The amount of people commenting that this or that type of mouse is better are not really getting it. You don't use this INSTEAD of a mouse - you use it WITH a mouse; using the 3D controller with the left hand and your mouse with the right as usual. Stops you needing to use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom and pan about within the drawing. Also, once the buttons are set up as you want, it reduces the need to move your hands to the keyboard.
Had an old Space Explorer until it stopped working with Windows 10 and recently got a SpaceMouse Pro from Ebay (a lot cheaper!). Awesome piece of kit, but I agree that it takes some getting used to.

    • @WildMike1234

@@MassimoMerolla-mm4rf mouse wheels are okay but the constant rolling up and down can lead to strain. Particularly if, like me, you suffer from RSI. The 'puck' used to zoom on the 3D controller is far more intuitive, much quicker and can be used in unison with another command. I've been using one for many years now and I wouldn't be without it.

Myself and several of my coworkers just got a bunch of these, and while there is certainly a learning curve, it is AMAZING once you get used to it. Two of my coworkers don’t really use them, since they never got the hang of it, and are comfortable with standard pan/tilt controls. I took about an hour to start to get a feel for it, and can now confidently use it.
It’s probably not technically much faster than a keyboard and mouse in Fusion 360, but it is SO much more fun, and DEFINITELY makes CAD more enjoyable and intuitive. Maybe not an absolute necessity for mechanical design, but I imagine this would be a game-changer for more artistic applications such as 3D animation.
