Wow ... I never thought I would see this or hear the honesty you just spoke. Blake, this speech was so powerful & you were completely right about everything. I am beyond proud of you & so thankful that you have finally realized that life has soo much more to offer. You are going to do great when you begin your "new" life. I wish you the best & if you ever need anything ... well, you know how to find me.

You can Tell This Dude Is Very Intelligent! I have a similar story (without the prison time though). I had a four year scholarship to play baseball in Alabama, and lost it because of possessing drugs. A year later was given a scholarship by a school in Atlanta to play baseball. A year later was convicted of possessing drugs again. Sitting in prison is not the solution for this guy. He is obviously not just some drugged out junkie. This dude has great potential and should be given another chance to succeed in life.

Run ShortStop Slim I agree with you, as I believe alternatives to prison should be explored when the circumstances warrant it. Yet he was found to be TRAFFICKING illegal drugs. In my country (Canada), drug trafficking is an indictable offence. Some schedules of drug trafficking have life imprisonment as a maximum term. In my country, meth is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, making the maximum penalty for dealing such a drug life imprisonment, because dealing in Schedule 1 drugs carries that maximum penalty. Britain's Misuse of Drugs Act classifies meth as a Class A drug, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Blake Russell did damage to his own sports career simply by choosing what he might have thought was easy money that would come in via drug trafficking. I wish him good luck in trying to seek entry to Australia, New Zealand or the British Isles, as all such countries' immigration authorities take dim views of convicted drug traffickers. He may be able to get into Canada, but only by applying for rehabilitation, in advance, via one of that country's diplomatic missions.
I believe Blake's story is a warning to anyone who thinks that drug trafficking is OK. I hope he can turn his life around, although I admit that it'll be hard.

This guy is an awesome speaker! That said often people don't start using pot and then go to heroin, etc. Now a days
a lot of people go right to such drugs as narcotics and benzos.
