- Track 7 from the album Permanent Damage, 1969. Also known as Do Me In Once and I'll Be Sad, Do Me In Twice and I'll Know Better.
Lyrics:
Muddy Goppup standing there
Roses held by him
Stopped to catch Kee Lee Da Da Do
But the circle would not permit it
This circular circulation
I circle continuously
To prepare myself for memories
And have a talk with me
Mighty burst Muddy Goppup had
To cure him of this fever
The sun came on, the cord came off
His seat became the lever
So what was one to do right then
At fourteen minutes after
I shook his hand, explained the plan
And set stone walls to laughter
Was at this time the power ceased
Yellow darts were flying
A gentle bum rose from the street
Upon which he was lying
The circular circulation
I circle continuously
To prepare myself for memories
And have a talk with me
Serves you right, Mr. Goppup screamed
Four signs on his window
To let another make your dreams
For the rest of you to show
Can't think for the life of me
Pounds, Do Da Kee Lee
More different than before the start
You cheated and pretended to.
Was at this time the power ceased
Yellow darts were flying
A gentle bum rose from the street
Upon which he was lying
The circular circulation
I circle continuously
To prepare myself for memories
And have a talk with me
I can see the influence they had helping Alice Cooper with their image with clothing and make-up back in 69-70.
The album's a real collector's item, especially with Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck on it. Nobody outside the Music business were aware of the Groupie scene until Frank Zappa. He had this knack for exposing underground culture to the masses.
First heard this song when I was a boy. I bought a mail order sampler LP from the Bizarre/Straight label for $1. There was a flier advert in the "Mothers" Freak Out LP that my older brother had bought. This wars my favorite song on that sampler disk. The melody has always stayed with me. Now I get to hear it again..Amazing!
I had that album!
I had it too. But my favorite song on that album was Captain Beefheart's "The Blimp".
I Still Have My Copy!!
Me too. My favorite song was "Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up" by Jeff Simmons
@@chuckanderberg7209 Zappa liked that one too. He covered it on Joe's Garage.
This one STILL sounds great decades later...!
miss pam was such a doll!!
Definitely hear/feel the Lowell George vibe thru this! The waif singing reminds me so much of Mo Tucker doing "Afterhours" with the Velvet Underground....
The very first of the cool girl bands of the new age!!!
Couldn't agree more 🤘🤘❤️🖖
Youngsters Jeff Beck, Ry Cooder, Davy Jones and Rod Stewart also contributed to this album...and I'm very sure enjoyed much pleasure with these crazy little groupies .... produced by the one and only-- Frank Zappa!
No way! That's incredible! Wow!
Met Miss Lucy at a gay bar in the 80s she was was charming RIP
The one and only Frank Zappa!!!!
LOVE MISS PAMELA! And she's following me on tumblr .. my life is made
beautiful
I knew miss Lucy in NYC In the 90s RIP
RIP Miss Mercy
My fave GTO ❤️❤️ Miss you Miss Mercy, much Love always ❤️❤️
Learn more about how this song came about, how Lowell George wrote the music, how the GTOs were formed and the eventual demise of the group in a new book, Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa by Pauline Butcher published by Plexus in England.
Miss Mercy Loves You #Forever
Can you believe Miss Pamela is beginning her own clothing line called Groupie Couture?
I can't wait!!!
My fave ❤️❤️
Miss Sandra wrote the lyrics and miss Pamela was the one who sang it..
I looove the Gtos
I first heard this from ZAPPED, some weird stuff indeed, wild man Fisher, captain beefhart, GTOS, Alice Cooper, from pretties for you .... Gotta be high on some good chronic for this one!🏜️
Thank you so much for posting this
the great lost Little Feat song
[15 March 2021] Oh, absolutely. That's what I'm listening for. Mind you, it could also be considered the great *proto* - Little Feat song; sort of a possible prologue to "Willin" (at least in its sound, if not in its lyrics).
Fantastic!
reading miss mercy memoir now im doing deep dive research. she has such impact till 2024
@ChickweblisLuv
Her clothing line is on Facebook. The line hasn't come out yet but I think she is going to have some really cool stuff!!
I LOVE IT !
Me too! Psychedelic girl-group bliss!
LOL still a good laugh
Catchy as hell, but trying to find who actually authored, played on and sang it, I've seen a bunch of different conflicting credits.
In one interview with Miss Sparky she claims she wrote the music with a piano instructor named Davey Jones (not the Monkees guy or Bowie), while comments here and on other pages credit completely different GTOs and musicians. So - whodunnit??
This coulda been a hit had it come out a few years later, it sounds very prescient of country rock.
I have not begun to decipher the lyrics, what's listed here is semi-incoherent or at least cryptic. What I can make sense of seems to sketch a picture of groupie seduction or male lust, but the jury is out. If anyone has any info or thoughts, I'd be curious, maybe the band or people they knew shed light in an interview somewhere?
Regardless of the words, I love the singer's pure and amateurish singing style, seems very genuine and vulnerable. I agree with the other poster who compared it to Moe Tucker. The sheer musicality of this song really makes it stand out for me.
Christine Frka
i believe it's miss pam, i'm not completely sure though
I can't believe two of these girls made it out of the band alive.
billyx67 what do you mean?
@@donnasalihu1101 2 survive today. Pam and Sparky.
I definitely think they influenced the Tom Tom Club.
