- This documentary of the Intel NUC mini PC has four interviewees giving their thoughts on the Intel Next Unit of Computing from its beginning in 2011 to the present day. Various topics are discussed such as how the Intel NUC team was formed, launch of the first units, what they're used for, the failure of Intel Compute Stick, lack of marketing and the eventual partnership with AMD for Radeon graphics.

NUC is getting too big in size. I really need it as small as possible powered by USB C and not needing a special power brick.
yeah very interesting, thank you for the great work on this video. (Y) i hope we see the successor of hades canyon in the next months ?😊
Rob, thank you for taking the time to showcase a product that changed the direction of computing for many. The NUC platform has served many people well for years and opened the door to the entire segment.
10:19 i dont know in usa, but here in spain, that is in every single burguer king
This is amazing, this really shows the Intel dysfunction has already been present in the past. Current gen processors blowing up is just an extrapolation of their corporate culture
Im buying my first nuc for officework since i sold my gaminglaptop to a buddy of mine for $650
A j4415U nuc from AliExpress paired with 13.3" portable monitor feels a lot like laptop these days
And both of that only for $199 is still a good deal
I still hope for Phantom Canyon to become a reality...Hades Canyon was such a neat product and deserves a refresh.
I recently picked up a Bean Canyon second hand by chance and it has literally replaced my desktop that I have been lugging around every time I have to move, Love it!
EVERY classroom in my school has NUCs combined with a video projector. It’s just normal at my school
I saw one of those small pcs and almost shit myself. It’s insane how small they are yet pack so much powet
10:05 Bonus points for the developers who know a good soundtrack to work to.
My Nuc just decided not to turn on.The light is on the motherboard though. Any ideas what could be wrong with it .It's had minimal use.Its about 18months old .Thanks
Could be a few things. CMOS needing to be reset is a likely culprit. Try Intel's support document for this issue first www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/articles/000005845/intel-nuc.html.
Your NUC will still be under warranty if it has become faulty
@@Robtech Thanks Rob.
Great documentary and nice to see the project was something the team really enjoyed. Nice work!
cant wait to see a nuc that competes with the pn50
It's the Intel Compute Stick that I bought back when I was in College the reason why I bought 3 Intel Nucs i7 today now that I can afford them to use in my business. I hope that people can see the potential of a tiny PC so that the market will grow and doesn't died down.
Owning my third Intel NUC, watching this on my Apple IPad pro 2018, with same performance. Waiting for ICE Lake NUC. Pleas switch to USB-C Power Delivery Power supply with GaN technology
I love NUC and I have 2. However I think INTEL Engineers need to improve their Designs.....as they all run too hot and it is a problem with NUC. A ongoing HUGE Problem
9:57 LoL. rack mounting chassis from our company. we are keep doing it www.NUCserver.com since gen5 vPro model.
This documentary is very informative, thanks for posting this. I had bought a nuc for personal use and ended up buying another one for my eldest. What grabbed me was it had a Intel core and it was tiny, the features on it were great, expandable memory and features and being a Small unit being able to take it with you etc benefits are not only brilliant but also very useful. Thanks for Designing this amazing product. Cheers

Intel : ''more performance for the same watts''
AMD : '' more performance for less watts''

Haha, back in the past, AMD meant ten time the power, a lot of heat and no HW integrated functions. Since Ryzen came out, it flipped.
A proper mini documentary for a mini market
13:35 Aged like milk.
Just watched this again and it is still one of the best History videos, well edited. And not much has changed.... yet (to be continued)
Intel is stopping investment on the nuc though.
@@Ilham.H Simply NUC is already shipping equivilent models of all "4x4" Intel NUCs, some with more IO or higher performance and they announced Moonstone, a 54w "4x4" (where Intel recently got to 35w in the "4x4"). Simply NUC is one of the Ecosystem partners Intel indirectly mentions and has been increasing their investments on the NUC formfactor.
Very professional, informative, and engaging. 10/10 would recommend
Concur with the others, a very inforrmative, well put together documentary. I am very happy with my (2) Bean Canyons.
What is the music played in the intro?
Right Here Beside You by Spence
Wowwww...great documentary! Well done Robtech.
One of the most interesting things I've ever seen on UA-cam. Thanks, Rob!
👍very interesting 😉 thanks
Nice work Rob!
Watching this after recently learning about NUCs and it's an awful name. It should be branded and locked down as a "Mini PC", "Micro PC", or "Nano PC"
NUC doesn't tell me what kind of computer it is or why I should be excited about it. Next Unit of Computing is too generic and when you think about how a lot of laptops and desktop hardware are just better next generation compute units, the name NUC makes no sense. And their SKU names are a dozen letters and numbers smashed together, literally the ending letters of one of their names was "MYBE" and I thought this was a scam listing. It's almost as terrible as intel's recent cpu names. What in the world is an i5 1135G7 or i7 1165G7 because they aren't 6 or 8 core cpu's as i5 or i7 tries to mislead and 35 and 65 has no correlation to their igpu cores and G7 has no relevance. Even the 11 has little relevance as just another generation increment but 10 for 10nm was already wasted.
I am excited by the boards but man, hire a damned intern for marketing if you guys are gonna take the computer engineer stereotype seriously.
I love my NUC, it is my first home PC.
