Hi from D.K.s lofts Birmingham rollers, I put 50mm holes, then mesh up, in the back wall at the top for ventilation for hot days, (heat rises) to keep my kids (pigeons) cool on hot days.
have 23 flyers in one loft, 29 stock pigeons for beading in another loft, one may say they're spoiled.
I have breeding cages outside, breeding inside the loft, fights break out, and picking at the chick's heads.
on hot days when they are out flyers, I put a large pot plant dish out with water 600mm wide,
pigeons love baths.
the chicks I handle when they are young, to trust me. when I am in the flyers loft 1500x870mm x 1800mm high with a sunning cage outside. while I am in there my pigeons land on my shoulder.
Pigeons will- mine do let me know when a hawk is around,. mine stare at it in the sky.
