- Being able to transfer from sitting to standing is a huge milestone in stroke recovery and a necessary foundation for so many other movements including walking. Today, we’ll go through 2 sets of 4 exercises to help you achieve this milestone. You’ll need a study pair of shoes and a chair with arms.

Boy… I remember going to those same exercises. And the first time my OT made me stand up without holding onto anything just sit to stand; I didn’t think I can do it. But with practice it finally became easier 😊

Sitting down with control is another challenging thing about this exercise...but practicing regularly will make it better i'm sure ☺

Any tips for people who have no movement or use of one arm? My husband is still affected on his right arm and leg but would love to give him ideas for working on sit to stands. He can do some weight bearing on the right leg.
As my Dad gone through hemorrigic stroke due to hypertension and due to that he got paralyzed the right side of hand and leg , meanwhile the ongoing rehabilitation has been done in hospital for more than 3 and half months .He now able to stand and sit with a help from one definitely in the family. as my doubt was his right hand had now moment till date but had pain & sensation and the right limb has the moment coming out ,how to get the right hand a small moment, as the first surgery was completed was more than 4 months.

It is EASY using an armchair. Try this from my bed , 35 cm from the floor.....
