These tiny homes is something we all need everywhere in the u.s. It is more conservative, has everything you need, less costs and more land space to build more homes for individuals. Talking about no more homelessness and more 💰 to save and actual home ownership.

Being low income myself, I'd love to see these in the capital city of Michigan, as well. We've bunked up with a friend's family after becoming homeless and have been working hard over a year to raise up enough to get our own place as it seems that something always happens where we have to dip a bit into our savings to get us by. But, we still have a long way to go. If this opportunity was available where I live, I'd love to snatch one up. Either way, it is a great idea for Detroit. I love it.
One of the best UA-cam video's I've seen in a long time!! Wonderful idea, Detroit, to benefit a vulnerable group! California should follow your lead on this.....seriously. Of course, one can have a "middle class" income and still struggle to afford housing in the "Golden state"! Aww.........the greed!
Thats so beautiful ....every homeless person should be able to have one of these adorable small homes. There is so much old house and buildings that are falling apart, tear them down and build these for them....may God help them.
If this is on the up and up, I am very pleased. It will give people the chance to own their own home. Which brings ownership to the table. Something most low income people simply have given up on. I live in a low income community. Most, not all, but most of the residents figure this is their lot in life. What yall are doing is awesome. Keep up Gods work. Grace and peace.
It's definitely on the up and up! The project is being done by Cass Community Social Services (www.CassCommunity.org) a non-profit in Detroit that provides food, housing, health care and jobs to the cities most at-risk citizens. They've been fighting poverty and creating opportunity in Detroit for well over a decade!
Rev Fowler is a hero and should be given an award for such a brilliant idea! Downsizing and building tiny homes is the way to go now in the 21st century, its affordable and can be easily maintained. This is exactly what every community needs to start - one community at a time solving the homeless/housing crisis. I think the homes are beautiful, manageable and sustainable. God bless you Rev Fowler, thank you for being a huge blessing to those in need around you. Let's pray that this can spread all the US and all over the world.

I would think that doing something with the one in five empty houses in Detroit would be a more efficient use of dollars. Though I applaud Detroit for loosening the building codes to enable the building of these tiny houses. It would be good if more communities across the country would revise the building codes and zoning to allow people to build tiny.
No it can't go to all 50 states. It won't even be that big in Michigan honestly. It's just a "trial" type program that they always show in a small area. The real estate lobby along with townships/municipalities won't like this on a large scale because they'd get less taxes (based on house size) and everyone else involved in housing would take substantial pay cuts from people who design and build the houses, to people who supply the materials, to people who would make all the things necessary to furnish/upkeep them.
NJ like Calif. needs these too, we have the HIGHEST cost of living here , homes, car Insurance, TAXES, etc. are out of control! I love this idea and wish it would spread around the Country!!
Most states have tight regulations on the minimum house size and it wouldn't be allowed. The regulations are ridiculous and stop low income people owning their own homes.
I am from Detroit, what an awesome project. We have a lot of programs to assist the homeless. Kudos to every city in the USA that looks out for those who need help, in their communities That's what the real Americans do....pay attention guy in the White House! Love and Blessings to all 🙏🏽💕

Smart idea this is really going to help the homeless rent to own smh thanks to the people who actually came up with this idea 💡and in forced it now other states need to take this in to consideration 😍😁
this is what the netherlands do , they look after their citszens and their are maybe up to 10 homeless but , the netherlands gives them a house to live and a job.
Now this is news !! I wish my husband would downsize I am fed up with this waste of space and money !! All I want or need is a warm place to hang my head .I am thankful for a home but it is not all that matters to me. These places are beautiful.
What a cute and beautiful neighborhood they are creating. Kudos to this woman and all her contributors. They are doing good things for those who need it most. Jobs, homes, and security. These homeowners will own their very own home outright in 7yrs. Think about that for a minute.
Love it! Great idea and reachable goal for the homeless to live a normal life! Can’t wait for it to come to Santa Barbara, CA., we have an abundance of homeless sleeping on our streets 😔
Is it possible you guys could bring that idea here. There are so many vacant lots and abandoned buildings in St Louis that could be used for something like this, and there are a lot of hard working people who could really use it. I hope you can spread to all the low income areas in America, you have an opportunity to make a huge impact. Anyway good work keep it up😁
Thanks for the kind words, Aysha! We couldn't agree more with your sentiment and also think it should be done as many places as possible, however Cass is currently focused on the Detroit area. However, with the knowledge that other areas could also benefit, Rev. Fowler wrote a book about how other cities can adopt this model tinyhomesbigcity.com.
I absolutely love everything about this. One element I would add to it is one that Habitat for Humanity does- they have the people buying the home actually help build it (sweat equity). To me this weeds out the folks that are lazy takers and provides a real sense of pride in those who genuinely are grateful.
Hey Nichole, thanks for your feedback. We don't like to negatively characterize people because we don't necessarily know their personal experience and believe with the right support and proper situation everybody has good in them and holds the potential to flourish. We can assure you, each of the residents has been extremely grateful. There are certain conditions each of residents of the Tiny Homes Detroit community has to meet (which does include community service) and each of them does go through an application process because Cass Community is mindful about who they are providing this opportunity to. That being said, Cass also doesn't want to exclude people who simply might not be capable of doing certain things. Cass is hugely supportive of Habitat for Humanity but is intentionally doing this program in a different way. For instance, one of the residents is an elderly woman who has developed severe rheumatoid arthritis and another is a former pastor who lost his job after developing cerebral palsy. Clearly these are people who, through no fault of their own, would not be able to help build a house. Nobody is inherently excluded from the program but we are certainly trying to set people up for success.
@@CBScene excellent, well said1 THE HEART OF JESUS shows forth, to judge no individual, I sense there is no bias and condescension here, EXCELLENT BEYOND WORDS!! Choosing not to negatively characterize others,, is again the heart of JESUS! We do not know their personel experience, nor do we ever,,,hav the right to judge another!! THAT ATTITUDE OF JUDGEMENT AND CONDESCENSION,, snobbing others,, is one of the very reason we have such issues to address!!!

Though I applaud Detroit for loosening the building codes to enable the building of these tiny houses. It would be good if more communities across the country would revise the building codes and zoning to allow people to build tiny.
bert smith could not agree more!
can this go to all 50 states???🐣🍀🏠
I wouldn't want to see this where I am. We have tornado issues!
Most states have tight regulations on the minimum house size and it wouldn't be allowed. The regulations are ridiculous and stop low income people owning their own homes.
@ Tea Earlgrey - Good points. Too bad. 😐
Beautiful and generous program.
My late husband was born in Detroit, I wish he was here to see his city coming back in such a good way:)
I am from Detroit, what an awesome project. We have a lot of programs to assist the homeless. Kudos to every city in the USA that looks out for those who need help, in their communities That's what the real Americans do....pay attention guy in the White House! Love and Blessings to all 🙏🏽💕
Every city needs places like these. ! Great idea. May god bless them all. ❤️🙏🏽🇨🇦
amen

What a true blessing to the community! This Pastor is not just preaching from a pulpit but walking among the poor and needy and doing the work of Christ! May God continue to bless and protect her in her fulfilling the mission of healing, compassion, integrity and love!
A home is a home I love it
So nice, makes my heart feel happy for those blessed to have this opportunity, praying for everyone that is homeless to get this kind of blessed opportunity, maybe one day I will have my tiny home dream home if not here for sure in heaven. God bless everyone involved in making this happen for others.
Smart idea this is really going to help the homeless rent to own smh thanks to the people who actually came up with this idea 💡and in forced it now other states need to take this in to consideration 😍😁
Thanks for the kind words, Lola!
Lola Bademosi I agree 1000%
@Marion Dorsey I agree too
agreed!
Who the hell thumbed this down? Damn demons.
Rentiers
The 115 that didn't make the initial cut
I know... people just dont care that's why the thumbs down...
this is what the netherlands do , they look after their citszens and their are maybe up to 10 homeless but , the netherlands gives them a house to live and a job.
sounds good but not true
Very good, I wish a project like this in Brazil, would be great.
Outstanding. The Reverend is a Saint 😊
This is AWESOME!!!!! Believing in others not just self. Giving back just feels good!! We are our brothers keeper💝😇
Now this is news !! I wish my husband would downsize I am fed up with this waste of space and money !! All I want or need is a warm place to hang my head .I am thankful for a home but it is not all that matters to me. These places are beautiful.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Tammy!
So beautiful, amazing thank you
I love this so much. I wish we had programs like this everywhere.
Outstanding.....we all need to live like this....and....the blighted homes in the area...can become the "materials,...to build these!"
Thanks for your kind words!
Thank you and GOD bless you ED WEIR.
Such a wonderful idea.
What a cute and beautiful neighborhood they are creating. Kudos to this woman and all her contributors. They are doing good things for those who need it most. Jobs, homes, and security. These homeowners will own their very own home outright in 7yrs. Think about that for a minute.
This is needed Now in every major city. 2019!!!!
Love it! Great idea and reachable goal for the homeless to live a normal life! Can’t wait for it to come to Santa Barbara, CA., we have an abundance of homeless sleeping on our streets 😔
the American dream is providing YOURSELF with a home
Rev. Fowler We thank God for you. I agree with one of the other young ladies comments. We working people's needs that opportunity in Rock Hill S.C
100%! Their sweat equity model also creates long term ownership connection and pride in the home. A great program.
@@GS-rw9og This maybe a secular organization, but this is true Christianity in action.✝ Faith without works is dead.
This is really a great idea. It's giving people back their dignity. I hope it catches on all over the country.
This makes me very happy to see. We have to support one and other.
Thank you for caring❤
Cool that's just AWESOME.!!
Show your daughters what a female hero is. This woman is an inspiration.
I would love to be able to help communities like this!
This is a blessing...i hope all works
