I went to Westlake Boys High. In 1991 the Under 15 side came back from a tournament in Whakatane. The Senior master complained that the Wesley College Number 8 was massive and had destroyed Westlake's finest. That player was Jonah Lomu.Lomu was a wrecking ball on the field, But off the field he was a shy ,kind and humble South Auckland lad

There has been great players in the past .But this giant of a Legend stood taller than all of them .And propelled this sport to another level never seen .A once in a lifetime player of the sport .Like Usain Bolt was to Athletics. Sadly missed to this day .RIP big man and love to your family x

I saw him at Changi Airport once, my flight was delayed, he was signing autographs for at least 3 hrs. Soo humble.

I got hooked to rugby as a young lad in 1995 .It was simply because of Jonah Lomu.He was a menace on the rugby field but a shy guy behind the cameras..Gone Too Soon #RIPChamp

The True n Real "TONGAN THOR" born in raised AOTEAROA PROUD. There WILL NEVER be another devastating 6'5 Polynesian, who runs 100 metres in 10.89 secs, n slices through a whole rugby team like a hot knife through butter like Jonah for a very very long time. R.I.P Legend, Ofa atu Toko....😇👊🇳🇿👊🇹🇴👊😇

Saw him play once when he ran thru 8 or 9 Yarpies for the Blues scored under the post with 3 guys hanging on, 1996....and in the city once and my god his thighs were the biggest I had ever seen on a human...would have walked into NFL and been a star...what a legend

The videos a bit misleading. His career wasn’t over in 1996… He only had to retire at the end of 2003, while still playing in the earlier part of the year. The kidneys are supreme at compensating, that’s why people don’t realise they had kidney disease unless it’s end stage where at least 90% of the kidney function is lost. Jonah wasn’t functioning as normal until he reached close to end-stage Renate disease.
