A brilliantly strange story, one I've had to watch multiple times to understand what's going on

I'd be on board for that too. School Reunion was a great episode; to have Ace as a returning classic companion would be, well... Ace! I'm imaging that she overhears the Doctor introducing herself to someone then stops in her tracks - "Hi, I'm the Doctor". "Professor?!" Come on Beeb, make it so. 🤞
7th Doctor is my second favourite Doctor it's a shame he didn't get more screen time... Thank you so Doctor who for posting this

@@stormadams1126 Exactly. Hartnell will always be the First Doctor, McCoy the Seventh and Whittaker the Thirteenth. Those are all undeniable historical facts in our Universe and that's the one that counts. The real Universe, that is, as opposed to the entirely fictional one shown in the TV drama production known as Doctor Who.

This is childish on my part , but I always resented Sylvester McCoy. Collin Baker was " my " Doctor and after the abuse and shabby treatment he received I was not ready for a new actor to take his place. So I've been biased towards McCoy ever since. In my old age I've taken a new look at McCoy's tenure , and overall he was a damn good Doctor.

I have seen upto season 11 and never saw this episode...and i don't recognise the doctor too...which season of dr. Who is it?
"Ghost Light" second serial of the 26th season, October 1989. Sylvester McCoy is the 7th Doctor.
Did we ever discover why Ace intermittently called The Doctor 'Professor'? She does it fairly often in the series shes in.
Barry S I think it’s a Pygmalion/My Fair Lady reference.
Barry S Sure, but I want to say that when the Ace character was created, they had her use the Professor Nickname. I might be confusing Ace with Leela, though.
this doesn't address why she uses "professor" exactly but they decided that in usual conversation she'd refer to him as "professor" but when in a crisis she'd use "Doctor"
In the expanded media, there’s an in universe tv show called Professor X that’s eerily similar to Doctor Who. Ace just might be associating the Doctor with that character.
I think she called him that in Dragon Fire by mistake and the Doctor told her not to call him that but she kept on anyway.

I thought Rowan did a very good job at playing the Doctor in "The Fatal Death".
I think if Rowan would appear out of the next regeneration even with bad story lines, he could improv enough to make it worth the time to watch!

A few years ago Dean Smith watches Doctor Who David Tenant and Matt Smith.. hears of The Master.. hes cool.. Cyber Men.. The Daleks.. stops watching it.. a few years later.. starts watching it again... THIS IS AMAZING.. 🤣🤣
Why did Reverend Matthews become a monkey man exhibit? No-one really knows, it was just kind of going that way. Why not?
For a darker story, the doctor's outfit is a bit distracting. It somewhat undermines the mood of the story.
They got rid of the hat and umbrella at least.

I kind of feel like the BBC is becoming quite sadistic. They took Doctor Who, smashed it to pieces in front of us over the last two seriss and are now showing us clips of what we had before they asserted their dominance.
