This scene has always come up, just when I was finishing chopping onions...😢...
I'm glad that I'm not alone.

George had that slap coming
Arnold Johnson, also played the old man whom Michael brought home to die on an episode of Good times. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@harperstacey9604yup! A real tear jerker that episode 😢
Sure did.👋
That slap sure did shut Georgie up, didn’t it?
The acting wasn’t convincing so they resorted to theatrics
It's sure did!
Love this episode. They dont make em like buddy anymore. Back when we had dignity and respect for our elders.
What do you mean by “they”
If wasn't for Zeke/Woodrow getting drunk as usual, and running his mouth, George wouldn't have ever known anything about it.
well at least he didn't die like he did when he went to the Evans apartment.
@@1talldaddy Lol Yeah... that was the New Years Eve episode.
Arnold Johnson, who played the old man, also played Fred Sanford's friend, hutch on Sanford and son. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@harperstacey9604 Yep...he did. I also remember in his later years, him playing Mother Winslow's love interest on Family Matters.
Zeke also Ned the Whino on "Good Times".
This Touched My Heart I'm Watching This Again 😢
MY 2 ¡¡
agreed.
Mr Jefferson Did Had that slap coming you pose to respect your elders
Especially back then you get you tail whooped 🤣🤣🤣
He was disrespectful to her mother.
That how he felt in those days that’s the reason he didn’t slap him back
2:52 Before Will Smith made it cool
It was so funny how Uncle Buddy pimp-slapped Mr. Jefferson for mouthing off. 😂
Powerful episode.
Ohhhh-This must have been after Mother Jefferson had died!
Yes.
It was after her passing in real life,
and it was the only time her character’s
death was mentioned.
Maybe George was right. His mom did hide her relationship with Buddy all this time from George. And Buddy slapped him? I'm surprised George didn't beat the living daylights out of him for that.
He respected him too much, he was like a father to him. Who bests up their Dad?
@@muzikschannel4860I would!
I might get angry but if I love and respect someone like a farther figure, I could never hit them. Like my grandfather. He took me in when I was four. Raised me to good care of me. Sure he gets under my skin sometimes but I could never hit my grandfather no matter what
I Would Have
Love the show but it was a saddest episode ever since George's mother passed away when Buddy was fooling around with her years ago
He wasn’t fooling around
I'm not sure, but I think this was an episode from the season following the passing away of Mother Jefferson(Zara Cully)
I ALWAYS LUV THIS Scene Wit' Mr. Sherman Hemsley & Mr. Arnold Johnson! RIP 2 Da BOTH OF 'Em!!
That slap brought the message. To another level. Letting George know. I will not sit back! And let you dishonor your Mother like that! I loved her as well. Buddy say he tried to Marry her. Do the Right Time! Her heart even in death. Was still sold out to George's Father! You didn't want to be Married again! The episode was well written in my estimate. Given the time and situations! Very iconic scene. Even with Good Parents! Kids still feel entitled and privileged. Without Honoring their Father and Mother! The Bible aka Cheat Sheet says. You suppose to Honor your Parents with all their Sound teachings! That your days maybe long on the Earth! Because Foolishness will cut it short! Not taking precautionary steps. Has consequences! There's a Network of Good/ Evil out there! If you don't supercede the 5 senses. You are going to get JACKED. Spiritual Maturity and Discernment walk hand in hand. Dont be a Fool. Spiritual laws from God are Real. The Gift of Freedom of Choice! Comes from God as well. God wants us to choose the Right Time. The wrong things bring Death and Misery! God wants us the learn from our mistakes! Be careful of Who, What, and Where you hang around all the time! Am i ascending or descending in my life! God is Supreme to all others. The Bible puts Great emphasis on our bodies/Temples of God. A majority of our life will be there! Protect and Guard your body.
George: Hey, Uncle Buddy, can’t you stay?
Buddy: I’d love to, George.
George: Call me Georgie, will you.
Merry Christmas 🎄 George … 🥹❤️🔥✊🏼
There’s is always a mystery in departed love one’s life you always find out after they are gone.
SO true 💯
Loved the Jeffersons!!!
This was the first time in the show where it was revealed that Mother Jefferson wasn't so innocent after all.
Her and Buddy possibly had something going on when George's father was still alive.
Maybe George was right. And Buddy slapped him? I'm surprised George didn't beat the living daylights out of him.
Buddy said that he and Mother Jefferson never got it on. Zeek assumed they did. In their days, women typically didn't surrender to the man until marriage, unlike, today, where: if they're old enough, most likely, they already have.
I seriously doubt that Mother Jefferson and Buddy were messing around while George's father was alive. She seemed to be the kind of woman to hold herself to much higher standards than to do that, as most women back in the day did, plus it seems like Buddy was in love with her rather than it being mutual. I'm sure after George's father passed, she was lonely, scared, sad, and a whole host of other emotions and Buddy was there to comfort her. They probably did end up sleeping together, so he asked her to marry him rather than 'carry on' as it was called back in the old days, but she said no knowing how George would probably not take it well even though he looked up to Buddy as a father figure. Mother Jefferson never seemed innocent to me, by the way, given how much hell she gave Louise lol, but she had class and a fabulous fashion sense.
@@docdee770He stated that she didn't feel like she could remarry after George's father passed, so I hardly doubt they did anything while he was alive.....she had respect for her husband/family
@@DarlingNikki2and it seems like she could drink you under the table 😂😂😂 she was indeed a classy lady

Aunt Esther Husband Woody The Wino OFF Sanford and Son
No, your wrong. Arnold Johnson played Fred Sanford's friend, hutch. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@harperstacey9604no I think he was talking about Raymond Allen, who did portray Aunt Esther's Husband Woodrow on "Sanford And Son" and also appeared in this episode of "The Jeffersons".
Mocking God and His Heaven is totally unacceptable.
This scene in this episode of The Jeffersons is a tearjerker. Still makes me cry to this day.
Back when that REAL sh*t was on regular TV...💯

That slap was very necessary 😣🤦🏾♂️🤞🏾

George is an erratic nut and he was sprung out of control, but that man could have simply thrown cold water in George’s face, put his disrespect towards his late mother to shame and walked out for Heaven sake! Swatting him was not the right solution. This old man damn well knew George was an erratic person so that cold water in the face as I mentioned would’ve done the job for George! Any case they made up and I did see an old frail man who probably didn’t have long to live any way and he seemed sorry for his action.
Btw-that slap drama pretty much threw a damper on the whole episode! They should’ve left that out. I didn’t like it at all.
You forget! He wanted to Marry George's Mother. And take care of George at his Father's request! People talk a lot. Until they have to walk those steps! Being lonely and by yourself is a Hell of a drug! Particularly, if you don't learn how to trust God. In the process! What you need. Is usually all around you. Because you haven't activated The Law of Recognition. With God's help. YOU DON'T SEE JACK/ NOTHING! YOU ANSWER TO PRAY IS IN YOUR FACE. EVERYDAY. MOTHER JEFFERSON HAD A QUICK MOUTH. AND NO DOUBT WAS AND STILL WAS A FOX! EVEN IN HER LATTER YEARS! OH! SHE HAD TO FIGHT THEM OFF. SOME PEOPLE DON'T TAKE NO. FOR A ANSWER. YOU CAN ADMIRE SOMEONE FROM A DISTANCE. AND STILL HAVE RESPECT FOR THEM!
