I believe her 100% because it was not in her best interest to come forward. She, along with her family, was threatened and harassed. It was really a case of "He said, she said" and when that is presented as the only evidence, then the outcome usually isn't a just one. It’s awful that she was treated with dismissal. This nomination should have NEVER gone through. I have lost complete faith in the Supreme Court. Stack the court.

Do you believe her? What would you do?
Scott. And you think you do? I was 4. Can’t recall the date, because I was 4. But, mom had a dr appointment. Took little sister. I stayed with “family friends”. It was summer, 55 years ago THIS summer. I can walk you to the exact spot in that yard, where the Boy Scout tent was pitched. The tent color, sleeping bag color, exactly what Burt and Ernie type striped shirt I wore with color matched shorts, my little white sandals. I even remember the smelly white t shirt he wore, the blue shorts and black shoes and knee high socks with the red rings at the top. Tell me again how trauma works. You know squat!

If I had been in Kavanaugh's position and faced similar accusations (I never assaulted anyone) I would have just simply said, "Sorry for the confusion but I know nothing about this. A mistaken identity has been made." Kavanaugh's resort to outrage and dramatics strikes me as an acknowledgement of guilt. Innocent people have nothing to fear. The fear in Kavanaugh's voice was sickening and visceral.

A high price due to the charge of sexual assault. Yes. You know who else? The men after decades in prison being released by the Innocence Project, mostly from the charge of sexual assault. Sexual assualt is the #1 source of false convictions, and it's not even close. A high price, indeed. Scores of men have lost their entire lives due to lying women accusing them of sexual assault. How about... evidence, yo?
lol...no she hasn't, she was paid to go up and falsely testify against Kavanaugh and oh the go fund page she made up herself, I might add....I didn't believe her then and certainly don't now.
Even in this interview she lets the audience believe it costs her $5,000-$10,000 to go out in public. This is what my issue is with her. Loose with the truth. She probably means if she is doing an event (she gets many awards) she will get high end security that she probably doesn't pay for for very public events only. I don't believe she surfs that break either.
This is a good point. She really does stretch the truth a lot. Remember her fear of flying when she flies all the time? And the thing about her needing two exits in her home annex when in fact it was to support a tenant?
Cavanaugh is a terrible person, but Thomas is worse. I especially hate how Thomas played the race card ( his whole "high tech lynching for uppity blacks" BS is especially galling).
Dr. Blasey Ford deserved a better interview. It would have been more appropriate for inquisitive questions, not an accusitive line of questioning. I expect better from CBS Sunday Morning.
My sense (and I could be totally wrong) is that Dr Ford knew about and welcomed these questions. To avoid these questions would make the reporting unbalanced and she probably wanted the opportunity to publicly respond to them.
Yes, that's very common actually. Definitely more so in traumatic cases. Because it's due to your mind wanting to go into protection mode. So in these traumatic events, your mind closes off some or all memories from that experience. It's all part of your brain closing off parts of an experience that's extremely traumatizing. In my Psych degree studies, its Neuropsychologists that tend to really understand what happens in your brain, when different experiences happen, it's them who really know how to explain this so well. They know which neurotransmitters are affected and how, and which ones block memories, to keep you safe, or really, to keep you from having a nervous breakdown.
Where you in that room? I don't think she lied...also,maybe she was drugged...Would not surprise me..Brett was not looked into like he should have been..@lotsoffun4716
Your mind doesn’t go from closing off parts of an experience that’s extremely traumatizing to testifying in front of the whole world.
Do you remember every moment of your most traumatic events? No one does. Here's the real problem. This man was accused of sexual assault. Why did he HAVE to be the one appointed? Why not find someone equally competent? This whole confirmation was a sham.
I believe you Dr. Ford Ford, believe you're a liar Justice Kavanaugh, and also hold a number of senators and despicable citizens in contempt for their coordinated attack.
She’s a hero. I believe her, but even if you want to put that to one side, Kavanaugh’s behaviour in the hearing was enough to disqualify him from being a SC Justice.
She couldn't recount names, times or even literal places from her alleged crime. You need to be a bit more critical, especially when it comes to modern political psyops.
Didn't Joe Biden, as chairman of the committee investigating accusations against Clarence Thomas, refuse to allow another woman, Sukari Hardnett, to corroborate Anita Hill's testimony. Is it so terribly difficult for men to "allow" women to present accusations against powerful men? Hopefully one day, women will be given an equal voice in such cases.
Well, according the the Innocence Project, the #1 conviction that put innocent men in prison for most of their lives is: sexual assault. Seems women aren't being so overlooked that it doesn't result in totally innocent mostly black men in jail for decades? Where are all the women wrongfully jailed by lying devious men? The Innocence Project hasn't come up with very many wrongfully convicted women. And by "very many" I mean: ZERO.
Uh, maybe she felt compelled BECAUSE he was going to be a supreme court justice. If he lied about this, what else would he do? Do you really think she would have put herself and her family through this if it weren't true? There was nothing in it for her except seeing him be held accountable. She is very smart and brave women. I only wish the outcome would have been different.
This woman was paid $700,000 for her testimony which gave no details and this was the problem; as a woman who was attacked several decades ago I can tell the time of day, what they were wearing, what I was wearing; the fact she could not bring any specific details, nor could his friends or anyone at the party could verify it: so she is still trying to make money off this

If you’re a victim of sexual assault, you need to report it. By not reporting it, you’re giving the assailant permission to do it to someone else. If it’s reported, it creates a record. The more that’s added, it becomes a pattern. Nothing might happen the first time, but once a pattern is established, it gives authorities something to put them away for as long as they can.

I feel like I need to defend the ones WITH integrity ... Sotomayor, for one, has been writing the TRUTH - along with very intense warnings - in her Dissents since drumpf took office. But yeah, the dudes on SCOTUS for sure are increasingly devoid of any integrity at all.
Obviously, you have not been raped. If I came forward I would get the same response. The only witnesses were the man that convinced me to leave a party with him and the two men he left me with that raped me. Afterward, I was threatened that if I told anyone they would come after me again. I was so ashamed and felt like it was my fault to have trusted the man that I left the party with. I only told one friend about it. Would anyone believe her -- there were no witnesses, no evidence, no police report. Yet a VISIOUS CRUEL CRIME WAS COMMITTED against me. I was underage and so just kept it a secret all these years -- I'm 64 years old now and I remember it like it is happening to me again. The people that do this are so evil and they know that they can do a crime like this with no witnesses, no evidence, and that they can scare and shame a woman (or man) into not reporting it. They also know that going through a trial is bitterly painful for the victim, and because of people like you that want evidence and witnesses, the victim could go through the bitter rehashing of the rape in public only to have the monster(s) get away with it. (It is a shame because there is no telling how many other women they pulled that same stunt on and committed that same violence against over the years).
Ms. Ford was brave and never naive; she was savaged (again) by a group of vicious males in the public's eyes. I believed her as she spoke; I believe her now. Her courage is a reminder for all of us that we cannot think of consequences when the public good is at stake. Shero!!

Here’s the problem you don’t go through that and then write a book and make millions of dollars. It actually devalues her story even more. You don’t wanna get clout off of your sexual style by charging people years later after you came forward. It doesn’t help her credibility. It’s one thing to do a UA-cam live and have people comment. However, to write a book in charge people and make millions of dollars off of it to further tarnish a Supreme Court Justice doesn’t help her. If it did happen. A mistaken identity has been made." Kavanaugh's resort to outrage and dramatics strikes me as an acknowledgement of guilt. Innocent people have nothing to fear. The fear in Kavanaugh's voice was sickening and visceral.
Well said. BK's vitriol was perhaps because he knew there was a pattern of his behavior that many females could attest to.

A high price due to the charge of sexual assault. Yes. You know who else? The men after decades in prison being released by the Innocence Project, mostly from the charge of sexual assault.

Dr. Blasey Ford deserved a better interview. It would have been more appropriate for inquisitive questions, not an accusitive line of questioning. I expect better from CBS Sunday Morning.
Yes. I noticed that too.
Yes! I'm about to add a comment about that.
My sense (and I could be totally wrong) is that Dr Ford knew about and welcomed these questions. To avoid these questions would make the reporting unbalanced and she probably wanted the opportunity to publicly respond to them.

She couldn't remember whose home it was nor how she got there or got home but she did testify that she had just 1 beer at the 'gathering'.

If you’re a victim of sexual assault, you need to report it. By not reporting it, you’re giving the assailant permission to do it to someone else. If it’s reported, it creates a record.
