I am Czechoslovakian and haven’t ever looked into my culture but now that I’m getting older I want to learn more! I was recommended your channel so I can’t wait to learn recipes!!
@@czechcookbook You changed my life with your apple strudel recipe, so thanks again for that. It wasn't necessarily the recipe itself, but watching your video encouraged me to make it myself, a rather inexperienced cook. I will be making it this Friday, for my SO's birthday :)
Kristina, I'm so glad to see you cooking for us again. What a lovely recipe too. Please tell us your journey back to the US, and if we can expect more recipes soon. I have your awesome cookbook. Love your videos!!!
I'm so happy to see you back! Thank you for another wonderful video and looking at you, it's crazy how much we resemble one another. Must be our beautiful lineage 😅 thanks again and it truly is nice to see you back. Can't wait for more dishes and ideas.
So nice to see a video from you. And with a "new" recipe (i.e., not in your cookbook!). I was so pleased to find your cookbook at the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library last Christmas. I bought it as a gift for myself. Have you heard of the museum? It's in my hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where a lot of Czech, Slovaks, and Moravians emigrated. Come visit sometime!
I didn't know there was a museum like that in the United States. It would be cool to visit. I do have Czech and Slovak ancestry, from a maternal grandmother. She was born in Canada, but her mother was from Prague, and her father was from Slovakia. They came through Ellis Island, from Czechoslovakia in 1900, and were married there that year, and they lived in New York City for a little while, before coming to Canada. I do have distant relatives in the United States from that side, and from a maternal grandfather, but I don't know them. Cheers! ✌️
Thank you for such a clear recipe and linking your halushki maker, I just bought it. I was having such trouble doing it with tea spoon and chopping board, this looks much easier.
My pleasure. :) Yes so much easier. I gave one to my mom and my sister in CZ and they love it. Especially my mom, because she was not enjoying making it the hard way with spoon and board like you. Now she happily makes it. :)
Welcome back! I'm so excited to try this recipe because it's my favorite Slovak dish. I have your cookbook and absolutely love the other dishes and explanations on how to make them. However, I don't want to make the dish without traditional brynza, and I have not been able to find it sold in the USA. Where can Brynza be purchased in the USA from?
Actually someone told me they have brynza in Poland. There are many Polish stores in USA so that would be great place to find it. :) Maybe even online Polish store?
@@czechcookbook I'm wondering if other sheep cheeses, like Manchego or Mevgal Cheese Organic Imported Sheeps milk Feta would work since it's made from sheep's milk and melts easily. I can find these sheep cheeses from my local Sprouts
Looks really good. I would like to see if that type of cheese is available in Canada for that recipe. Prague is one place I definitely would like to go to. My maternal, great grandmother was born in Prague, and her husband, who is my maternal, great grandfather, was from Slovakia. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
@@czechcookbook have you tried it using heavy cream instead of sour cream, which I've seen in other recipes? I'm going to make it tonight using your ingredients (except I'll be using Greek sheep cheese) and I'll let you know how it turns out! Diky moc!
@@czechcookbook Recipe turned out great with the Greek feta sheep cheese! I didn't have your halusky maker so I used a BBQ steamer tray which worked alright. I'll probably go with less sour cream next round just because of family preference. Diky za tutorial!
YOU are so amazing! Love cooking with you all these years. Mam te rada!
Thank you so much! :)
@czechcookbook So happy to see you back in USA! 💙 Looking forward to future recipes/videos as well.

Yes I do.

Do Bohemians also eat this, or mostly Moravians?
We used to be Czechoslovakia so we share many dishes. Yes people in whole CZ eat and know this dish.
Kde kupujete bryndzu? Ja ju neviem skoro nikde nájsť. Žijem v Colorade
Ani já ji nemůžu najít, proto používám Feta z Trader Joes. Ukazuji ve videu. 😊
Ted mi jedna Polka napsala, ze ji maji v Polsku. V USA je spoustu polskych obchodu, tak treba zkusit tam. Mozna maji i online obchod.
