Nobody is denying that there are some fucked up people in the dream fanbase, but news flash dumbass, that's the same for every fanbase, only scaling up with its size, and considering dreams sitting at what, 14 million subscribers I can see why it's easier to find that shit but I hate that people keep generalising that "oh fans are making arguments on dreams behalf, what toxic dream stans, I'm sure every dream fans like that..." or "oh somebody drew fucked up art about dream, all of his fans must be just as fucked."

For your information, a Stan isn’t a person with their favourite content creator as their pfp, they aren’t people who regularly post about the content creator in a respectful manner, they aren’t people who simply like a persons content and respect their favourite content creators privacy. They’re obsessive people who have a parasocial relationship with their favourite content creator while not respecting their privacy or comfort at all

I agree with Ludwig completely. He compared the relationship like a TV show. He is just there for entertainment, and he only wants to give you enjoyment. If his content gets worse, he doesn't want you to still watch him, as his purpose is not being fulfilled, just watch a different channel/show. He doesn't want viewers to want to be his friend, he just wants to be something you watch in your freetime and don't really think about after. I think Dream could benefit from this, teaching viewers that completely building their life around him and his friends is bad for their growth as a person, and that viewers need to just be viewers and not "his kittens". Dream wants to gain from the viewers, while Ludwig and Schlatt want the viewers to gain from them.

When people say shit like “X celebrity saved me,” that’s just super unhealthy. If some random person on the internet you’ve never met kept you from going over the edge, that’s either a temporary fix or one that will lead to different problems. These people need to get therapy, since they haven’t been fully saved from themselves yet
It's complex. When you're in that state of mind, sometimes it's something very small or inconsequential that can make you stay. And that's perfectly good! Anything that makes someone want to stay is a good reason, no matter how big and small.
However I agree that crediting the content creator with saving you is unhealthy. I understand the need to express gratitude, but the cc's part in helping was a passive thing, not something they went out to do, if that makes sense. It's good that these people have something to help them get through, but they certainly should also seek therapy to learn to manage those feelings and channel them in a more healthy manner.
the problem is, you can be in therapy and still not be recovering very well. everyones minds work differently and sometimes you latch onto things or (as twitter stans often say) "hyperfixate" on small things (like ccs) to feel some sense of comfort or security. its not necessarily the best option but its a coping mechanism, meaning that people often say "they saved my life" even when it probably didnt do that, it just made them feel secure. i dont think its super unhealthy, its just when it becomes a habit to replace genuine therapy or long-term recovery that its dangerous.
I usually find it weird and pathetic but, I suppose since they didn't kill themselves it's great.
But I just hope they won't loose it if their favorite creator is a terrible person.

Dream is a nice guy but, he needs to really understand the dangers of stanning. The fact that he is fueling his stans parasocial relationship is weird. Dream needs to understand that a parasocial relationship is dangerous to a lot of the stans and is why streams and many content creators say "Im not your friend". He knows this since he posted it on his private account, and he knows that only stans would know about it, so it really is clear that he is just profiting his stans.

I honestly don't know why people feel the need to have to justify their criticism of Dream. Like they say they don't agree with them and have to add "Not that I hate Dream or anything, I actually enjoy his content, I just don't like his behavior". As someone who's been in the art community for years- the last tweet talking about "The idea in their head" was absolutely spot on. A lot of folks who put lots of effort into the "Dream" concept don't see the "Dream" they draw as the real person that's behind the videos- but the character he's perceived himself to be. It's a persona, not the real human dream in this reality, so some artists make some...lets call it "weird" art, as if he was their original character or something from a popular fictional work. This is because they've created, in a weird way, an "original character" out of what they've perceived of the Dream persona. This creativity is seen with all popular media, and is especially amped up if there's a fictional story created with characters...like the dream SMP. As such, a lot of people probably don't see anything wrong with it because they're not making gore/porn of a real person, but the fictional persona created through storytelling. However this practice from someone who's not familiar with this concept looking in looks really, *really* bad. I don't blame them for thinking such- I feel similarly uncomfortable with the more explicit portrayals of the persona, even if it's simply alluding to it- but I felt like it might be helpful to some if I attempted to explain the concept, as this has happened before and tends to follow roughly the same pattern. It's only amplified now because there's a lot more eyes on the pattern then ever before, which both causes the phenomena to grow and puts a glaring spotlight on it at the same time.

I swear, dream's career is quite similar to Leafyishere. He's growing extremely fast, fostering a very toxic fanbase of mostly teenagers or little kids who treat him like their god and will insult anyone who doesnt align with their views, and worst of all dream is getting into quite a bit of controversies and drama.

I used to really hate "dream stans" with all my gut couple months ago, but, to be honest, I really don't like how there's a whole new community specifically aimed at criticizing everything Dream says under the "dream's stans" complaint. I like calling them the anti-dream stans stans, like, no matter what dream does they are there to criticize him on everything he does. Yeah, there are dream stans, and SOME of them have a very unhealthy parasocial relationship with dream, but I also think some of the haters (by haters I'm just referring as all these people complaining about dream) have an equally unhealthy parasocial relationship with dream.
Dream is a dude, he's not a god, he's not the devil, he's not a genius, nor is he the king of manipulation.
He's a guy, there's always a probability that he says he loves his fans because he has legitimately developed feelings towards an entire community... Not everything he does or says is because of a massive plot to manipulate his fans... He's a guy, cut him some slack.

Tbh I'm not hating on dream stans nowadays, I hate more of the fact that dream never addresses that there are bad portions of his stans and that they need to stop; Loving your fans is one thing, but defending them like as if nobody is wrong in the community is ridiculous, and even if he doesn't address them to stop, it would've been somewhat fine, but he highly encouraged it instead, which just makes things worse especially once the small portion becomes the majority of the stans in the future.
I do agree with you on the fact that there _are_ a few people that are likely just bandwagoning in the dramas solely cause they hated dream before the dramas even started, but honestly, most of the criticism isn't even from just the "dream stans" or Dream himself, It's more on how he's encouraging the wrong things and he'd only have nobody to blame but himself for trying to say stuff like how he's in closer relationship with his fans and that he genuinely loves them once they realize that he actually doesn't and can't.

Let's take intention into consideration. Dream has possibly been THE quickest growing channel on youtube EVER. This is not easy to digest for anyone, and nobody is inherently used to dealing with such a large fanbase so quickly, especially at his age.
In the tweet he made he tried to express basically the same thing as schlatt, albeit in a "nicer" way. He tried to express how he loves his fans, but only "his fans" generally speaking, not his fans individually. However, his stanbase is going to twist what he said to fit their view, simply because of how it can be misinterpreted. I've seen a lot of youtubers do the same, saying they "love" their fans, (take jacksepticeye or even pewdiepie as an example) and i think thats what dream is trying to aim for.
I think that since dream is possibly revealing his face tomorrow, the stanning of him will stop after a while. As one of the tweeters said, they love the idea of him, not him.
As for the cheating allegations, i think he did cheat, and was simply too afraid and immature to admit it immediately. I don't really blame him, it takes a lot of balls to admit such a mistake to so many people, even though in retrospect it always seems very obvious

I'll be honest. I've watched Dream for a while now (im more of a Technoblade fan tho) and I definitely wouldn't consider myself a stan. Its a thing I do when Im bored because fuck UA-cam for not giving me anything good to watch lately. But this stan situation? Its not ok. I like dream but Im not delusional. Stans can either be nice or extremely batshit crazy in need of a asylum. Humans in the end, are not as nice and happy yappy as we're made to believe. We didnt claw our way to the top of the food chain by being nice. We killed, murdered and ate our way there. But in the end, we are NOT what Id call "good". (not sure where im going with this so ill get back on track) The point though is that Dream has dug a hole and whether he did it on purpose or not doesn't matter. Hes already dug too deep and if he stops "loving" his arguably toxic and delusional fan base it could turn very ugly for him and fast. I believe a lot of these fans are so obsessed with him because he gives them what they just cant get enough of. Attention and the illusion of affection and love. If Dream stops doing this now, hes in deep shit to but it nicely. I dont think his UA-cam channel will last much longer if he stops saying how much he cares about his stans. Is Dream manipulating the stans? Maybe. Perhaps its unintentionally, maybe hes a psychopath. Cant say for sure. But I think a lot of us know this is going to backfire horribly for him in the end. He dug the grave he will lay in
