I'm American and have loved the Queen all my life. I've followed everything for the last 10 days and have cried and cried. What a tremendous loss to the whole world. She was a treasure that will be sorely missed.

I was in the crowd today, found it very moving. I was privileged to stand next to and speak to a former US Marine who was in tears. He said he was envious of the military who paraded today, saying he wished he could have been part of it. He told me he had paraded many times in the US but that it was not the same.

And a Marine who was proud of his country would not have said he wished he would have been part of this and a Marine who is envious of another countries military isn't a Marine. I served with the Marines and NEVER once met one who envied any other military, nor did I meet anyone who did.

This is quite an extraordinary funeral! No other nation can perform such a stunning departure for Queen Elizabeth II.
The sailors hauling the gun carriage with the crown adorned coffin on top was a a beautiful sight.
Rest In Peace your Majesty. Although I am American, her departure gives me a sense of the end of a high level of dedication, patience, appropriateness and duty. Her passing reminds me no one lasts forever and those of us who witnessed Princess Diana’s funeral, know time is certainly ticking on. Although this is the end of her era, the work and dedication she’s done will live on in perpetuity.

I saw her in person 3 times in about 23 years. There was a report that about 31% of British people had either met her or seen her in person over the years - I can believe that. My next door neighbour had been one of the engineers who installed the engines on the Royal Yacht Britannia when she was built in the early 1950s; when she was decommissioned in 1997 they were all invited back to say goodbye and meet the Queen.

This is so beautiful and majestic for the Royal Queen Elizabeth. Thank you so much for your dignified and excellent commentary! It was a blessing to watch. I'm from Texas and today was my mother's 99th birthday, she and my father were also married in 1947 as was the Queen. I have loved the royal family all of my life and was brought up to respect them and think of them as being "somewhat" a picture of the heavenly kingdom here on earth... as I think her funeral services surely exemplified today. I feel so honored to have shared this day along with my mother's birthday because she also went to heaven 4 years ago. It was a bit like losing my mother and Grandma all over again only in a much more regal setting.
