One of the biggest disservice of the mainline games on the Switch is they took out Megas. As you mentioned I enjoyed using Mega Charizard Y to make sun team.
I'm with you on the new type mechanics. I feel like such a huge reason Pokémon games have been so popular is because they're simple on the surface, but can become more complex if you get into it a little deeper (IE min/max, IVs, etc). I feel like they're trying to appeal to the people who care about the more complex mechanics which forces the whole game to become more complex. I feel that the older games had much more of a balance between casual and (for lack of a better term) 'hardcore'.
I liked the main series footage with the commentary/ramble. Would love to see more of this in the future

I'm having fun with the terra types, it's pretty cool, give it a chance.
I got a lvl 50, (15, 15, 13) 96% Terrakion with double kick and Sacred Sword, also just recently maxed out my (15, 15, 14) 98% Shadow Machamp that I recently caught in a 1 star shadow raid back in May it's my best Shadow Champ, as well as I still have a lvl 40 (15, 9, 15) 89% Shadow Champ, a lvl 40 (14, 15, 15) 98% Conkeldur, and my lvl 50 Hundo Lucario, as well as I have the option of either my lvl 50 Hundo Lopunny or my lvl 50 Hundo Blaziken for the megas and I'm pretty set I do chunks of damage to Zilla boi
You don’t need weather or mega as I did it with 14 secs left on the clock. But yes my team was very high level
Today i did 7 raids in total and every single raid had the shadow hits. Its funny when it kills a pokemon and then the next one comes in and get charge move smacked immediately too lol
Why isn’t anyone talking about the pokeball nerf in gifts?
As a competitive player I understand why they never brought back megas, they were very very punishing for the meta, but tbf so are most gimmicks, Tera type is the most balanced out of all of them, megas could be if they gave them to Pokémon that needed it unlike mence or Ttar who definitely didn’t need it
With the current meta with paradox mons megas would balance the meta
