I beg your pardon... the American Chestnut is most certainly NOT "pretty much extinct"!! NYS, theough the Syracuse University- ESF program is now getting ready to plant native resistant American Chestnut trees, not hybrids! 🤸🏻‍♀️

It was known as "functionally extinct". Scientists in Canada have been working on breeding blight tolerant American Chestnuts, trying to prevent the "Functional Extinction" from becoming total. Apparently, they are having some success!

Yes they are extremely rare because of blight. However, scientists are trying to perfect the genetics. It currently is very rare to see one growing in the wild, very rare. My family owns hill property where wildlife does its thing, and a very rich American chestnut ecosystem during my childhood. They started dying and literally hundreds were processed for furniture and lumber.

There is a chestnut tree in the vacant plot of land next door and as my uncle and I were trying to find nuts in the burrs that had fallen to the ground one of the dogs decided that chewing on the husk with all its spines was a great idea.
No idea how he didn't get hurt.

I felt bad that no one commented on this video so ill leave you with this question. Assuming you didn't die of starvation, would you get a concussion if you infinitely fell through ping pong balls?
