    Hi Mike, love your videos. Do I still need a mixer if my podcast is just solo narration from one mic, with music and effects added later in Audition?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  Місяць тому

      Hi there! Thank you for the support! If you're doing solo narration with music and effects added later, you can achieve this setup without needing a mixer. However a mixer will give the processing before hitting Audition saving you a bit of time.

    Have you tried using the SM7DB version which I guess is the newest model of that microphone? What do you think of it? I had the regular version but I couldn't stand the fact that you had to use a pin to move the switches up and down. I kind of wonder if the original version sounded better than the DB version because the DB version has a lot of bass to it

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  Місяць тому

      I haven't tried the SM7DB yet, but I've heard good things and would love to test it out in future videos to compare the sound quality and usability of the original version!

    I relate heavily to what you said about calling sports. I was doing radio play-by-play during the Oregon 6A Girls Basketball State Championships a few weeks ago and I didn't have very much space at the scorers table for all of my gear (laptop, ipad, Rodecaster Pro, crowd mic, game roster, card reads...). It would have been very useful to have my laptop in the media room recording over the network so that I could have more space! Brilliant feature for sure! By the way - the team that I was broadcasting DID win the state tournament! What a way to end my second season on the call!
    For my mic at home I have a Shure MV7 for the simple reason that it's a hybrid XLR/USB mic. Who knows when I would need to use it on the road. I have looked that the pod mic which would go very well with my Rodecaster Pro but haven't bought any yet. Now that I see that stand I may just go ahead and pull the trigger - especially since the mic is carried at Target and I get the extra 5% off with the RedCard. Thanks for the good info, MIKE!

      Thank you for sharing your experience and insights, Tom! It's great to hear about your successful broadcast setup and how you're considering upgrading with the Shure MV7 mic and possibly the PodMic - that Target discount is a nice perk! Good luck with your future broadcasts!

      Please, keep AI away from hardcore Adult content. It would negatively impact my personal life . The carpal tunnel syndrome would probably finally heal but how lonely…

    Hey Mike, thank you so much for this video. Peeerfect. I've got a question. Fubdamentally, the gear I'm after is, if possible most possible, a BATTERY powered gear I can use outdoors (to literally be able to podcast/perform lets say, Spoken word or storytelling, anywhere (for perhaps just 45min to 90min without the need of plugging the gear to any alectricity source) And I mean, all the gear. (Laptop can run on battery. Speakers (like Bose1Pro plus can also run on battery/ some mics as well and also some mixers, would kindly help me understand which models would you use in a case scenario like this? (mixer/mike/speaker)? Thank you kindly

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  Місяць тому

      Hey there! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. For a setup that's entirely battery-powered for outdoor podcasting, consider a mixer like the RODEcaster which has a battery pack accessory, microphones like the Rode Wireless GO II, and portable speakers like the JBL Charge 5. These would be great options for your mobile recording needs!

    I was in our local Best Buy a few days ago and noticed that Rode PodMic for the first time, altho they only had XLR, no USB in stock- They don't carry interfaces there and I don't have one yet, so I will look further based on your recommendations here!
    Honestly, my Blue Yeti (I know 😆😆) which I bought there at the same BB about a year or so ago works for now for these smaller projects I am currently doing...

      @@MikeRussell Hey Mike...I do have a question for you. I actually purchased a Creator XS and eventually came back to my Connect 6 because, even with a ground loop isolator, the DLZ was producing static in my headphones and I could not shake it. I may eventually go back to it but the problem may not be helped because my desk only has so much room and my devices are pretty close to each other. Did you experience the same static ground loop noises with your DLZ and if you did...were you able to eliminate them? Thanks!
