Here’s another interesting theory idea: Chuck E. Cheese’s connections to Barney The Dinosaur! Because there’s actually quite a lot of them. 1. The original voice of Barney from 1988 to 2000, Bob West, also voiced Jasper and Pasqually around the same time. 2. Duncan Brennan, the voice of Chuck E from the early 90s to the early 2010s including in the Galaxy 5000 video, was also the singing voice for Barney for a short period of time. 3. One of the writers of Barney previously was a writer for Chuck E Cheese. 4. Chuck E Cheese was a sponsor for Barney on PBS for a long time!
I vividly remember those anamatronics playing on stage in the early 2000s, but does anyone remember the comic strips that were printed on the side of the arcade games giving backstories to some of the side characters? There was one where they talked about the dog being a raceway driver, the chicken going out to take photos (on the side of the photo booth where you sat in a car with Chucke) and the band meeting the purple monster. Should totally see if you can find those to add to the lore.
Yes a full deep dive into the full lore and storys of them would be cool Wonder how much of the lore/storys like this has become lost media tracking down images and footage of the storys o the rides would be wierd and interesting

I love how in-depth MatPat gets when making any theory. Also I lived near a Chuck E. Cheese and my brother used to work there, but it shut down a little before the pandemic. It's still just dirt, I pass by almost everyday and it just brings back memories. Also I have a question: How long could someone survive off of one singular food, for example, tortillas, or beans?
I actually remember having pretty good times in the Chuck E cheese in Altoona. Sure it's shut down now, but it was decent fun with friends and the animatronics didn't really bother us at all. Kinda sad it fell on hard times like it did,. but glad that theories like this bring up the memories every once in a while.
@@Toaster003 Wow! Really? I was certain that whole area [minus the putput course near sheetz and the movie theaters] had the recreational areas like those shut down. Fun Fact: In the most recent Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book, Greg and one of Rodrick's bandmates go to a pizzeria arcade with animatronics, (clearly a Chucky Cheese reference) and in that part of the story, a woman gets mad because the pizzas have uneven sliced that 'appear to be made of other people's recycled pizzas.'
I’m a HUGE Chuck E Cheese buff, like I know everything. I was so excited to this posted, and I highly recommend you make a video diving into the VERY interesting backstory and history of the franchise :)
I knew the backstory before I watched this video. Here is what I know "Chuck E. Cheese is an orphan who didn't know his birthday. He found a restraint that served great pizza. The cook tried to murder Chuck, Chuck sang and was made a star." THANK GOD this video did not give me nightmares! Love your videos Matpat!!!!!!
1:50 hold up, wasn't this one of the notes in Security Breach? Edit: Yep, just checked the wiki, here it is: "CUSTOMER COMPLAINT - The pizza we ordered was weird. Some pieces were different sizes or didn't fit together. One slice even had different toppings. Did you recycle the old pizza from the trash? I am never coming back here unless I am given some sort of major discount. - Angry Mom" Edit #2: Please stop saying "the fnaf thing was a reference to this irl incident" I KNOW THAT
I actually worked at Chuck E. Cheese’s, and during orientation/training I had to read Chuck E Cheeses official backstory on a tablet. It was surprising.
The story of concept unification (aka turning all the rockifire explosion into cec characters) is actually really sad as all of the props and whatnot that weren't reused for cec were destroyed. They didn't want them to be able to be sold so the corporation had them destroyed and now there are very few good quality rockifire props/animatronics and whatnot left. And now cec is trying to faze out the animatronics all together, it's pretty sad for all those out there that who are passionate about this stuff including myself.
Then: "But when you do die-" "I've taken steps to ensure that never happens" Now: "I like pizza. I like animatronics. I like murder" MatPat is William Afton confirmed?!
just what i needed before my little cousin’s birthday party at chuck e. cheese tomorrow. now i’m not only scared of getting the plague from some putrid toddlers, i also have LORE to think of!! matpat you have done it again…
I laugh at the concept of being afraid of animatronic robots as I had amazing fun every time I went to the former Showbiz Pizza when I was a little boy. This was what ours were called in the southeastern U.S. in the 1980's & early 1990's prior to being converted to Chuck E. Cheese. It made me want to open a video game arcade.
I never found the Chuck E. Cheese animatronics scary. I kept popping in tokens to hear more songs as a kid on the rare visits we made to the restaurant. I'd even sneak into the bar area to make those play their songs. I didn't go in the ball pit much but I had to make at least one trip to the strobe light cave. The same goes for Teddy Ruxpin and friends. I never understood why anyone found those scary so by the time the Freddy's franchise started they were playing on an internet famous fear my mind can't comprehend existing.
I just watch the concept unification for changing the animatronics’ cosmetics to Chuck E Cheese characters and it is sort of creepy, but the jazz in the background is comforting. Maybe that’s just me. It’s definitely the inspiration for that parts and repairs video by battington… or the inspiration for the video that battington’s one was based off.
i work at a chuck e. cheese, and apparently before my current gm took over they would make our cast members learn the backstory as part of their training, and i got to hear the whole backstory when i was closing once
There was a girl in my kindergarten class named Maria who LOVED cats. Every Wednesday, she would be excused and when I say every, I mean it. Every Wednesday, she would go to Chuck E Cheese. When we shared about our day in the morning, all she shared about was that she went to Chuck E Cheese. She missed SO much school just because of that hellhole.
I was too. Every time my family went to Cicis Pizza while it was still open, i always cried and fought for my life as I tried to defeat that beast once and for all. I never succeeded.
I love how Mat really had the “it all adds up” strings in the section where he sounds the craziest on saying a fictional character was aware of the loss of popularity 😂
I'm an employee at Chuck E Cheese. Part of my training included reading Chuck E's backstory. Yes. He is an orphan, canonically. We got rid of the animatronics very recently. My location only ever had the one. Stage C Beta. When I was young, I had my birthday party there. My cousin dragged me behind the purple stage curtain and tried to shove my head in Chuck E's mouth. Mind you this happened in 2010. Anyway, good video! Gonna send this to my coworkers haha
As a kid I was a HUHE fan of going to Chuck E Cheese’s. That said it was because of the pizza, the arcade and the playground. The animatronics were ALWAYS horrifying.
great video! matpat included a lot of details that i rarely see talked about, however he did get a few details wrong. Chucks name was originally *ricky* rat, and it was actually Bushnells friend who bought the original costume, and a friend who told him having rat in the name was a bad idea. Bushnell also wasn’t a huge disney fan, but his daughter was. he used to work for disney parks and used their scrapped idea for an animatronic eat-in as a basis for Check E Cheese. as well as him wanting to make more money off of Atari games, as the versions of in-home games that existed at the time looked weird, and no one really wanted them. other than those small details (and a few more that didn’t matter much,) a great covering of Chucks history and story!
YESSSSSSSS. As an ex Cec employee I’m glad you’re looking at the lore. It’s so weird. And it makes me so happy you watched that acid trip of a movie 😂. Also there was a another human member of the gang called Steve waters who advertised Pepsi max. So many weird things that company has done.
I have a food theory idea; my friend found a water brand called liquid death, and when we read the label we discovered that there is lore. Just thought this would be funny and cool to look into.
I used to go to Chuck E. Cheese's for parties and birthdays when my brothers and I were little. We used to play games and in the ball pool and slide. This brings back so many memories!
Jasper has good taste in books though, I had to read ‘of mice and men’ last year in school and it’s a great book, i recommended, the book has amazing characters and an amazing plot twist, it pulls off funny and just devastating events in scenes, if you ever have the option to read this book i recommend, it’s a great book. 👍🏻

Its so awesome to have somebody who's really famous on UA-cam who is finally talking about the entire characters of Chuck E. Cheese. I mean serisously, outside Chuck E., the rest of the cast are tragically underrated. 👌🏻😆 Pasqually & Mr. Munch are my boys
There's a tape out there that contradicts Chuck E's backstory. It was one of the earlier anniversary celebrations that also give him a backstory. And it literally says he left his parents house to go start a career in New York.
@@dafilmqueen556 How? It had the VA's for animatronics at the time. And it was the same song for all the anniversary celebrations throughout the years.
The backstory mentioned is from the Chuck E Cheese song "every boy every girl". However, it's from the 2017 version of the song as there are 2 more versions of it prior to the rock star era & both seem to come from the avenger era, 1997 & 2007. In both versions, Chuck mentions how when he left his home so long ago, about 20 years ago in 1997 & 30 for 2007, he said goodbye to his folks before working at every club across New York making cheesy songs & jokes, & doing shows for kids which was where his dream started. As for Pasqually's side of the story, he sold pizza from door to door when Chuck needed a master chef who could sing & the two went off to California meeting the other members of Munch's Make Believe Band. So while the backstory you shared in the video may be true for the 2017 rock star Chuck E., the backstory for the 1997 & 2007 versions which are pretty much the same tells a different story, one of Avenger Chuck. It explains that Chuck has a family but left to start a new life with dreams of entertaining others & Pascqually was just an ordinary pizza chef who got a gig thanks to the mouse. So, either Avenger Chuck considered the orphanage his "folks" if he indeed was an orphan or maybe CEC entertainment sort of retcon the backstory for the 2017 version of the song, which probably wouldn't matter if Rock Star Chuck is a DIFFERENT character from Avenger Chuck.
The origins of Chuckie cheese is similar to alivne and the chipmunks Dave wanted to get rid of them in his home once they sing and he heard their singing he brought them to his house and used them later got attached to them got the girls and later adopted them as his kids
I used to work at a Chuck E. Cheese AS Chuck E. Cheese & I never heard anything even half as interesting as the stuff in this video! Thank you, Team Theorist, this video was quite the treat!
@@kinsou3865 I was just surprised that I never heard any of the lore despite working there. But full disclosure, I quit that job because it was making me hate children... & their parents. I once had my cousin come over and he said we were gonna watch the chucky movie. Only being 6 years old at the time, I assumed he was talking about the Chuck E Cheese movie, but instead I was tricked into watching a horror movie about a serial killer doll. Now I’m wondering if the Chucky movie I watched wasn’t so bad compared to the one I could’ve watched…
I kinda see some issues with that considering that Pasqually referred to Chuck E as "boss" in quite a bit of early Pizza Time Theater skits, also Chuck got away with roasting even Pasqually in the segments during those timelines.
That whole oppressive business relationship, by which Pasquale kept poor Chucky in a perpetual state of singing and smiling (under pain of death), reminds me of Slurms MacKenzie - mascot of the Slurm Centralized Industrial Fabrication Unit (SCIFU) on _Planet_ _Wormulon_ - in the episode of Futurama called, _"Fry_ _and_ _the_ _Slurm_ _Factory",_ where Slurms had to party non-stop to promote business or else the Slurm Queen would crush him like a worm… crushing a smaller worm… 😅 *DRINK* *SLURM!* _"It's_ _highly_ _addictive!"_
Love your videos! Figured its worth mentioning that the video breakdown of the animatronic character is actually Mitzi from The Rockafire explosion. The two bands are actually created by two different people(companies), but, some of the rockafire explosion characters were retrofitted into chuck-e-cheese characters! Pretty neat actually 🔥
7:26 Pasqually literally pulled out the “she can dance, she can sing, her hands can pull out helium balloons right out of her finger tips. She can dispense some ice cream..”
As someone who works at Chuck E. Cheese, I can just say the animatronics got a whole lot less harrowingly terrifying. There's only one, and it's Chuck E. And he's cute. I love lookin' at him. I do love hearing about creepy theories surrounding the franchise, and I love being there after dark with the animatronic.
Matpat i love how your scripts always make sense wether or not you’re able to see the visual queues, it’s really amazing and I’m sure makes a lot of people super happy to watch ur videos and not miss out on anything, please keep doing it!
Funny enough, Dave & Busters seems to have gradually been replacing Chuck E Cheese over the years. On another note, I can’t help but think Scott may have taken his kids to Chuck E Cheese a few times, being the inspiration, or at least coincidence, for Five Night’s at Freddy’s Freddy Fazbear’s pizza.
The inner bark can be eaten raw. It can also be laid out to dry to grind into flour later (using stones if you are in an emergency situation). You could then mix with water to bake or fry over a fire (like a pancake). Another option is to cut the bark into thin strips to boil in water, like noodles. Roasting smaller pieces by the fire until they are light brown in color is also a possibility. Anyone want Christmas tree pancakes
13:41 They aren't missing, most are guest stars (not band members) with the exception of any Warblettes retrofit, The Building, Mr. Moon, Pizza Cam and Munch Jr. They were guests on the show and eventually went on and another came in. Aside from the fact that most of the animatronic guest stars are now missing animatronic wise that's what happened to them. Now back to the characters I put aside for a bit and what happened to them, idk. When Concept Unification happened CEC retrofitted most of the characters from the Rock afire Explosion (aside from Mr. Moon) and so Munch Jr, Pizza Cam, The Building, and Mr. Moon exists without really an explanation other than them being random backup singers or just there (Munch Jr.). But Munch Jr did appear in a CEC video I'm pretty sure so I guess he's somewhat noticed by CEC. The Warblettes retrofits don't have a lot behind them or anything at all other than CEC using them to identify the PTT location back then which is also why guest stars existed at all, just to identify the location or also because it's just a side show because the pizza place was so packed back in the day that to keep the guests entertained while waiting for food. So in conclusion, not missing but guests. Edit: I forgot to talk about Crusty the Cat who was one of the original band members that was basically replaced 1 year after becoming a part of the band. He was replaced by Mr Munch because he wasn't very popular. (Thanks to Deadhead 9351 for reminding me)
4:25 "You have yourself a chef, a dog, a pig. But also a purple alien, the moon, a lineup of singing mops, a literal building, a hippo with jiggle physics and an old man known simply as Mr.Kootch" Reminds me of Pokémon (moon = lunatone, building = (gigantamax) duraludon, purple alien = poipole,...) 😂 I guess every franchise has to jump the shark at some point (being creative all the time is hard).
Pardon me, but I don't understand when people imply that using a wide variety of different source material as inspiration shows a lack of creativity-a lack of cohesion, that I would understand, but a lack of creativity? Would you be able to perhaps explain what you mean more? No trouble if you'd rather not.
I still can’t believe the fact that they seriously gave an animatronic rat an orphanage backstory.
And I would die peacefully if it was ever given an adult live-action horror-comedy movie adaptation.

Yes a full deep dive into the full lore and storys of them would be cool
Wonder how much of the lore/storys like this has become lost media tracking down images and footage of the storys o the rides would be wierd and interesting

I actually remember having pretty good times in the Chuck E cheese in Altoona. Sure it's shut down now, but it was decent fun with friends and the animatronics didn't really bother us at all.
Guess that`s just a well-known thing to say about pizzareias, I saw something similar in a fiction pizza place in a tv show
I’m a HUGE Chuck E Cheese buff, like I know everything.

Technically, Chuckie has stopped singing and performing for a little while now at all locations still featuring animatronics

There's a tape out there that contradicts Chuck E's backstory. It was one of the earlier anniversary celebrations that also give him a backstory. And it literally says he left his parents house to go start a career in New York.
Can it be proven to be his or not? Just asking in case it turns out to be fake..
@@dafilmqueen556

Man, Chuck E's story is something else.
You kinda rock dude
In a way, Pasqually is *ALMOST* like the real life William Afton.
The origins of Chuckie cheese is similar to alivne and the chipmunks Dave wanted to get rid of them in his home once they sing and he heard their singing he brought them to his house and used them later got attached to them got the girls and later adopted them as his kids

I kinda see some issues with that considering that Pasqually referred to Chuck E as "boss" in quite a bit of early Pizza Time Theater skits, also Chuck got away with roasting even Pasqually in the segments during those timelines.

Funny enough, Dave & Busters seems to have gradually been replacing Chuck E Cheese over the years.
(Thanks to Deadhead 9351 for reminding me)
This also took me way too long to type than it should've.
I support the commitment
Only one who's missing is crusty but was replaced with Mr.munch

4:25 "You have yourself a chef, a dog, a pig. Pardon me, but I don't understand when people imply that using a wide variety of different source material as inspiration shows a lack of creativity-a lack of cohesion, that I would understand, but a lack of creativity? Would you be able to perhaps explain what you mean more? No trouble if you'd rather not.
