- My Dad hired a video recorder to tape this off the tv in 1980. We are huge Newley fans and have finally managed to take it off the vhs to upload here! Enjoy! This is one of my favourite ever live performances…of anyone!!!

He was magnificent! I went to all his concerts in New York and Fl and took my children and he always throw candy to my children. Loved him and still do.

Anthony Newley. What an incredible voice. The way he sustained great lengths of phrase on a single breath was truly matchless. And such power in his tone. I'm awestruck every time I hear him sing. This is a wonderful piece of history. Thanks for this post.

When I was very young at 12 years old singing my Karen Carpenter songs privately in my bedroom I discovered a new kind of expression when I first heard Anthony emote. He gave me permission to go there and really express the song from my heart and soul. I can see how he influenced you Debbie it's very clear. 🌹
I saw him in Stop The World I Want To Get Off. He was a good actor & singer. I used to have his 45's too. Thank you for posting this, Debbie.
Never lucky enough to see him in Stop the World I want to get off, but it's one of my favourite show recordings. I grew up watching him in Doctor Doolitle. Always one of my favourite singers

He’s a consummate performer. So much Bowie 2:00. Yes I know Bowie was inspired by him and not vice versa.
