Why is Paul and Gene always "Bashing" their former band-mates? You don't see this with AC/DC or The Rolling Stones? Unreal. It's time to move on here Gene and Paul!
Why is it that fans are often ”bashing” two of the current band members? You dont see that in AC/DC or the Rolling Stones either. Line ups change.. Time to move on. Personally i’m greatful for what all members of the band, former and current contributed. I get to listen to some great music from them, both from within and without the band. 🎸🎶
You don't see this with the Rolling Stones? Did you seriously just say that? And what AC DC lineup changes are you referring to? The one? When someone dies it doesn't count the same as getting kicked out or quitting.
Controversy sells and Gene and Paul will say and do anything for a buck. Big kiss fan here, but it's the truth. Leave it to Gene and Paul to keep the Jewish stereotype alive. BTW Paul is the boss. What Paul says goes even though Gene is the bigger mouth.
I'm not defending Vinnie or Gene... Gene allowed Vinnie to appear at one of his Vault Experiences. Vinny played his guitar and Gene left him to mingle and stuff ( maybe give out the vaults that the fans ordered). It's on UA-cam.
@@dr.roberts4508 That's what Vinnie said - whether or not the yarn he's spinning is actually true, we'll never know. Personally, I don't believe it for a second.

@@b.scottfarthingsworth Thank you , sir ! I enjoy making people laugh. If I can do that and insult Gene Simmons at the same time, then I feel that I have accomplished something!!! 🤪
I just always saw it as a flawed, but ultimately symbiotic relationship. Vinnie was undoubtedly a very talented songwriter. But it’s debatable as to whether that talent would have come to the fore without a band such as Kiss providing him with an opportunity to showcase those talents. Vinnie & Kiss, a promising marriage, but one that was seemingly doomed to fail.
I only saw KISS once back in the day (82 or 83), and it just happened to be when Vinnie was with them. I recently ran across Paul's book on Kindle. He mentions the L.A. show that I saw, and how Vinnie played so much bullshit during his solo that people were leaving to get something to eat etc. Then Gene and Paul finally couldn't take anymore, and they just came out on stage and pulled the plug on the jerkoff. I had forgotten those details, but Paul hit it right on the head in his book, and it was all exactly what I witnessed, and exactly how I felt at the time. Paul even talk about what a stupid idea the "Ank" was... At the time, I was like "who the F is this guy, and what the F is he wearing?". I'd never want to see that guy again
@@thecollector4332 Actually, I'm sure Paul took the blame for that... I should have said "his own stupid idea". He said something to the effect of "WTF was I thinking?"...
so what , I saw Zakk Wylde open a show with a 10 minute unaccompanied guitar solo and bent a string 4x , who cares . Vinnie was a great guitarist songwriter, but his personality did not vibe with Kiss
Vinnie Vincent was an incredibly talented guitarist and songwriter. He very well might be the greatest musically and re songwriting. It's safe to say that without him, KISS wouldn't have come back in the 80s. Lick It Up returned the band to relevancy and Paul took it from there throughout the mid 80s. Vincent returned for Revenge in songwriting capacity, which was arguably KISS's best album. The band at the time was certainly the most talented: Simmons actually played bass for the first time in over a decade, Stanley was at the top of his game with his guitar work and vocals, Kulick was terrific on lead guitar, and Singer fantastic on drums. May Eric Carr R.I.P., but not even he could really hold a candle to Singer. Criss certainly couldn't, not even on his best day and Singer's worst. Still, that album wouldn't have been what it was without Vincent. Thus, Vincent's talent then can't be denied. Neither could his mental state or professional instability.
^ fanboy of Aunt Vinessa. And the title song Lick It Up, only hit #66 on the charts, it didn't save them. Neither did the following albums that all petered out. What saved them was putting the makeup back on and coming around again with Peter and Ace.
@@b.scottfarthingsworth That's asinine. It's universally recognized what saved KISS was Lick It up and namely taking off the make-up. That made KISS relevant for the most successful Hard Rock musical decade in history (the 80s). Hard Rock and Metal, btw, have never been about hit songs. They're about album sales and concerts. Oh and FYI, Lick It Up, Animalize, Crazy Nights, and Smashes, Thrashes, & Hits went Platinum (Smashes 2X Platinum) while Asylum, Hot In The Shade, and Revenge went Gold. That's hardly petering out. Moreover, the band didn't need saving when it put the make-up back on, but it put the make-up back on and went back to the original (musically inferior) line-up because Gene and Paul realized how much of a cash-grab it would be. They were only partially correct. The make-up move resulted in more concert ticket sales but not more album sales. To this day, Psycho Circus is Gold certified, not Platinum. That disappointment's one reason KISS didn't do another studio album until Sonic Boom ELEVEN years later. If anything, bringing back the original lineup very nearly ruined KISS.
@@eclecticx yes to the make-up removal, no to VV having anything to do with it. They didn't even crack the top 20, I googled it for twenty minutes, and I can't find if they even made the top 50. But they floundered through the 80s and 90s. They started writing good music again, but they really were irrelevant until they returned to the original lineup and makeup. I'm a fan, and I was probably in the KISS Army before you were born, so I lived it as a fan and a musician in NYC. y friend auditioned for them before VV got in, He was offered the gig, then they found out he was 17. and they then had said no.
Kiss was only moderately successful in the 80s. Interest in the band got a little boost that lasted for the Animalize tour, but after that it was down down down. Nobody cared that much about Kiss in the latter half of the 80s.

Well I won’t knock vinnie for his part at putting new life into kiss when they desperately needed a good guitarist and co writer. Lick it up album was the life preserver for this band and lot of credit goes to vinnie on that. But after their falling out we all know vinnie has done some messed up stuff. Some im sure we never heard bout with kiss and fans. He’s backed out of lots of promises he promoted and cancelled shows. Granted he’s had personal issues/ conflicts within himself but he pissed off lot of fans over the yrs . That’s the truth. But he will def be remembered for his contribution to kiss , he played great for them despite his own undoing.
Playing great doesn't make the songs great. Lick It Up never rates high on fans favorite KISS albums. Vinnie was a footnote in the KISS tale. But his eight fans still swear he saved KISS. Too bad they only have two album's to supposably prove their point.
@@surfsup5757 wow. Your a real smart ass. Huh. First off lick it up sold lot of albums when they were slumping downward. Personally I think the album was good. I’ve been a kiss fan since 78. Who cares what decisions Kiss makes? They have been a caricature of themselves since Dynasty. Yeah, Vinny was part of two great albums, but Kiss will always be known by the masses as Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace and the greatness that ended with Love Gun.
For once, I agree with Paul and Gene on this. If he is the only one the door is not open to, that says something, considering their bad blood with Ace and Peter.
Vinnie was, WAS, once a very gifted guitarist. Now... He's an unpredictable mental case and has generated enough bad blood to flood the Amazon basin. Bringing back Ace & Peter makes sense as they were founding members. Yeah, they were, at times, pains in the rump but they were FOUNDING MEMBERS. I saw KISS with Vinnie twice and he was kicking it. But that was 35 years ago.
Nathan: Oh, absolutely they have but they're driving the bus so they get to choose the passengers. Remember when Gene tried to patent the "devil horns" hand gesture? I was like "C'MON, MAN!".
So sad. One of the most often touted pieces of advice from people who are successful in any business, not just entertainment, is be easy to work with. It’s not just the KISS guys saying Vinnie is douche..
Gene and Paul are very protective of Tommy and Eric, they wouldn't want to bruise their ego or upset them by having someone who is in his own character perform on stage
First song on Lick It Up: "There were just some things that Vinnie couldn’t play. His sensibility was often too melodic for the band’s style. Vinnie was always struggling to find his place within Kiss, both musically and personally. As I recall we brought Rick Derringer in to take a pass. Moments like this were difficult for Vinnie, but the attitude all of us maintained was that the quality of the record would always be a the priority rather than anybody’s ego" Now I'll brace myself for the fanboy attack defending Aunt Vinessa lol
Vinnie had the opportunity of a lifetime when he played with kiss he fucked that up then gets his own band highlighting his name and he fucked that up Vinnie is his own worst enemy he has serious issues going on in his head until he deals with those issues he will never become the musician that the members of kiss are
I guess there are a lot more personal reasons for Paul and Gene than we, the fans, will ever know. Sometimes I wonder what happend during the recording and following tour of Lick it up. But I guess thats privat and confidential.
According to Paul and Gene's book, Vinnie was a royal pain in the ass. He refused to sign his contract. Paul almost punched him onstage when Vinnie chastised him for interrupting his too long guitar solo. Paul also accused him for stealing things from KISS' storage loft. Vinnie's shady behavior outshined his talent.
In my opinion I'm glad they're not gonna allow him even on stage & yeah he's a good guitarist I mean come on! He wouldn't have been there if he wasn't but even with as good as he was he'll never be able to even hold Bruce Kulick's guitar pick. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of all the era's but yeah Vinnie kinda did this to himself especially seeing as he's sued them quite a few times. So yeah I'm ready to celebrate & I'd love to see something similar to unplugged because it was awesome!! Who knows what may happen but as for me I'm certainly always gonna be a fan no matter what 🤩
A Grand !! Are they freaking out there minds, plus half the show would probably lip-synct for obvious reasons giving there age, and its Not the first time Paul and the band has been caught playing to a backing-tracks, and the phenomena is not new, a lot of bands do that when they come up in age and do shows especially for the more demanding parts of songs and so fourth but at least those bands are honest about it, unlike Kiss, and judging by their track record alone, I'd say that there's gonna be backing-tracks and lip-syncing to some extent, and especially considering there will not be a live show in that way with 15-20 thousand people, its a linked one. And charging people up to that amount of money is outrages in my opinion, no matter how many bombs they have on stage or how long the stream is.
The Vault wasn't KISS that was a Gene thing. Gene will do ANYTHING to get paid. If it meant putting up with Vinnie for an hour or two, so be it. A KISS show/tour is a different story. That would involve mutliple rehearsals and deeper interactions with Vinnie that require working together and relying on the guy to do his part and follow through. That trust bridge has been burned to the ground and the KISS organization would rather not deal with a problematic, sue happy, ex-employee.

The lawsuits are part of their history. So Vinny lost them all. Nothing illegal or immoral. If the lawsuits are wrong, meaning illegal or something, Kiss can surely take action. Vinny "worked" for Kiss. Any person has the right to sue an employer. As ugly as it is, it is not wrong. Also, if Gene does not want to get sued again, that is a very very valid point. There are many legal safeguards that can protect Kiss. I 100% understand where Gene is coming from. My point is that he needs to look past the ugliness of the lawsuits and at the entirety of Kiss. Why decide to intentionally keep something great from the fans and the end of their AMAZING legacy? Vinny will not be there because Paul and Gene want him there, he will be there because people that support Kiss want him there. Does Vinny deserve to come back for a few spots? No, not in my opinion "if" I was in Paul and Gene's position. I agree with their points. Should Vinny come back? Yes, because the people that are Kiss fans want him there. Also, it will make the final tour that more special. Vinny needs to step up and face that his lawsuits really hurt the band and his relationship to it. He needs to find some lawyers that can protect him from whatever wrong he somehow thinks was done unto him and offer to sign any contract prohibiting from being sued, and require him to pay dearly if he does decide to sue again and lose. This is business.
Vinnie WAS being under-paid from the get-go. So was Eric Carr. Not in Brazil, they didn't! *Creatures...* went Gold here in the States, since then. And *Lick It Up* became Kiss' first Gold album here since *Unmasked*.
Vinnie never signed his contract because they were only paying him $550 per week, and screwed him on royalties even though he made a huge contribution to their survival and success in the 80's. Vinnie just wanted to provide a house for his family and just wanted a nicer car... Gene and Paul are worth 300 million combined now off the back of people who kept them alive. Vinnie had every right to sue them.
I am a big Kiss fan and willing to see them for who/what they are. The band is only a tribute band much like bar bands who form tributes to their favorite group. Not sure why any fans are attending their shows now. I will not play that amount unless Ace and Peter are there. It seems Gene contributes nothing to the band except live shows and of course expecting a paycheck from the fans. Possibly....Paul doesn't want Ace and Peter due to their immense popularity even out of the band. We fans want Ace and Peter back. Paul's ego evidently can not handle having to share the stage and the fact they have a large fan base. When he is questioned about them returning he replies with some lame political correct b.s. answer. Evidently the band is really all about Paul and his delicate little ego....screw us fans. Gene is correct but Vinnie is having way to many issues to do anything now. I wish Vinnie the best and want him to get better but i think he should be loved as one of the family just do not ask very much of them.
The one thing I have not seen, as of yet is........ after 20 years out of the spot light ; Can Vinnie even shred, or play his guitar like he did when he was in KISS. Vinnie has a future. But it will never be back with KISS. He burned that bridge.
Vinnie didn't write Beth, I Was Made For Lovin' You, Forever or Crazy Nights. Those are Kiss's biggest hits - regardless of whether or not you like them.

Why is Paul and Gene always "Bashing" their former band-mates? You don't see this with AC/DC or The Rolling Stones? Unreal. It's time to move on here Gene and Paul!
Hard to "move on" from past members when they are constantly asked questions about past members in interviews. Just saying...
@Frank Terranova only 15 lol
That was a Gene thing. This is a Kiss thing. Paul has the final say on all things Kiss. He said no.
Vinnie almost stood Gene up at Nashville

Vinny/Vicky ran out of cash halfway through the surgery.
Creatures of the night, 3/4 of that album is bad ass, Young and wasted, and Vinny wrote Not for the innocent, and that's still my favorite none original Kiss tune, he also wrote unholy. and that was the hardest and darkest tune on revenge.

Paul is right im every way they don't need the headache in kiss
f'ing awesome/hilarious thumbnail on this. I have to give credit where credit is due. Paul would be happy and approve.
Paul was the one that designed vinnie’s makeup and persona. He’s not one to talk.
@@thecollector4332
Actually, I'm sure Paul took the blame for that... I should have said "his own stupid idea".
He said something to the effect of "WTF was I thinking?"...
At least Vinnie went with an original character.
so what , I saw Zakk Wylde open a show with a 10 minute unaccompanied guitar solo and bent a string 4x , who cares .
Vinnie was a great guitarist songwriter, but his personality did not vibe with Kiss
Maybe if someone writes them a big fat check
@@krisfx1976 Not at all. In and out of KISS, he has given plenty of evidence to support that.
Kiss was only moderately successful in the 80s. Interest in the band got a little boost that lasted for the Animalize tour, but after that it was down down down. Nobody cared that much about Kiss in the latter half of the 80s.
I wouldn't either. She has continually sued Kiss to try and finish her transition.

Hel-lo? He's been doing his in-person events for his fans for more than a year now!
Back in the day, yeah he was fast but sloppy af. Saw him recently on video and it seems he can barely play.
I’m not a vinnie fan as you put it. I’m giving him credit where he is due. He co wrote not just lick it up but others on the album. But I suppose your an elder album fan from sounds of it. The original 4 members are the true kiss hands down. Although Eric carr was great drummer in place of Peter. I still think they aren’t fully kiss without ace & Peter . Shoulda called the band kiss 2 or something. But everyone is entitled to their opinion, vinnie is washed up clearly. Has issues. But even the best critics give him credit for his work on those two albums and yes it did sell a lot and put kiss back into the music mainstream. And it out sold.
I think Paul & Gene have generated a lot of bad blood, too & not just with Vinnie!
Nathan: Oh, absolutely they have but they're driving the bus so they get to choose the passengers.
Remember when Gene tried to patent the "devil horns" hand gesture?

I bet if Vinnie was to slip Gene a $100 bill Gene would welcome him with open arms.
Vinnie's Italian-American, too.
He could slip him something but it wouldn't involve cash...
Only $100?
Gene and Paul are very protective of Tommy and Eric, they wouldn't want to bruise their ego or upset them by having someone who is in his own character perform on stage
First song on Lick It Up:
"There were just some things that Vinnie couldn’t play. His sensibility was often too melodic for the band’s style. Vinnie was always struggling to find his place within Kiss, both musically and personally. As I recall we brought Rick Derringer in to take a pass. Moments like this were difficult for Vinnie, but the attitude all of us maintained was that the quality of the record would always be a the priority rather than anybody’s ego"
Now I'll brace myself for the fanboy attack defending Aunt Vinessa lol
VV saved them when people couldn't care less. He was a real songwriter and super talented guitarist. No room for that in this company.
Wasn't Vinnie on one of the kiss kruise's? If Paul has the final say why was Vinnie on that big boat? Lol

@Stanley Broniszewski No prob.
@Craig @Surfs Up bullshit...gene & paul sucks !!

Was, Foxy, was.
He, or she, it’s up for debate, can hardly play the guitar anymore, les alone compose.
So is Michael Jackson but he had boys sleep in his bed!
Vinnie can play a helluva A chord now
Does he lip-sync, too?
I can't argue with Gene not wanting Vinnie onstage, but if he felt that way, why use him on the "Vault Tour" ?
The Vault wasn't KISS that was a Gene thing. Gene will do ANYTHING to get paid. If it meant putting up with Vinnie for an hour or two, so be it. A KISS show/tour is a different story. That would involve mutliple rehearsals and deeper interactions with Vinnie that require working together and relying on the guy to do his part and follow through. That trust bridge has been burned to the ground and the KISS organization would rather not deal with a problematic, sue happy, ex-employee.
@georgecc No, they wouldn't. They'd rather keep as much money as they can for themselves--and maybe still ask Vinnie for help once in a while.

This is business.

as for the rest of em
i don't even recognize them as band members of kiss
and i don't even care to know their names because they are irrelevant.
Wrong.
