Very cool ideas! I love to see more insects in speculative fiction. Just keep in mind that "insect" literally means "in sections", which is referring to their segmented bodies. Even their faces are segmented, and they are characterized by horizontal, scissor-like mandibles, not vertical jaws like vertibrates have. Insects are a good choice for dragons since we do have some biological precedent for fire-based attacks in the bombardier beetle. In fact you could probability make a whole world of just beetle dragons. I like this a lot and I wanna see more, keep it up chief!
I had this exact same idea! I made it so that the "larvae" are the actual dangerous ones that wreak havoc on the ecosystem, while the adults are chill, their only real purpose being to mate.
looks like someone was trying to make a Bug/Dragon. also the big mac measurement is sending me 💀 💀 LILY YOU USED A SIIVAGUNNER RIP IN YOUR VIDEO LMAO. that's not relic song that's a rendition of My Castle Town from deltarune
Really nice concept art, but those wings look _very_ small compared to the bodies. I don't think those things could possibly fly without magic, at least not unless their bodies are mostly just air-filled balloons. Or unless Origin's surface gravity is a lot lower than Earth's, but that comes with its own problems with retaining enough atmosphere for flying (and breathing!). Remember that the square-cube law means that bigger flyers need bigger wings relative to their body. That's because if you scale up a creature's body, its body mass scales with the cube of the body length while its wing area (and thus lift) scales only with the square of the body length. As a good rule of thumb, a flying animal as big as a small airplane is going to need wings at least as big as those of a small airplane. And probably more like those of a sailplane, if it wants to be able to glide and soar to save energy (which is also a major concern for big fliers).
Thanks, I appreciate the criticism! Out of all of these, Draero are the only ones that can fly; and they’re a lot lighter than they look cause they’re so slim. I could probably make the wings bigger anyway though. Thanks for watching!
This is the content I want on UA-cam
