i live in santa rosa (right outside) and its still raining buckets. like, i opened the door to go to the mailbox, and realized (its about 40 feet away) i can wait lol. i feel damp just sitting inside. our parking lot, all the cars are sitting in almost two feet of water. i tried to clear the drain last night with a rake, no help AT ALL. the wind pushed me down cuz i had no balance and ended up sitting in almost 2 feet of water and just crying. i can laugh at it now, but it was defeating to say the least. 7 years ago our whole county burned down in the tubbs fire, now this.
This is WHY the soil is so good. This is a NORMAL west coast winter storm. Without these monsoon like events we live in a DESERT.. We know it's winter here when it turns GREEN.
All the people from the major ca cities say northern california and socal doesnt get any good rain and it makes me mad, big rains are common in ca but most only skim the bay area, hitting north of the bay area sonoma and northward
Floods and fires are why California has the most class 1 soil in the world. Capable of going over 450 agricultural commodities. (geography doesn’t care about politics)
I'm about 90 minutes north of this. Fortunately things started dry enough that we are not seeing any significant flooding yet. But the seasonal drainages are raging, and low areas are definitely starting to fill up.
Is this the vineyards off River Road? Reminds me of the floods of Christmas 2005, when i lived out in Rio Nido. Tho I cant imagine the Russian jumping its banks that quick. Crazy
The Grapes are all picked & were processed many many weeks ago. The vines are very flood-resistant, the trellis too. All will be just fine😊 The trouble is flooded homes, vehicles & equipment sheds. Also wine storage areas and vinyard tourist stuff. Lots to clean up!
Many shots are of The Laguna de Santa Rosa, which fills every year, that doesn't mean there's not some flooding in the area, but the shots of the Laguna are misleading. People planting vineyards in the Laguna are doing so knowing that it's most likely going to fill with water at some point/s every year. Also, the Russian river floods periodically as well.
Def a bad start to the season... i lived in a vineyard in an airstream 1/4 mile from Sluser Rd and River Rd for a few years... this is shaping up bad... usually happens in January
4.5 inches in the last 24 hrs & still going steadily. We do need it though & now no fire worries for the season. These past few yrs will do wonders for the salmon population.
I'm seeing the flooding around the vineyard, I used to work around them 😁😁 in Temecula,CA and I hope them 😁 they could be getting through the heavy rain ☔☔☔. This is Andrew Hahn from Perris,CA Nov 22,2024 2:10 pm. Please peace be until meet again.
Stay warm for us down there Andrew, and we'll drain off the grapes for you come springtime up here. Used to live Phelen, had family in Hemet, and work/play in Temecula... still miss hiking those hills something fierce.
Well....that's why they call it a "FLOOD PLAIN" because it floods. if you build there, youre going to be under water sooner or later so don't complain "somebody should have prevented this! I'll sue! You made the choice yourself!
Award Winning ... Thank You

Sometimes all we can do is laugh or cry, and wait it out. The storms will pass. Hang in there!
Yet people still support Newsom
@@ToddDunningwhat's Newsom got to do with the weather?
@@ToddDunningWhat or howcan Newsom to control rain or fires. At least his standing up to tRump the convicted felon who will take some ur rights away
Awe,thnx for sharing.❤
Magnificant Photography. God Bless.
I went for a nice drive around rural Sonoma County the other day because of the road closures. It was a nice drive

Doesn't that flooding destroy the crops?
@@mizzmoze1103 the plants are already dormant. they will grow strong in the spring. the vine that survives that will make for GREAT wine.

This is not a normal winter storm, as evidence by the records broken.
No. As long as erosion and gullying doesn't occur, grapevines do just fine in floods.
Much better than drought and water rationing. Back to green lawns.
Remove your lawn and grow native plants instead.

That’s right. Forest fires leave behind potash a natural fertilizer

Wow. Will this ruin the crop? I’m from the Midwest so I only know about corn lol
Grape vines are very hardy, flood like this wont bother them at all

Where in Santa Rosa is this exactly?
What kind of drone are you flying? Are you using a "wet suit" for it? Your video has given me some courage into flying in the rain.

Better wine underwater than food.
That food was Sourhwest Virginia and WNC after Helene, just before harvest...
That wine puts people to work. Puts $$in pockets so people can buy food.
Just a different perspective
Send some to Arizona
Are roads ok to Sacramento from Mendocino

I was evacuated. Buildings are underwater.
Grand cru !!!
I wonder how those 1 million dollar homes are holding up all that flood.
Don't ya just love California
Back in the 70s, when there was a yellow glow from the Sun King.
Slusser and Laughlin flood every time it rains!
so let's raise the price for wine already on the shelf?
Seeding the ⛅️ 😢
Welcome to pluto in Aquarius. More to come, I promise you.
Welcome to geo-engineering and weather warfare.

It’s called rain. Unplug the gutters you guys covered for the news story.
Save Newsomes vineyard at all cost.......California Mandate
🙄
WOW!! It is happening all over the world and it is just beginning. It is going to get worse for everyone, EVERYWHERE!!!!
It's a rather normal winter occurrence for Santa Rosa and the Russian River area. Don't get too alarmed over it.
Oh stop being dramatic, these storms are normal all over the world!
this is normal (not saying climate change doesnt exist or anything), but this is normal
