alex- moved away, sort of.
Overall it was a terrible ending.
ive gotten a good ending before on my second try and i think it was because i left with jonas instead and left nona and ren to bond in the tower thing, so jonas and alex bonded, and nona and ren kind of get into a relationship and no one moves away, and in that same ending i ALSO brought clarissa back so i got very lucky
I think this game did a good job of making you feel like "it's more than just a game". The final twist where everything is actually looping over and over was actually pretty well done. It leaves you with the feeling that there's somehow an infinite universe and you only saw a tiny part of it.

It’s kinda funny cause even the void said it before Jack left. “Remember you’re friends as they were. Because they will never be the same again.” And they weren’t. They were not the same. It kinda reminds me of Corpse party in a way because in those games when you died in the school you where forgotten from the real world and no one else remembered them other than the people who went with you, so they will be your friend forever. Kinda the same here: Only Alex remembers Clarissa and how life was before. So only she gets to commit it to memory, therefore making her the sol rememberer and nothing from that life before will ever be taken from her or changed.
*SPOILERS*
So, from what I understand, you'd have to sacrifice yourself in order to get a 'good' ending, because that's the only way to close the hole, thereby cutting the ghosts off from this reality/timeline/whatever. Because Jack accepted the deal, letting them have Clarissa and keep the hole open, the ghosts were able to loop everything back again, giving themselves the chance to try again.
Darcie Rose actually, it loops even if you sacrifice yourself. You have to play it like 3 times over to get the best ending where you decide not to go to the island, you can look up how on UA-cam

Rorschach Introvert I got it on my 2nd play, you have to find some letters, those will be topics to convince the ghosts, and in the second playtrough I didn't let Jonas hear the tape and recorded a message for myself. (got everyone alive except for Michael (I thought that maybe that won't give me a chance to fix things), and bonding with Jonas and Ren and nona dating)
Damn, this comment just made me realise that i got the best ending in my first playthrough without looking it up... now im way happier about it :D

oh my god so when clarissa was saying how michael drowning was all alex’s fault, it was actually clarissas fault. he would’ve never gone to the lake if he wasn’t planning on running away with her. and now at the end that he didn’t, he never drowned, alex’s parents never divorced, and jonas never became alex’s step brother. this game is insane

It felt like something was missing (obviously Clarissa). Which I’m sure the developers did entirely on purpose... it’s there to give you the “she should be here” feeling.

The movie would be completely boring, and so many scenes would be pointless. Why would anyone want to see alex go with her brother to a broken house and watch clarissa fall to her death so that nothing could change?

The endings are slightly different, but aren't extremely different. You get more story from the elements around you (which you did miss a few of) than the actual endings, but they are interesting still. This game kind of leaves you with a lot of insight and ideas to ponder upon. It's great and I'm glad you played it and seemed to enjoy it.
Also, I'm pretty sure on my play through it just gave me a random person on steam's answers rather than preset default ones and I haven't bothered befriending anyone on steam because I only really play 1 player games.

That's exactly what I was thinking while watching this. The only difference is that it would have been like Chloe making the final decision (which she kinda did cause she told Max to kill her).
+Madzilla 13 the turtle there's still the option to not kill her though but I get what you mean, she did have an influence on it unlike Clarissa who could not be there to convince Alex at all, unless the ghosts count as convincing. No, the name only turns green when the character isn’t present on screen, so a speech bubble can’t be put down, in episode 3, during the Game in the house with Clarissa, as soon as you get out of it, Nona’s name is Green. And when you’re talking to Ren and Nona through the speaker, their names are green.
I thought that the Alex in the mirror was another steam player, telling the answers to you and then when it said your steam name you were advicing the next one that plays the game

Okay so here's my theory:
**THERE ARE GOING TO BE SPOILERS**
I've been watching the alternate endings to this game and there IS a way you can save everyone including Micheal. So I think that the world Alex and her friends are living in is a continuous loop cycle where every year they come back to Edwards Island and encounter the ghosts but then forget the ghost encounter when the loop restarts. Each time the loop ends, something different happens. Some people may survive, some may not. I saw this other video showing a secret ending, where there is a possibility you can get even more gameplay. I believe the way to obtain the secret ending is by finding all the anomalies.
**IN CASE YOU DON'T WANT THE SECRET ENDING SPOILED I SUGGEST YOU STOP READING**

It features Alex, Ren, and Jonas by a convenient store where they are waiting for Ren's sister, Allison to come so they can go to Edwards island. They are running late so Ren suggests that Alex takes out the radio and if music plays, they leave without her. Music does play but at the end Alex receives a message saying to not go to Edwards Island. They decide not to go and to get pizza instead. I think that their choice of them not going on the ferry to the Island cause them to break the loop and return to the normal timeline.
But that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY.

Leave isn't possible. Pizza Alex doesn't go to the island because another Alex from a different "dimension" warned her not to. Pizza Alex is saved, but dimension alex is still stuck in the loop. She isn't 100% free, making leave not possible

So it's a Legion Phenomenon. The large number of people dying the same way at the same time Sharing the same sorrow that turns to hate for and envy of the living they became one entity whose whole of they're malice created a tear in time that drags people that mess with it into they're Death Echo. Good story that was creative.
There's just something off about the endings of this game. To me it seems like nothing ends up being fulfilling enough.

Agree. Even though you get the best ending (with the parking lot scene) the original Alex still trapped in a loop, Michael is still dead, Clarissa still hates you, Ren and Nona didn't get together. Basically, everything remains the same except you never go to the island

If you play the game again, it'll remember you already played it. A lot of it will be different. The ghosts remember you and you remember some things that happened as well. You can only get a perfect ending if you play it again. I did.

This reminds me of the most extremely weird dream I had where I relived a week of my childhood when I was 5 or 6 years old and it was almost like a case of time travel where I kept trying to change a bad event that happened but barely impacted it, delayed it or did nothing. It was a terrifying nightmare almost considering I lived every day of the week and every second passed and even slept through each night as if It was real life and every time I went to sleep I'd hope I would wake out of it. It was by far the weirdest dream I had and after seeing this game it reminds me of the dream.
So sad to see this game end!! Loved this series!!

Clarissa speaking on the end cutscene, was that her name was green, instead of her usual red name.
I think Clarissa kinda forgave them because they got Mike back, but when Alex left her she just died and turned into a ghost herself. But instead of hurting them, she decided to kinda just watch over them and oversee their lives. Kinda how she said "nice analogy" in the end but no one heard it, like she was watching over them and just commented that to herself. She didn't seem mad or hurt or angry. Kinda seemed at peace if anything. She might've even taken the group picture.

Alice Hatter Somewhat. Her existence was part of the catalyst for his death. Because he ended his relationship with her, he didn't leave with her therefore there was no need for him to take Alex to the beach with Clarissa on a "goodbye" thing. Thus, he didn't drown. But in a way, if Alex didn't want him to take her out, he also wouldn't have died. So they both indirectly caused his death.

Yeah if you didn't understand, Michael drowned on a small trip he took Alex on... that trip happened as a "goodbye" for Alex, because Michael was leaving with Clarissa... since Clarissa wasn't a thing, there was no goodbye trip, meaning he didn't drown on that trip.
That doesn't mean Clarissa is to blame, she was just part of his life, nothing in that relationship indicated a death at it's end... it's no one's fault.
The reason things changed is because of the butterfly effect, you go back in time and kill one butterfly to go back to a whole different world.
Also I think it's important to mention that this is just a type of time theory that this game clearly stands on... other theories say that fate will always set things on the same path, for example, Michael dies in another way on the same date at the same time... other time theories say that you can't actually change anything! because changing it will make you forget that you need to change it hence you never attempting to change it... that's the time paradox usually time travel stories hit, that's why there has to be some smoothing of corners and swiping under the rug kind of points in the story, cause their chronicle order sometimes don't make sense... some stories fix this paradox by pulling one character outside the timeline, meaning that the "time changing" action was taken in a way that isn't effected by the changes of the world, it is set in stone, time stone if you will, and everything else is bent to that... time stories get really complicated dude >.< I'm going to stop, I'm not supposed to be smart.

I don't think the loop stops... Every ending seems to be looping back again and again.
You need to play OXENFREE again. There are some things that changed and it's awesome ;)
DanSkyy he won't. But what changes? One thing I'm guessing is that Alex remembers some stuff and the radio anomalies are remembered. It WOULD be cool if the playthroughs altered with the ending you get, but that'd be hell programming needing real AAA development.
You can get Jonas and Nona together, and you can also escape the loop completely.

About the "Uncharted effect", I had this idea.. desiging to assign a key to make your character go "Shh", raising their hand and listening until you release the button, then going "..thought I heard something" to just pause a conversation of the NPCs, who would then carry on after a shrug. That could be a nice YT-commentary-functionality in these games. Like a push to talk button, but for moderating NPC talks.

I think at the end, Alex sort of turns into Clarissa. Like, she's nice but then, you sort of hear Clarissa's voice instead of Alex's. Also, in the memories, Clarissa wasn't a bitch, like Alex was not in your play-through. However, during the game, Clarissa was rude as fuck and at the end of the story, Alex started being rude when talking about Jonas. I think that in the loop, Jonas's character kind of turns into Alex's old character and Alex's character kind of turned into Clarissa's old character.
Not physically of course, but ya know, sorry for ranting. It's just a theory.
By the way, after rereading that I realize that that was probably confusing af sorry

I thought Clarissa was a nice person after I found out she was just brooding over the loss of Michael. They seemed really happy together.

Kind of sad you sacrificed her.
I don't feel bad for her, honestly...Not that much. Like, yeah, she was nice before Michael died, but the fact that she reacted the way she did makes me less inclined to feel bad for her. Whether she was hurting over losing him or not, the way she chose to treat Alex over it wasn't okay. Blaming her for his death, twisting the situation (saying she "made" Michael take her swimming and that she didn't try to save him and could only "flap her arms in the water" when in reality Alex was only just barely learning _how_ to swim and couldn't have saved him anyway..) and telling Jonas to stay away from her...
It just rubs me the wrong way. Like, I feel for her, in a way. I get that she reacted badly because she was hurting. But her choice of coping mechanism was terrible, and paints her as maybe not having been as nice a person as she seemed. Because a genuinely nice person wouldn't have acted that way, wouldn't have chosen to hurt Alex by blaming her and by trying to ruin her relationship with her step-brother by telling him he'd suffer for being part of her life. Doesn't mean she deserves to be sacrificed, but it also doesn't mean she's any less of a bitch. She _chose_ to handle Michael's death by being hard on Alex. She didn't _have_ to react that way. At the very least she could have let up after a while, but she seemed bound and determined to stay pissed at Alex forever.
i loved clarissa since the start, her character is so lovable for me. I grew up around people like her and when i played, i tried my hardest for clarissa.
I completely agree that I think she is or was a nice person and that she's still grieving over Michael and acting poorly towards Alex specifically because she blames Alex for Michael's death, but from the sound of things there wasn't a "Good" option to choose so I can't personally fault Jack for sacrificing Clarissa.

Long story short since idk if you did it.
Maggie Adlers Letters: Essentially they explained how Maggie was working the tower and saw the submarines frequency, calling a hit on it and ended up accidentally killing everyone on the kanoloa. It was her fault and she lived with it her whole life and her friend was said to be lost and taken in by the waves (hence the soaked to quickly comment in the house).
Alex:Started this trip and in order to save her friends she has to be eternaly stuck living the same night over and over again. The game is a way to look at consequences. No matter what ending you get (even the one where you actually stop Alex from even going to the island) there will always be a Alex stuck in the time loop. She sacrificed her life for her friends.
Anomalies:literally hints helping you figure out more of the stuff I just explained. That and a morse code of Annie saying she's still alive, can't move, and is cold.
Endings:
●everyone (including Michael) is alive
●The one you did
●Everyone makes it back
●Everyone makes it back but Nona and Ren aren't together
●Clarissa doesn't come back and it's just the 3 of you
● everyone makes it back but they dislike how you attempted to leave Clarissa behind and some of them resent Alex for it.
●hear Alex warn herself about the island and never go in the first place (leaving Clarissa and Nona there but as far as we know Alex was the one who accidentally started everything just like maggie)
In a nutshell that's this whole game. Understanding that no matter what we do in life there will be consequences to our choices no matter what, and being accepting of those choices and consequences is sometimes the hardest thing to do.
Not gonna lie. I just don't think these type of games are for you jack. Obviously.. to much talking? Bro you literally like missed a bunch of dialog because you kept clicking on stuff and leaving the area. The "hurry up,, are you gonna use the radio" banter only happened once. All the other times was due to how you decided to take it. Seemed like you probably shouldn't play these type of games if you're feeling FPSy or whatever.
All I'm saying. Is you honestly didn't give yourself the chance to fully enjoy it. You didn't once in my opinion engulf yourself to the story. Don't play games like this if you feel like you gotta please the "comments". People who watch these games wanna get engulfed too and hearing you completely interrupting the conversation they're having or ignoring it was infuriating.

I did. Everyone keeps saying it's her ghost somewhere in the boat, but if you look at her name tag color. It is green which confirms that Clarissa possessed Alex and that is why the Timeline is all wonky. Giving the fact that you got rid of Alex at the end and not Clarissa. Very sad ending.

I know that no one will see this, but, I live in Victoria, Australia. And there was a terrible attack on Bourke St, Melbourne. The attacker had the intention of killing people, by deliberately driving his car into pedestrians in the Melbourne Bourke Street mall, which resulted in killing 5 people, in which was a 10 year old girl and a 3 month old and more than 30 others were injured. 15 people are in hospital, 4 that are critically injured.
All I want is for this people to be remembered and for the injured to heal and by no means am I saying this to get likes or even noticed.
I know this is a bit late, but my prayers are with those in Melbourne.

I'm pretty sure she was a ghost, and she was watching over them. When the ghosts possessed her body, her soul went free and she became a ghost. She was most likely watching over them as they were returning, and she said to herself "good analogy" even though no one else could hear it.
