I had the good fortune to see Peter with the Mac on quite a few occasions. He is without doubt the best blues guitarist the UK has ever produced and I am sure that Eric, Jimmy and Jeff would endorse that as a fact.

UK in general returned a LOT of American Blues and Rock via a crapload of bad ass guitar players in all genres from rock to blues to Fusion (John McG s'cuse me?) to surfy Hank M to Vic Flick Bond theme to Frippy Dippy - for such a small area you guys shit out a LOT of great guitar players. Just sublime ! He knew so well just when to play slow, and then play fast. A reflex, like breathing to him. That`s what making music can do to a soul. Also love his middle solo on the April 9th. 1970, BBC "In Concert" show, to "The Green Manilishi", before he switches over to the 6 string bass. Never duplicated on other recordings.

This is why our Peter, that's OUR Peter the world over, not just England, is the supreme electric blues guitarist that ever blessed our lives. The one you'd want in your band, the one who maintained his humility all through his life, yet should have been knighted.
Some are well practiced and brilliant, only the precious few rise above all with apparent ease, fly like the albatross over the sea.
So for the listeners, here's proof enough. For the guitarists, make every note count, and remember Peter Green.

Just his Les Paul plugged into his Tube Amp, no effects, gimmicks. Just his two hands to get the sounds and tone. You can't teach that, you got to have it in you. He is the most underrated guitarist. The other Bluesbreaker in that category was Mick Taylor. The two of them never got the recognition that Clapton got. I never cared for popularity contests anyway. I liked all versions of this band for the same/different reasons. Always a Phoenix quality about them. Obviously Fleetwood and McVie were both persistent, subtle and dynamic throughout. Christine PerfectMcVie is perhaps the pivotal force? Beautiful, poetic, artistic, TALENTED, session savy, stable, even-handed, patient, eye of the storm. She first got credit only for her album cover art on Kiln House, yet she was a legitimate member of the band at that point. Only time I ever swung tickets to see them turned out it was a totally bogus band thrown together by greedy promoters after a brief, unfortunate implosion. Then , they played on, indeed! Peter Green certainly was a prodigious talent. Equal in all ways to the other guitarists that shot to fame out of the blues revival of mid to late 60's London. Clapton, Beck, Page, Taylor, and Greenie. They were the anointed ones, the future of British blues. I can't exclude Danny Kirwan, because he may actually have been Green's peer, if not in pure playing ability, then in inventiveness. I am glad that they have all made it into the pages of history and the kids can listen to what they did, when they were kids. Absolute genius.....

This solo is the sun exploding and the earth being scorched, and entire nations running into the oceans with their flesh burning, and there's only a small patch of uninhabitable desert left, so what's the point of breathing anymore? I've played it five times in a row, and now everything else sounds like the aural equivalent of those little rice cake things some people eat when they don't want to taste anything and are just trying to keep from starving to death.

this was an amazing show. the following band wound up getting busted on bourbon st. the mac sat right next to us as the nopd searched all the grateful dead's equipment while they were getting bailed out of jail. dead finally took the stage about 1-2am. the flock were the opening band. jeremy spencer was really fun to watch. amazing to have had the luck to have been there and experienced this ;)

You were in the divine presence (the only church that delivers the goods) Frank Zappa... said earlier by someone on this thread . To think I lived in that very London thru the 60’s and a few blocks from the Roundhouse . Chalk Farm was the little tube station where I dashed to work each day.. lI also.taught A levels all over North London to pay rent & feed two kids. All this in my early 20’s and the mad talent & beatlemania etc swirling around me. I came for Virginia wolf and stayed for howling wolf. Just a wild Canadian girl getting her wow levels.

Peter was to blues guitar what John Coltrane was to the saxophone. There are amazing electric blues players........and then there was Peter Greenbaum, an English Jewish boy.......who'd a thought. See you at the Great Gig In the Sky.

He's not making it a contest(after all there's only one winner in that)
Danny was amazing, he really was. He felt it, he lived each note like Peter.
Peter, was (I know past tense) a once in a lifetime talent, a talent so big that it's impossible to ignore in each and every Peter Greens FM discussion.

Mr Greenbaum is underrated of course. For me the best guitarist-singer because it all came out of his soul and not just from skills-lessons and so on. Shame the BBC did not show any respect.

this is just amazing takes me to another pace. I wasn't lucky enough to see him in his prime ( born 1967) but got to see him with the splinter group all though Nigel Watson carried Peter through the concert there were moments when he came back and played like this truely amazing and I consider myself lucky to have seen the man live even though past his prime.
