Hey Sean, I had found a G shock watch in an airport sink in 83. I wore it all over the world, woke me up in the jungle to get back to base for muster. kept me on time, out of trouble for 5 yrs. I left it in an airport washroom!
I used to do Civil War reenactments. I loved my Remington pistol. What I loved most about it was, in mid battle, watching the face of someone trying to reload a fixed cylinder pistol as I reached behind me and easily swapped cylinders.
"Gear adrift is a gift"! That's how I got my Camillus, in the Air Force back in the 80's, as you got your watch. Simple, and keeps a pretty good edge. I need to carry mine more, I do carry the Swiss Army from your recommendation a few years back, love the larger blade, although it gets dirty looks going through security.
Yep, I got one of those Casio G-Shock squares. I custom made mine out of two of their watches, a carbon fiber titanium one and a black one with the metal clasping Casio bracelet, keeping the bracelet and the titanium base, positive face (black text on white background), and black bezel. It uses one of their Tough Solar modules with the 6 band atomic clock radio transmission syncing. Awesome freaking service watch. The people who know, know. Cheers.
I could have used the ‘58 Remington at Boy Scout age when roaming the woods, especially in the dark. Sure wish I’d had one, it would have provided some real predator insurance. One mountain lion following me left paw prints in creek mud as big as my spread hand.
The Swiss Army Knife (SAK) has been a constant companion on my belt for the past 70 years. I have had several models over the years and presently use the Victorinox Ranger 79. My other SAK's are on other belts on other pants. Boots are the Canadian Kodiak 8" top McKinney waterproof boot. Have had these since the '80's. They are starting to show their age, as am I at 85, but still a great boot. Can't comment on the firearm, as it would be next to impossible to get a pistol firearm licence here in Canada. My watch is a Casio Divers watch, they normally last me about 15 years. Great video as always. Thank you.
Love the Camille's knife. Several of my uncles and cousins had them, service bring backs from the 1960s and early 1970s. I've seen several reproductions but the quality is lacking, and an original is too expensive for everyday use. I can also remember when the G-Shock watch was all the rage, and if you weren't rocking a G-shock with your 5.11 pants and Oakely shades you couldn't sit with us. I think all the cool kids, as in tacticool, are wearing some type of smart watch now, but the G-shock and Ironman are still great watches that get the job done. Thanks for keeping it real and a great video as always.
Always enjoy your content, straight and honest,as well as straight to the point. People that don’t watch are the ones that will suffer. Anchors Away & Semper Fi
Hey Shawn, I got motivated and purchased my Victorinox RangerGrip 78 and I love it! I can't stop playing with it 😁(she said). I also added to my collection a Leatherman Signal multi-tool and a Swiss Champ. Theses are great additions to my 10 essentials. Thanks for sharing your list of favorites. Stay motivated brother!
I've had nearly 50 years of bushcraft experience both as a possum trapper and government deer culler. I watch your videos with interest and have picked up some great tips Shawn. I'm retiring in a year or so and intend camping out permanently until my health dictates otherwise. Onward.
The G-Shock is definitely an indestructible workhorse (within limits. of course). Also, the one I used to wear and that never died, the Timex Iron Man was just as good. Well, at least the ones they made back in the late 80's - early 90's. Thanks for another great video. Semper Fi!
Ah, the G-Shock. I bought one back in 83 when I first got to Okinawa, and in 2007 (!!!!), after many bands and batteries, I GAVE it, still working perfectly to a worker of mine in Iraq! He liked it (he is Iraqi and was a REALLY good worker - I was doing construction management for DoD), so I gifted it to him. I went to the PX at VBC and bought a Timex Ironman Triathlon for about $35, and it just wasn't the same. A few years ago I went back to the G-Shock. I wore several pairs of the original canvas jungle boots right off my feet! With a change of insole, as you mentioned, they were quite comfortable, even though the sole was REALLY hard. I LOVE my demo knife!!! I actually still have my original one from my active duty days (83-89)! First aid... one of my issues with the butterfly bandages (I have admittedly only tried 4 or 5 different ones) is that they don't really stick when the area around the wound is wet (whether blood or water from washing it). I have cut myself on a few occasions in the last few years that probably should have had stitches, but found that the Bandaid brand cloth knuckle bandages work really well. You "fasten" one side, pull the wound closed, and "fasten" the other side. Yes, I have small scars from the injuries, but it was a field-expedient solution to an immediate problem that I found works. I hope yours stick to the wound area. The 2A stuff I will leave to peoples' imagination and preference.
My G-Shock has been on all four deployments and every exercise I've been to over 24 years. That watch is almost indestructible. Plus, you can put a Suunto button compass on the watch band. Keep up the good work. Semper Fi!
Fantastic choice as a woods sidearm, imo. .45 Colt is no slouch and will definitely fill all your needs while camping or just outdoors, generally. I also carry the same Victorinox. It's gone up in price quite a bit, so have relegated it to my survival bag, but I loved using that thing, for all kinds of tasks
I'm a brit and my dad owns both the navy colt and the army colt!! God bless America!! This is the only way in Britain 2 shoot a pistol/revolver black powder!!keep up the great videos, all the best Deano
You have definitely put some work in on some of your overnighters I enjoy watching them . But you have to do what you have to do to keep food on the table . I am sure tips and tricks and reviews are easier on the body . Keep on keeping on
Just acquired 2 pairs of the hot weather boots - no Gore-Tex and vents! Yeah - go on a 20 mile ruck wearing 'steel toed' boots. I have a few of the Camillus knives packed into 1980s military pilot 'survival kits' - the two pack type that they supposedly carried in their flight suits. Half was a fishing kit and half was a survival kit The 1858 New Army Model black powder revolver rocks! See Eastwood's 'Pale Rider' to see the cylinder swapping in action - makes a black powder handgun formidable!
Thanks, Corporal!!! OutFNstanding!!! Really dig the “classics”! Reminds me of a fella named Josey Wales. And thanks for Survival Mastery! Enjoying all the videos and meeting of the teachers! Semper Fi, Marine
Thanks for another great video. It's sad how stupid UA-cam has gotten over certain things. I've seen lots of good channels ruined and disappear because someone's feelings got hurt or they know nothing about the subject matter and yet want to tell everyone how it should be shown or hidden.
Damn it, now I'm going to have to have one of those revolvers, how will I explain that to the wife? The 45 Colt works well and I fire some rather warm ones out of my 454 Casul revolver. I had a G-shock like the one you showed, it didn't last only ten years on my wrist which was amazing to say the least. I now have a Casio w s220 solar powered that I bought for $35.00 at Walmart on sale about 17 years ago and it is still alive because of my advancing age and the fact that I finally learned to take it off before working on anything mechanical. I think I have about thirty years on you. Love your down to earth and factual videos, good info always. Keep them coming.
Former enlisted Marine (73 to 82). The standard issue boots were ok, but not great. Years later )11 to 19) I worked as a contractor in Afghanistan. I tried several different brands of boots & I ended up staying with Belleville DES 390s. Best boots ever made.
Its awesome to see someone other than myself carrying a pistol from a bygone era, i had always wondered when viewing your channel, if you go unarmed when camping/overnighting, and i presumed that you carried a Beretta 92 or a 1911 (given your military background/ a la Paul Harrell) and though firearms comprise only a very small portion of your content, I was pleasantly surprised to see that you tote around a cap-and-ball sixgun on your outings, and as my EDC i have a Signature Series Colt 1860 Army that i carry on all of my outings here in NC. Open carry is permitted and i keep it charged with 777 and roundball for self defense, alas i have no conversion cylinder at the moment, but will likely purchase one in the future. Excellent video as per usual and take care.
I worked for a rural physician, for a while. I since learned to keep narcan to methheads and many diabetic patients. I regularly keep glucose tablets and gels in my medical bag. Not just bandaids, gauze and advanced life support stuff and I know how and have the hands on experience..
Great video, I will have to try those boots, but the red wings I have I am on my second air in 20 years, the first pair I stood in knee deep red clay mud for 3 days all day and did not clean them and they eventually dry wrought, but still got 13 years out of them wearing them almost daily before the leather split, soles were still good, I was impressed. Ranger knife is an awesome knife.
I don't camp or bushcraft but my playground and home is a 30 acre maple farm. I used to carry a big ( and bulky) fixed blade knife. It's been sitting in my shop for many years simply because I now carry a Victorinox Forester knife. Small, light, resistant and so many uses....but the saw..man ..that saw is awesome !! I don't ever leave the house without it. Take care Corporal !!
I have a lot of swiss army knives by Victorinox. But the one I always have on me, is my old Dutch army knive, made by Victorinox. I recieved it when I had to go in the Dutch army in 1986 and I still carry it. Nothing fancy, just a good little knife.
I must say I appreciate your 40 to 50 hours in the forge thank you you just might need an overnighter to relax LOL God bless you and yours and God bless the USA
Corporal AF, Shawn. Definitely a fan of my Ranger Grip. When I was a kid I had one of the stainless knives stamped USMC that was gifted to me by a family friend, who carried it when he served. Unfortunately as a teen I dropped it in the woods and never found it. 😞
G-shock for 35 years here doing homesteading (chain saw, sledge hammers, every kind of job on farm). Never a problem. I have a stainless band I got after the original band died. So 30 years with same stainless band. It says 100Meters waterproof (really?). Do not know but it went 100ft under sea water when I was scuba diving many times and no problems.
First aid: I been putting together my own first aid kits for years. Bear /Refuge Medical have outstanding gear/kit. Its not cheap but in my opinion its top tier gear. I use is. Another great vid. Thank you Sir.
For those wound closures, just get the real 3M Steri-Strips. In the short term they're as good as stitches, and there's no rachet gadget to fail on you. If you mess one up, you just peel another one off the sheet, 10 sheets to a pack.
What if games ... and the watch. You don't need hands to know where the hands on the watch face would be. A digital watch works fine to tell someone the time so that they can think of it in the form of analog hands. No problem! I wear a Casio PAW-1300, at least 17 years old now... original battery (solar recharge).
When my unit got fixed to deploy to the sandbox and we got the bellevilles, OMG. Like wearing sneakers compared to the jungle boots. And yeah, being able to run in them without killing your legs. And the insoles you could swap out. Or even boil, if you wanted to.
I have the same problem with my Casio mine is not digital but needs batteries I always go with the energizers I notice the cheap batteries fail in a month or two. Those zip-stitches are great with an open wound you want to Close and Cover within 24 hours. I carry a Victorinox "Huntsman" I like the scissors I have thought of trying those fire steel, inserts but I always have a Magnesium Bar or a rod with me Matches, Lighter. Another great Video.
I backpack and hike all over Arizona and since I have large and wide feet finding suitable footwear was difficult let alone comfy. One of coworkers at the fire department was a marine and advised me of the Belleville Boots. Purchased a pair of the 590's and it made being out beyond the three wire (public lands in Arizona are usually fenced with three strands of barbed wire) more enjoyable.
Great show Corporal! I have that same watch lol, I got it at the Fort Benning PX way back in the late 80s or early 90s, can't remember exactly, and other that a new battery every five years or so it's still ticking! Also I love that classic Pistola, that's Real Beauty Brother! Keep up the great Vids, always very entertaining and informative!
Very informative video. My family and I Really enjoyed watching It together .As always, thank you so much for your knowledge. We are looking forward to your next video. Hope you have a great day.
I have had two G shocks in 30 years, just had the battery changed in my current watch. I work as a psych nurse and this watch has seen a lot of action. I wear mine 24/7, like you I will have it on when I dirt nap.
If you ever need a replacement for that watch or retire it look at the Casio 5610. the same watch but has solar charging and multiple band 8 , auto daylight savings time and you can have the light automatic turn on by tilting your wrist. Well worth the 100 price tag
Awesome video Shawn and I don’t care what UA-cam says about you? Your an amazing instructor hands down. And definitely the master of the bow drill skills and I learned from the best and that was you in first hand experience with hands on instruction ❤
UA-cam would love to just have you making content and living in the woods for free. "Today we're sleeping in the woods again because UA-cam is making sure that I have to live here instead of making my channel livable"
If you want a back up fire starter on your SAK try the Fire Ant. Comes with tinder. Not brilliant, but doable. Wrap a little bit of gorilla tape around it (protection and flame extender). Victorinox claim you can get up to three fires (dependent on circumstances) out of one bit of the supplied tinder. Experimentally (as in yes I have tested that) that's a reasonable estimation. Not my first option, but as a last ditch option, yes it has it's place.
I have that same Army pistol setup. It works extremely well. On your recommendation I bought the ranger grip and it is truly outstanding Thanks again. Great video.
I grew up near Camillus NY, former home of that knife manufacturer. It is pronounced Ka - MILL - Us (not to nitpick). Very cool that you have one of those!!
That conversion is badass. I found out in Commiefornia it's legal to open carry black powder even for felons. But it's California I'm not trying it lol
Corporal Kelly, although I am old enough to be your Dad, I thoroughly enjoyed this video & can personally identify with several of your favorite items. Military dress shoes issued to me in1959 while in the Air Force ROTC were VERY HIGH QUALITY! I kept them polished & maintained daily. There were so comfortable that I wore them on dress occasions (both military & civilian) & in various outdoor adventures: fishing; hiking; camping; hunting. They were so comfortable & in such good shape that I wore them in my wedding in 1965. My wife of 59 years recently remarked that I used to polish them daily. Now at age 83, I am not as discip[lined. Very similar to the military issue Camillus was a utility pocket knife known as the Germasn Boker with Soligen steel which I carried from 1953 until I lost it years after my wife & I had married. It had carbon steel & was sharpened with a razor edge. My woods carry sidearm is a .44 caliber BP revolver & has an extra cylinder; hopefully, I can find a conversion cylinder like the one you illustrated. Although I am on a fixed income & anticipating major surgery, I am trying to set aside enough to subscrtibe to Survival Mastery. Thanks for some of the most realistic presentations on UA-cam! May God bless you & yours. I trust that your son is doing well.

Can't never, ever go wrong with Victorinox, Morakniv and Casio. Excellent, top-notch.
Hey Sean, I had found a G shock watch in an airport sink in 83. I wore it all over the world, woke me up in the jungle to get back to base for muster. kept me on time, out of trouble for 5 yrs. I left it in an airport washroom!
beautiful remington. good choice
I used to do Civil War reenactments.
I loved my Remington pistol.
What I loved most about it was, in mid battle, watching the face of someone trying to reload a fixed cylinder pistol as I reached behind me and easily swapped cylinders.
Corporals Corner is always the best thing to watch on a Sunday morning. It gets my brain ready for an outstanding Sunday.🤙
I enjoy hearing about the older gear that the military used. I also loved that 44cal. Another great video 👍👍👍👍
Love my Belleville boots. Great quality. ❤
"Gear adrift is a gift"! That's how I got my Camillus, in the Air Force back in the 80's, as you got your watch. Simple, and keeps a pretty good edge. That is an antique firearm that is exempt from firearm laws. Leave him alone UA-cam!
I could have used the ‘58 Remington at Boy Scout age when roaming the woods, especially in the dark. Sure wish I’d had one, it would have provided some real predator insurance. One mountain lion following me left paw prints in creek mud as big as my spread hand.
UA-cam don't care. Facebook is the same. I've had my account restricted on FB for just posting a photo of my remington
Awesome gun

Thanks Corporal

Thanks for the information on the boots and the knife. I spent a tour in Vietnam in my jungle boots rotted two times.
That is absolutely beautiful gun great choice
Great info. Thank you!
Nice, like that they did the cylinder that way
Thanks for the video....

Great video sir. Awesome back story to the watch.
Very cool conversion cylinder. May have to add that to the collection. Thanks.
That Ruger is a beauty! Great video as always Cpl.
Can't wait to see what you are coming up with next. Keep up the awesome work and God bless.
My family and I
Really enjoyed watching It together .As always, thank you so much for your knowledge. We are looking forward to your next video. Hope you have a great day.
I have had two G shocks in 30 years, just had the battery changed in my current watch. I work as a psych nurse and this watch has seen a lot of action. I wear mine 24/7, like you I will have it on when I dirt nap.
Mr,Kelly. Great video 📹 so happy with the skills you show!! Keep up the awesome work 👌
hair ties are a handy thing to have a few of in your repair kit!
Keep it up man, you don't realize how important what you do is to people who have no clue about survival. Life saving information for them. KUDOS.
I absolutely love your black powder carry. Back in the day, I had a full set of New Model Colts.
Shawn, Thank You Sir for keeping it Real .AF
And so are my sundays complet mir sir. Good video😊
Appreciate you sharing some of your favorites, and being honest about each item
Always Outstanding AF.
Nice job on video. Dam good stuff.
Love the look of the revolver!! Sweet AF!!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍🏻👍🏻
I like the direction you are going.
I just subscribed to that channel.Looking forward to the video.Thank you Keep up the good work , brother
Love the boots. I have a big hoof on me and they look like what I can actually use. Price seems a bit much but, I prefer to have happy feet. Thanks.
Love the Casio. I used to be able to see the time without glasses. lol
I have never once needed nor do I think I will ever, need to use my watch as a compass. Fantasy indeed.
I grew up near Camillus NY, former home of that knife manufacturer. It is pronounced Ka - MILL - Us (not to nitpick). Very cool that you have one of those!!
Nice list. I'm sporting a Casio ProTrek myself. Love that watch.
That conversion is badass. I found out in Commiefornia it's legal to open carry black powder even for felons. But it's California I'm not trying it lol
Quite true. Black powder carry is an option open to all. Actually they are quite fun to shoot. Hardly any recoil and can take down large game.
@@ThomasSpearman-g3y I have one. When I took it to the outdoor range everyone came up to me asking about it.
I have that same 1858 remmy in the 5 1/2" sherriff model. Love that pistol
