This game perfectly emulates the bilingual experience: you go through all the song and dance to make it clear that English is not your first language and apologize in advance for all the mistakes, and native English speakers just hit you with "lol it okay" without even moving their mouth
okay but seriously, as someone who speaks primarily english (born in america to non english speaking immigrant parents), as long as you are understandable, english speakers dont give a shit LMFAOOO genuinely if your words are generally understandable, people wont even care that you have an accent 😭

So true! English is my second language and writing is not a problem, even enjoyable. But as soon as I have to speak, I feel like that robot. I'm so stressed about not only my accent, but everything else (grammar, word pronunciation, etc.), that I basically start a procedure "forget to English". The worst thing is, that I have daily calls with a USA-based client, and while I have gotten better at speaking, I still can't overcome my anxiety 😅

This is how it feels to learn a foreign language, especially if you need to make sounds your native language doesn't have (you need to be painfully aware of exactly what you're doing with your tongue, mouth and throat).

And talking about it so openly. As someone who struggles with mental health struggles and depression it really does make a difference in people's lives. It helps people to not feel so alone. Not a lot of people who have the kind of influence that you do talk about mental health and the struggles that go with it. So thank you for doing so. It is appreciated and helps others. it's like the instructor is on level 1 of their own mission on how to talk like a human and they've been assigned the most inexpensive model because they haven't ranked up to earn the ones with proper tooth holding
