Honestly I'd say #4 is a big issue for most new people. Not because it's not known. More so people don't understand how to even do it. It's harder in OBS for most people sadly...
Do you know what kind of software can be used for removing background noise? Nvidia broadcast is great but still leaves background noise out for some reason. This is also for things like discord or recording videos when no editing is involved
@@Zynphii For me I have a shure sm7b mic so my background noise in Obs is pretty much non existent to begin with. However if your recording vocals for say a video or something. Your best route would be to use something like Audacity and its noise cancellation feature. However you'd have to look up a guide for it, since it isn't very user friendly. You could also do editing through something like Davinchi resolve 18 to remove background noise. But that's not 100% perfect but gets most of the noise removed. If your using OBS though you'd have to do some testing with your mic and figure out what settings work for you and etc. Hope this helps...
My favorite plugin for noise reduction is the Fab Filter Pro-G it doesn’t cut you out like most limiters it just gets rid of the (Ac) sound it’s my favorite way better then the FL limiter in my opinion
I'd say 5 should include too close too, because being too close made the proximity effect ruin recordings because of the extreme bass that couldn't be fixed through EQ
This is great! I like how you also mentioned just to look at some older videos. I was listening to some of my audio recorded from years past and wow, it certainly has improved. Thank you for sharing! :)

a noise gate does a good job of removing noise. most free noise gate plugins do the job, setting the threshold incredibly low will have the effect of cutting ambient noise
Thank you. The task of buckling down and trying to learn how to do it right seems daunting but this vid made it easier. God bless and Peace of Christ 🕊️🎉
Thanks, bought a mic and couldn't tell if I'm supposed to talk into the top or the side. Manual didn't say anything and condensors look identical to dynamics
The best way to know where to speak into the mic, rather than assuming, is to read the mic info. Either read the paperwork that came with your mic or consult your uncle Google and he’ll tell you. #4 is commonly called a “noise gate”
Weird question but why does voices always sound 10x better when singing in an echoey parking garage, bathroom, or hallway and is there any microphone that give that same effect?
This is THEE MOST UNDERATED video I've ever seen!!! Brother you did a phenomenal favor for every person who viewed this. Give credit where credit is due everyone.
The first point doesn't add up with the second. Depending on what the mic pattern is, you speak differently into the mic. It doesn't have to be top or side.
The polar pattern is not related to the address. A mic is constructed to either be side address or top address. A ribbon mic, for example, may be side address and have either cardiod or figure 8 polar patterns, but it’s still a side address mic.
DUDE! Gatekeeping in the microphone community is so real. I've been looking to get my mic sound better for a year now I've watched tons of videos on youtube. Nobody literally nobody mentioned audacity! They all mention some paid subscriptions or paid products! You're the real one for this thank you!
I have a doubt. I use a condensor mic from maoono for my videoss. Originally it removed all background noises with no filters and even had really good voice quaity. Now the voice quality isl lesser not bad just not as good as i want. Its making a hiss noise for a few videos and the voice isn't as loud as it usdd to be just a few months ago. Idk if obs settings changed or of the problem is with my mic
Hi boss I been using the rode pod mic and a behringer umc 22 for a few months now but the last few weeks it’s been really bad and has started picking up all my background noise would love if you could help
I have problems with audacity.. like my mic isn’t that expensive and I can’t hear myself (in my earphones) when I speak into the mic. like there’s delay that I cannot correct
If you’re hearing delay in your earphones it’s because you’re mixing the Input and Playback signals. When you record, only send the input mic signal to the earphones. When you want to hear what you’ve recorded, only send the Playback to the earphones. I doubt Audacity is doing that. I use Audacity too. The problem is most likely coming from the settings in Windows.
Thanks for the video. Can you reccomend a super cheap but shockingly good mice that reduces outside sounds but also stuff like breathing into the mic. I have a deep vouce but breathe heavy. Starting content videos and pod cast. All from a tablet. Not pc. Please help. Under 50.00 mic.
Under $50 is pretty tough for all of these. Does your tablet have a USB-C port? If so, the HyperX SoloCast is a good option to look at. But do keep in mind: It doesn't do amazing with breathing sounds (hard to find good plosive rejection under $50. However, it's a condenser so you can position it slightly away from your mouth and you can speak at it from an angle so it doesn't pick them up. 2. For like $15 more you can get a cheap boom arm with a pop filter to improve the sound even more.
Well in a way, there really are multiple mics inside the Blue Yeti. 3 condenser capsules actually. So it will utilize multiple to separate your sound like that.
Im currently using BandLab and their denoise option 3 times to get the white noise out of my audio. Is audacity better with noise reduction? I sound a little robotic or pixelated.
I just added noise suppression in obs but it doesn't seem like its working , do i need to plug my mic in the back of my graphics card ? i have a usb mic
how do you apply the noise reduction filter in obs? i use nvidia broadcast but its a resource hog and it also filters out too much of my voice, even on the lowest settings.
Click your mic source, then click filters (above sources and next to properties). Click the "+" on the bottom and add RNNoise. The one that uses higher CPU is better, but it barely has any performance impact at all.

Either you are speaking off axis, meaning to the side or behind the capsule, or your gain is too low. Depending on your mic and what it’s plugged into you may have to increase the gain.
I recommend that you don’t get reverb that way because you cannot control it and you won’t be able to correct it in EQ. EQ your vocal track after you’ve recorded it that way will make it sound worse. It’s better to record it as dry as possible and add effects later. There are a multitude of ways you can do that. Free software is available to do it too.
It depends on the mic but for whichever mic you're using, assuming you're purchasing it new, the instructions on how to use it will come with it. If buying used, just try to buy something you can identify the name of so you can look up how best to use it.

Try to find a noise gate that you can adjust. The noise gate shouldn’t be so sensitive that it cuts off your voice when the volume lowers a bit.
