It upsets me that this show is in the magical girl genre, which probably means that everything shown in this video is like 2% of the screen time, and the rest is teenage girl banter and/or them flying around with alien jetpacks and rifles
@@shaldurprime7154 Nah, it's a great show. Basically it's an alternate WW2 against weird aliens, and the protagonists are crazy witches (inspired by IRL flying aces, but as teenage girls with personalities turned up to eleven). I recommend it, Strike witches is an extremely funny (and crazy) show, and if anything the scenes with Patton being Patton are great. There's also an OVA in which they are temporarily under the command of Rommel.
Historically, the Ratte was supposed reach 40kph - as fast as a M18 Hellcat. Whether it could actually do that if it was made is another thing entirely.
@@aceu.c.veteran5167 - In Anime, it works just fine. In reality, it would need a shipyard just to build, repair, and maintain to say nothing else of trying to tow the thing. Anyone wants to bet not even Mater from Cars could tow that thing?
somewhat amused the creators never looked into the prewar Lockheed gas turbines and aircraft. Would have made for a more fun show if one of the 'yank witches showed up at Mach one in a L-1000
Well, the anime canon seems to be heading straight past 1945 and into 1946. We already got a glimpse of mass produced Jet Strikers and wire guided missiles in Operation Victory Arrow, so who knows what will show up next!
There's a couple episodes in the anime where the local speed freak breaks the speed of sound, and they get an experimental jet broom at one point and have to give it back (in pieces) because it sucks the witch's magic dry in about 5 minutes. And then they pass out and crash.

That'd be an interesting study to look into. From what little research I did it seems to stem from the magical girl genre, popularized by Sailor Moon. I do recommend The Cockpit and Zipang for war anime without magical girls. Black Lagoon and Jormangand, too, but those are centered around organized crime instead of war.
i would never see the day where George Patton commands a ratte, and now this anime just shows it

The answer is simple
Patton

excuse me, WHAT?
Witchcraft. When in doubt, witchcraft.

German design, American steel, Soviet manpower, British Intelligence, Japanese Witchcraft.

sigh alright who gave patton the p.1000
Patton
PATTON DID
We need an anime focusing on their land counterparts, the "tank witches"
So girls und panzer only crazier.. gotcha.
Wonder if the germania project would begin in this AU after 1945
I'm quite Suprised that George Patton HAS A FREAKIN PANZERKAMPFWAGEN LANDKRUEZER P1000 RATTE.
Well, it's a show about magical girl flying aces fighting against aliens, so it shouldn't surprise you.
The big red tank monster is called the P1000 ratte no joke look it up.
I know, I study it statistics and technology on a daily.

Ratte's armor is too THICC for lasers to penetrate hell they ricochet
It’s actually the red coating that’s deflecting the lasers. That’s why Ratte was painted red.
@@Dawn_Raider interesting
That is...a Calliope on a Tiger.
So Patton is in command of Tigers and A P1000 RATTE, and Rommel is in command of a battleship, seems about right.
