I got the first 2022 CRF 250R to hit my local dealers floor , I can say that everything in the video is pretty accurate, but I’d buy it again. I am a Vet rider that has been off a bike for 20 years but I do love my 125 feeling Honda and I maybe one the first to do a 270 kit with an ignition system to see how it does if I ever get enough hours on it . I hope the guys over at Dirt Bike Magazine watch this great shootout vid and take notes 📝.
@@thinkandrepent3175 I’m a Honda man all the way , my first bike was a 1975 Elsinore and almost everything we ride is Honda, I have often wondered if these magazine folks get kick backs to vote certain ways but I can see all the value that the Yamaha has, and can see how it could get winning votes . however the bike that won the championship was last year’s platform and it was a works machine with hell of a pilot on it so I’m not sure if that’s enough to justify to stock platform win or not 🤷♂️
I have a 17 yz250 2 stroke and love it but rode my step dads 250sx-f when I didn’t have an air filter and really enjoyed it. Since then I’ve been wanting to get a 250 4 stroke as a 2nd bike but never rode anything other than the Ktm or Suzuki 250 4 strokes. Wanted to stick with Yamaha and I’m for sure sticking with the blue crew now

I'm an intermediate rider, I had a CRF 250R 2021, I use it for like 50 hours then I get a Yz250F. I ride like 10 hours to get confy on the YZ. Then I when I try to ride the CRF, i notice that the YZ is superior on every aspect. It has a lot more response (the motor is better), and the suspension is like in another level. I never touch the CRF suspension I ride it stock, the I ride the YZ also stock. When I got back to the CRF after riding the YZ for the first time I realized that the CRF suspension is to soft I have to put like 12 clicks harder and it only improve a bit The YZ suspension has it all, it's hold in the big jumps and it's confy on the deep ruts. Yamaha is a far superior bike!
I switched from Yamaha to kawi last year, and still agree Yamaha is the best bike. However, you have to ride what’s comfortable for you. Personally I love the kawi but it needed suspension work done. I am just more comfortable on it.
@@JCem8409 you are the drastically thinning portion of the buyer’s. Most people who are willing to buy a new bike don’t mind the extra 2k (especially when financing is so cheap) to get all of the latest and greatest things.

Depends. I have both, 06 yz250 2 stroke that’s in new condition with a works pipe and v force reeds, and a 21 yz250f that’s bone stock. The 2 stroke is fun to ride, but when I race, I’m racing the 4 stroke because I’m constantly faster on it.
It's crazy to see that only the KTM and the YZ are consistently in every company's top 3. Mx action had husky no1 in both 250 and 450 yet you've got it 2nd last.
It would be nice to see something else then the 3 same Austrian bikes vs the same 4 Japanese bikes. Theirs a few other bikes like TM, Beta, and Sherco that deserve a spot in these shootouts. For those who don’t know about TM motorcycles look it up. Their bikes are just as good if not better than any of these bikes in the shootouts.
Late to comment but high seats on the Honda, Ktm, Husky and Gasgas keep the ergo’s still great. I’m 6.1 and have the factory extra high seat on a Husky.
Awesome video, it is really about the subjective opinion. On Swapmoto live the winner was kawi. I am really curious how you get suzuki there, because it was missing in every other shootout. :-) Great job guys , keep going.

The Yamaha makes less horsepower and less torque than the KTM, yet they still say “it has more grunt”. It’s gotta be because it revs so quickly. Good stuff.
If I did this video I would ask ten groups of people five people in each group about what they think of each bike that may very much tell you more about each bike. I like them all. Favorite is KTM
Wish KTM did more than just make different color clones. Love that they save dying brands hate the way they do it. There is not enough parody in European motocross because of it and it’s beginning to stifle US MX/SX as well. Having half the field all really on the same team sucks maybe it will push Decoster back to a Japanese brand.
It's because of KTMs CEO. He wants to save money by having all three with the same platform just like car companies do it. He also said in an interview that he got the idea by looking at european car companies. But I 100% agree with you. But other companies do the same. Fantic for example is a european brand that is based completely on Yamahas.

Plus you know the parent company doesn’t want to lose to its own little brothers regardless of what they say they don’t want a championship going to GasGas or Husky they want them to be on a Orange bike. Not to say they are not happy when someone like Billy Bolt does win a title but you know they would prefer it to be Manny.
@@jonruger yeah European racing is weird like that. Like in F1 a lot of other race team’s use Mercedes engines in their car’s when they directly compete against Mercedes. Doesn’t make sense why you would supply your competitor with your engine. I know it’s just a stock engine and races are won with factory build’s but still. Maybe KTM is doing this to see what changes work better in their engine platform’s. Like, GasGas seems to be on to something with their stock bike being that it handle’s amazing but they don’t have that snappy power like KTM and Yamaha. Obviously KTM probably has night/day configurations for their factory bike but they seem like they would do better if they slimmed down a little weight and profile. Ultimately it depends on the rider of course. I can’t help but wonder if Jett Lawrence or Eli Tomac rode for KTM if they would’ve done as well… or possibly better? The Gasgas is the same as the ktm it only has a cheaper bars , triple clamps , rims , no maping switch and the front part of the exhaust has no powerbomb
Yea for power but not for weight ktm engine is so much stronger compared in durability depending on if you ride like a duck head and valve bash it buy ktm engine seeme to last longer

Do a shootout to see which bike is the most durable and not a high maitnance shitbox, like yamahas recomendation of top end/cam chain replacment is a JOKE. No way would anybody spend that much on maitnance with a new bike. Sorry but yeah the bikes are great but a 2 stroke is more appealing and affordable.
@@kruse1105 Yamaha recommends a top end and cam chain every 15hrs and i have seen bikes that snap cam chains at 30hrs, bottom ends at 40hrs, the gears wearing so fast they need to be replaced under 40hrs, there is no longevity out of the yamaha 250d now, sad when a ktm is now half the maitnance and cost to take it to 40hrs lol. And not to mention the new crf250r is a all new design motor so not sure how all the mechanics will go rebuilding them in the first few years lol

Because the manufacturer says 15hrs on a piston and cam chain, and i know they dont hold up to 120hrs with somebody who can ride the bike the way its ment to be ridden, i could see 120hrs of easy trail riding but the valves and top end should of had maitnance by then!!
@Phil Swift not really, they say thay because a part is designed to not last reliably if taken past the hrs recommend. Its like oil changes lol the ones that have the maitnance last, its not optional haha the new yamahas are junk at 40hrs sorry if i hurt your feelings if you read this and own one😂

i got the 2022 crf250r also, just got off a yamaha 125 and i’d say the crf is the closest 250 that feels and rides like a 125.
The bike just won the damn championship, it should be on the top step. I'll never understand the Honda hate from the MX press.

I think the yz205fx is the best all around bike on the market. It performs great on the trails and on the track

I switched from Yamaha to kawi last year, and still agree Yamaha is the best bike. However, you have to ride what’s comfortable for you. Personally I love the kawi but it needed suspension work done. I am just more comfortable on it.
kawa and yamaha are my personal favorites. Yamaha is more refined but Kawas have fun engine character and look mean.

I have a 300cc smx and yeah it is the best brand. Here in france they are cheaper than usa of course but Tm factory are the best factory

We used our 2021 model that we still had. Suzuki wasn't submitting 2022s for Shootout.

@@kruse1105 Yamaha recommends a top end and cam chain every 15hrs and i have seen bikes that snap cam chains at 30hrs, bottom ends at 40hrs, the gears wearing so fast they need to be replaced under 40hrs, there is no longevity out of the yamaha 250d now, sad when a ktm is now half the maitnance and cost to take it to 40hrs lol. And not to mention the new crf250r is a all new design motor so not sure how all the mechanics will go rebuilding them in the first few years lol
@@matthewwest1262 I got a 20 yz250f 120 hours an still running likes it straight out the show room floor take care an keep up with maintenance an the bike will last long

Because the manufacturer says 15hrs on a piston and cam chain, and i know they dont hold up to 120hrs with somebody who can ride the bike the way its ment to be ridden, i could see 120hrs of easy trail riding but the valves and top end should of had maitnance by then!!
@Phil Swift not really, they say thay because a part is designed to not last reliably if taken past the hrs recommend. Its like oil changes lol the ones that have the maitnance last, its not optional haha the new yamahas are junk at 40hrs sorry if i hurt your feelings if you read this and own one😂
