Well, Dreams video about stans shows that he’s defending stans, but not THOSE stans. It seems like he was referring to the part of his fanbase that are cool and chill, even more so in a tweet I think he mentioned that toxicity is always going to exist in a community, and that toxicity is going to only be seen if people look for it.
All of this kinda just shows that Dream more so believes that the toxic fans in his community are a lot smaller then people think and aren’t really that important to address. (Especially since a large majority of them are kids).
And while he’s sort of correct with that statement, as Dream stans are a lot less prominent in the fanbase then people think they are but it’s still irresponsible. Combine that with his weird way of responding to things and then you got a lot of problems. His personal definition of stans doesn’t help either.
Dreams just REALLY irresponsible with controlling his fanbase. That of course isn’t an excuse to attack someone but at least he’s not doing it to appease the toxic kids.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that dream’s stans harassed addison rae because he sent her merch early so they took that personally
PLEASE do your research and know who you are talking about before you talk about them. Those who were doing that kind of garbage to poor Addison Rae were NOT within our Twitter community, they were from Tiktok. Not all Tiktok stans are bad but unfortunately those who were attacking Rae just for interacting with Dream were. We as stans are not one unit, we are not a hive mind, we are all each individuals who have come together to share a similar interest. It's that simple. The majority of us are truly kind and considerate, we simply just want to mind our business and stay in our lane, but we have literal grown men coming for our throats on the daily and calling us vile things when we weren't even the ones to strike the first blow. We are allowed and entitled to defend our community, our circles of friends we have made via Dream's content, and the place that feels like family and home to us when we are slandered like this. I don't care if old men hate us or can't stand that we have a healthy general bonded relationship with our cc. I know who we are, I know we are kind. I know we have stood together for months through thick and thin and have loved each other with genuine friendship, and Dream has always been such a great leader and role model to fuel that.

I do think that the literal grown men in the video going crazy over teens being a little crazy about their favorite creator is kinda dumb but when the vocal minority of stans are stupid and try to cancel someone over something as small as getting merch from the guy, I’m gonna just assume like 80% of the stand are cancer. Especially since every time Dream’s fan base is brought up, it’s them doing another ridiculous thing. I know not all stans are bad but a LOT of them are.

I absolutely agree with Jawsh here. I used to be on K-pop stan twitter and I hated how they made the artists into gods. I couldn't say a group was not underrated because then I would be stomped on by the fans of that group. I hope fans of dream on stan Twitter can find there are different ways to support their favourite creator without harassing or obsessing over people.
I am a kpop fan and the way Korea and everyone else treats them as some of gods, makes me uncomfortable it's like they're human, the artists themselves have spoken out about this and some have written songs on how they don't want to be treated like some angels, they're critized for EVERYTHING they do, even if it's as simple as not waving to someone
The thing is that Dream and Jawsh have different views of what a stan is becus they've had different experiences with them.
Dream POV of a stan: The people who send him fanarts and are generally nice to others. They show slight obsession but do other stuff.
Jawsh: Obsessed people with creepy materials from their page.
Dream looks at the sunrise. Jawsh looks at the sunset.

Omg! I remember that when I was younger and Justin blew up, I used to be one but there were tons of them that were doing a lot of crazy stuff. They tried to rewatch Baby so Gangnam Style wouldn’t take it’s most viewed video throne, a girls in Mexico sold their virginity to get Justin Bieber concert tickets, a girl for a contest tattooed the whole Baby song on her leg (badly) and I remember another one to show her love she cut on her arm the words “I 💜 Justin” for some reason. Plus tons of lewd fanfics and stuff

A stan by definition is someone obsessive over someone, or stalker fan. You don't need to call yourself a stan, just call yourself a fan, a big fan, a super fan.
