    When I was a kid, my mom would never let us have sugar or any junk food. She would cook and we sat down to eat together. We also had to eat everything on our dinner plate, which included vegetables. I was NEVER sick or overweight.

      I’ve experienced this on keto, with all my friends, family, coworkers getting sick, but not me. I believe that sugar is basically eliminated by the immune system, which makes one susceptible to infection while it’s busy trying to prevent blindness, etc. from the excess sugar.

    Lifetime Sugar Addiction had to be conquered before I could successfully intermittently fast. That took many years, beginning with eliminating Coke, then eliminating other sugary beverages, even orange juice, then replacing all sugary fruit juices with RO water at room temperature. Then I learned to identify and eliminate added sugar Refined Foods. Then after much struggle I gave up candy, then all refined sugar and refined flour products. Now intermittent fasting is a breeze. I can achieve any weight / BMI I desire to be at any time with intermittent fasting.

      He's not. He creates insulin resistance and awful blood fat numbers with this "diet"...this diet he's suggesting increases fat in cells, and it's intramyocellular fat that stops glucose metabolism from functioning correctly.
      Also, in another interview, he suggests just using statins for people who get high LDL and blood fats from this diet.
      Eat mostly non-processed plant foods. Avoid any processed oils. That's how to cure insulin resistance.
      This dude is also just misinterpreting science and throwing out terms like "dopamine" but then actually referring to leptin and grehelin but doesn't even know those terms.

    I am Polish, I chose to make my sour kraut with organic ingredients and I have been cancer free for 15 years, sour kraut and fermented vegetables have more pre and probiotics than any store bought capsule. Thank you for saying it, when they come here, they stop eating sour kraut. We all need to go back to cooking at home and using einkorn flour, fermenting foods, preserving our own tomatoes and vegetables, all the boxed and canned foods in the stores are killing us. The reason they start getting cancer when they come to America, is because they switch from the wholesome, natural, nutrient rich foods they eat in EU, to the SAD diet. The fast food, the processed foods, the quick to heat in the microwave foods and that is making everyone sick in our United States. Watch "GMO revealed", or "GMO people as lab rats". The quality of ingredients you chose for cooking and baking, and even preserving, plays a key role. I love making my own treats and wonderful colorful dishes, at least I know I use high quality vegetables, spices and everything else.

      Better yet....stop eating cooked, devitalized foods that have no enzymes. A raw, vegan, grain free diet is most appropriate for the human anatomy and physiology.

    • @bernadettefern
      @bernadettefern 3 роки тому +1

      @@elizabethwilk9615 Cooking whether at home or elsewhere is not important. Heating enzymes beyond around 109*F begins to destroy them. Without enzymes in foods we deplete our own metabolic enzymes. Once we become deficient we may cause nutrient deficiencies as well as create toxicities. High heating, especially of animal products and fats (grilling, frying, roasting, barbecuing) is cancer inducing whether it is done at home or elsewhere. Fresh, raw, grain free diets are the most suitable for human anatomy and physiology anyway. Cancer can be totally prevented.

    Most of Dr. Hyman is saying make a lot of sense
    I was helped by a very healthy metabolism. It did help until I hit menopause, after, I started to gain weight, mostly belly fat. I never followed a diet, and even though my doctor says that I'm not overweight, I know she is wrong.
    This past year, during the pandemic, I gained about 5 lbs, now I desperately needs to lose 15 lbs. I'm an European immigrant, my diet is fairly good, and I don't crave for sugars, yet at 77, I find very difficult to lose the weight. HELP!

      Same happened me during menopause. I cut out seed oils bread pasta rice potatoes. I ate live plain yogurt 2 rye crispbreads a day chicken pork alaskan salmon pure liver pate veg like broccolli spinach peppers tomatoes onions garlic ate mainly stir frys with olive oil or lard or coconut oil ate chilli con carne home made ate blue berries walnuts brazil nuts hazelnuts 2 ltrs still water. Used grass fed cows milk butter. Salads with olive oil n lemon or a little cider vinegar. Lost all excess fat in 10 t 14 days ie 14.5 pounds. Just walked 10 mins 3 times a day.

      From the keto groups they say half salt(the actual name called half salt) it contains potassium and magnesium more then regular salt. A half a teaspoon or teaspoon in a cup of water and that should give you the electrolyte your missing. But please look that up. I’m just going by what I read a while back.

    Please address Thyroid Disease on your next program in June plus my husband is Type 2 diabetic and refuses to try KETO. Makes it hard to cook for one. He eats tons of cookies & candy, relies on upping insulin shots. I found ten pounds of Hot Tamale Candy in his desk drawer at our downtown office; I work from home. KETO worked fast for me. About 55 lbs in 6 months painlessly. I do cheat now & then & feel fatigued. Is it thyroid or the wheat or corn?

    I agree sugar and sweets are habit forming and can turn into dependency, but the withdrawal is not as bad as alcohol and drugs. When I quit sugar, most of the day I was fine until late afternoon night when I normally would start snacking on sugar, the behavior of eating it and than missing it was more than physical symptoms. I do feel better overall not having it. The similarities with drug addiction and alcohol addiction and habits is not going into boredom , overwhelm and tiredness. I agree healing the brain with nutrition and supplements, and keep active in healthy ways. A 12 step program for sugar? Idk if one exists, but habits form and the psychological effects from addiction needs to be addressed for any long term success. Even then a relapse can happen. An alcoholic stays away from bars, sugar addicts got it hard, every party has dessert after dinner birthdays bakery hidden sugars in most restaurant food when you think not having bread and dessert. Very difficult. I like all these videos on the subject, helps to reinforce not having a cookie or 5 at night .
