Technically, Maggie Bell was the first one to sign with Swansong..... along with Bad Company. Also, @Jamel_AKA_Jamal check out Free, and other work by Paul Rodgers including The Firm. You won't be disappointed.
This song was released in mid 7o s. Chicago, Hollies, Paul McCartney and Wings were out for a time doing songs. Steely Dan was out then. Alot of Motown and soul and romantic soul groups were out too then. The Righteous Brothers , Stylistics, Cool and the Gang. Even Elton John. It was quite a great mix of amazing talent of many different genres.
I grew up listening to country music and remember hearing this group for the first time. I was in Naval technical school to become an avionics technician (1986) living in a barracks and my room mate was an ex sports bookie from Philly. I remember hearing faint music one night and I awoke in the pitch black room to see a cigarette cherry. I turned on my bed light and he was sitting there with a glass of scotch and a walkman. He handed me the headset and he was chilling to Bad Company. He also introduced me to Traffic. Great dude and tremendous pool hustler :-)
By who? People are always throwing out the XXX is the most underrated----------- in rock. As many fans as this baand has, I wouldn't call him underrated.
Paul Rodgers and Eric Burdon... In my opinion, the two best, pure rock/blues vocalists in history. Period. Paul is mind-blowing. And even today he sounds phenomenal. Oh, you mentioned blues... Yup, Paul was deep into blues, he always said it was in his soul. Bad Company newly always had a blues undertone or outright blues feel, much like The Animals. Great vid, brother!
While I agree he is one of the best voices in Rock .... But "the best" .... Hard to agree with that when the likes of Freddy Mercury walked this planet
Actually it came out in 1974. It was recorded in late 1973 though. As far as competition I guess you could say bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foghat, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Nazareth, and other "hard rock" bands of the era. This was the pre-heavy metal era. Hard rock bands had more soulfulness in their playing. They were influenced by blues and soul music. Most music fans didn't really think about competition back in those days it was all part of the rock and roll catalog. Hard rock and folk rock and southern rock and country rock and jazz rock and soft rock and progressive rock. Later came new wave and punk and heavy metal. It's all part of what they now call "classic rock" But to us it was just "current rock"...
I can't explain, but I really enjoy do watching the reactions to the songs of my youth (born 1960 - listening to Bad Company in 70's). I think I'm just glad to see that younger generations can enjoy the awesome music put out in that era. PS Bob Seger may be the only artist that sang about old time rock and roll while actually creating some old time rock and roll himself.
Same. I'm born in 61 and I love love love watching the reactions to all the music that formed the backdrop to my life. I also love a lot of new stuff and make a point of listening to new music. Currently mad about Steve lacy , live without your love.
This band was hot as hell in the 70s. Feel Like Making Love was a staple for all teens in the day. The song Bad Company to me is very folk and western music. Cowboy themed for sure; They're one of the best known rebel or individualist in our country's past. There's not a more romanticized character than a cowboy alone on the land with nothing but his grit and toughness to survive.
This album came out in 1973. This is another one of those albums i wore out in my teen years great music. YOU MUST do their song "feel like makin love".
One of my favorites. Made me think of my dad singing this to me when I was a kid and brought a tear to my eye. Miss him dearly. And back then Im sure there was some kind of competition but they could all sing and play. So many great bands from the 70s and 80s. This was off their 3rd album and was released in 1974.
Yes! Paul Rodgers is one of THE FINEST rock vocals ever. In fact, he toured with Queen after Freddie Mercury passed away. Ready for Love and Feel Like Makin' Love were two more of the makeout songs from my high school years. I was lucky enough to see Bad Company back in 1980 or 1981 when I was in high school. My favorite is Shooting Star which was written to honor Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin and Jim Morrison who died way before their time because of booze & drugs. The album Bad Company (that this song is on) was released in 1974 and I remember that was the first album I ever purchased with my allowance money because my mom thought it was devil music (I was 10 years old and still have the original vinyl). They were on par with The Who, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones (in my opinion) and selling out arenas wherever they played.
They had to rename the band when their drummer became a heroine addict and they "started" over. According to label rules a certain number or original members have to be part of the band or they have to change the name.
as mentioned, "Shooting Star" is a must from them. another killer tune i've not seen mentioned is "Fire and Water." there's a KILLER live version on here that has Paul Rogers (the singer here, whose voice is still awesome) as a guest performer with Joe Banamassa. THEY TEAR IT UP.
"Feel Like Makin Love" is a great one Another great Blues Rock artist to check out some day, is ole George Thorogood. Most known for Bad to the Bone, but has some other great hits. A personal favorite, "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"
The entire debut album...!!! "Don't Let Me Down" "Movin On" "Seagull" "Silver Blue And Gold" "Gone Gone Gone" "Runnin With The Pack" "Rock N Roll Fantasy" Are some of my fav's
It always amazes me when people haven’t heard music that’s part of me, I grew up with this music and it never get old! I can remember sitting in my bedroom listening to my album, taking me somewhere else...love it!
So you must have realized by now that all these amazing "classic rock" songs you've been reacting to all came out, in general, between like 1967-1978. As Homer Simpson once said - correctly - "Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact." He's right.
Yes. My favs are Ready for Love" "Feel like Making love" and for a sad song, "Is That All There Is to Love?". It's all about the love....album was mid 70s I think
I've started appreciating and noticing things about old songs I've heard a million times by your reactions. Like "Oh yeah, that is a cool part isn't it?!"
Scott Meister ... Really!? I didn’t know that. I don’t know much about LED Zeppelin or their drummer. Didn’t John Bonham die recently though? We seem to be losing a lot of greats lately, several from Coronavirus. Sad 🥺.
I was 7 when this came out. My parents were separated. My dad had this on a hot pink 8 track and when he'd come to pick us up for weekend visits I would immediately pop this into his 8 track player. Such great memories.
Man, you just keep knocking em down. Thank you for "bringing us joy" as you so often say. Waking up to new reactions from you is the best part of my quarantined days. Now, PLEASE move on the one of the original supergroups...Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young) Suite Judy Blue Eyes Wooden Ships Carry On Southern Cross Much love to you my brother!
Check out Bad Companies song “Silver, Blue And Gold.” Kind of a mellow but nice song. Keep up the great work! And who cares about the trolls. They are miserable and angry people that would not say what they say to your face but on the computer they will. We like what you do! I like that you are listening to the music us older folks listened to.
It's the blues, straight out of England! English blues has its own flavour! Early 70s, still going. Can't Get Enough (of your love) is something you probably heard and it's great.
“I felt the stank comin…..” LOVE that this dude digs this song- his reaction is EXACTLY what it should be. If you’ve never been on 2 wheels with a gang of outlaws listening to this, BRAAAAAPIN down the road- you ain’t done shit.
"IT' is because of the singer Paul Rodgers. His vocals are still as good as it was when his music was recorded if not better. Start at the beginning with Free his band with Paul Kosoff on guitar....Any song with paul on vocals is worth a listen
I've always loved the "live" sound of this album. It wasn't over produced at all. It almost sounds like you could be in the studio hearing it as they recorded
Great songs are like a novel. This song immediately takes you into the wild west......from a British band. Bad Company was a staple on the FM rock stations for decades! Still is.

I was just going out and I found you had uploaded this so just had to sit down and listen and like. Jamal my man, dude, so good. Paul Rodgers on vocals, brilliant singer. Their record label was "swan song" which as you know is Led Zeppelin. That tells you all you need to know how good they are. Can't get enough of Bad Company, which happens to be the first track title from this album. According to my CD notes it was released on June 26, 1974 in the UK. Recorded at Headley Grange November 1973 where ZEP recorded Parts of Led Zeppelin's albums Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV. Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti were composed and/or recorded at Headley Grange. Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant wrote most of the lyrics to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" there in a single day.The Led Zeppelin song "Black Dog," which, like Stairway, appeared on Led Zeppelin IV, was named after a black Labrador Retriever which was found hanging around Headley Grange during recording. According to Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page: Headley Grange was somewhat rundown; the heating didn't work. But it had one major advantage. Other bands had rehearsed there and hadn't had any complaints.
Bad Co is the ONLY band ever on Swan Song label. Tells you whay Jimmy thought of Paul Rogers who is also the lead singer of The Firm who's lead guitarist is coincidentally JIMMY PAGE. Paul also did a couple of tours with Queen after Freddie passed and did those songs well too.
@@jidypowell8783 There were others on Swan Song, Dave Edmunds comes to mind. I also know Robert Plant's single work in the early 80s was also still on it.
He is known as "The Voice"". One of rock's greatest singers.

Recommendation: Bad Company song: "Shooting Star"
Definitely. ❤
YES!!!!
Great song!
It was in the movie Wonderland - great song!
That's the song I was going to suggest. It's so damn good.
My favorite song. 46 years old and still a masterpiece.
Paul Rodgers has one of the smoothest voices in rock history!!
When Led Zeppelin started their own record label (Swan Song) in 1973 this album was their first US release.
Love me some Paul Rodgers! What a man and voice! Goosebumps when you hear his voice live! 💞✌
Paul Rodgers is one of the most underrated singers in rock.
Absolutely!
By who? People are always throwing out the XXX is the most underrated----------- in rock. As many fans as this baand has, I wouldn't call him underrated.
Totally agree!
As is Andre Mattos of Shaman - listen to Fairy Tale
UNDERRATED? Only from people who live under a rock!
"Shooting Star" is a beautiful song about what can happen when you get what you ask for.
love that song to
Paul Rodgers and Eric Burdon...
Best songs, "Feel like making Love", "Shooting Star" and "Ready for Love" amongst others.
Those 3 are probably their best to do in this venue.
Definitely! 👍 All good tracks! Wore out 2 cassettes of this album in the 80s-90s. 😏
Paul Rogers sang for a lot of great bands ...Free, bad co, ,the Firm (w/jimmy page from zeppelin) even sang with Queen after Freddy passed
Check out Pete Frame's rock n roll family trees.
Paul Rodgers, the singer: Deep Purple wanted him back in 1973. He was that good.
He never was with Deep Purple but Free before this band
@@TheHk1966 "back" as in the past, not as in returning, as he never was in Deep Purple
Trust me... “Rock and Roll Fantasy”, “Youngblood”, and *definitely* “Live for the Music”
Gone, gone, gone off the same album as RnR fantasy, also a good one
Gauntletwielder don’t forget Electric Land, Silver, Blue and Gold, etc
Paul Rogers is widely recognized as having THE BEST rock voice
One of the best for sure. Rub in a little Chris Cornell and Geoff Tate and now you're talking.
Paul Rogers voice is so undistorted, so very crisp & clear
While I agree he is one of the best voices in Rock .... But "the best" .... Hard to agree with that when the likes of Freddy Mercury walked this planet
Paul Rogers was also the first replacement vocalist Queen used after Freddy Mercury died
@ted ritola you got all the great bands named
Great singer, wrong band.
In the industry they call Paul Rodgers “The Voice” lol. My favorite male vocalist along with Plant🤟
maybe one reason why him and page formed the firm.
1973. "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" "Rock and Roll Fantasy" "Feel Like Makin' Love". Contemporaries are The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac.
And Led Zeppelin
@@williamjordan5554 Bad Co. was signed to Led Zeppelin's label, Swan Song.
He cant do Eagles reactions. INSTANT copyright. Tragic
@@Leftylobber Nor any Don Henley solo stuff, for the same reason. Leaves a HUGE HOLE in understanding what the the '70s & '80s were all about.
Paul rogers singing simple man live when hes in his 60’s. His voice aged like a fine wine.
I can't explain, but I really enjoy do watching the reactions to the songs of my youth (born 1960 - listening to Bad Company in 70's).
I think I'm just glad to see that younger generations can enjoy the awesome music put out in that era.
PS
Bob Seger may be the only artist that sang about old time rock and roll while actually creating some old time rock and roll himself.
Same. I'm born in 61 and I love love love watching the reactions to all the music that formed the backdrop to my life. I also love a lot of new stuff and make a point of listening to new music. Currently mad about Steve lacy , live without your love.
Bad Company: "Rock n Roll Fantasy" & "Feel like Makin Love"
Adore "Feel Like Makin' Love!"
@@nandarox528 I wish I could love this comment!
Don't forget Shooting Star
Classic Rock with a little taste of Blues mixed in with it.
YES! YES! YES!
“Feel like Makin’ Love” and “Shooting Star!!”👏🏼💛🤘🏼✌️
This album came out in 1973. This is another one of those albums i wore out in my teen years great music. YOU MUST do their song "feel like makin love".
One of my favorites. Made me think of my dad singing this to me when I was a kid and brought a tear to my eye. Miss him dearly. And back then Im sure there was some kind of competition but they could all sing and play. So many great bands from the 70s and 80s. This was off their 3rd album and was released in 1974.
Ready for love!
Shooting Star
Silver, Blue, Gold
Feel like makin love
Can’t get enough of your love
Rock and roll fantasy
Holy Water
Yes!!! All of those!!!
You forgot Running With The Pack!!
Robert Fitterman I know. I figured someone would cover my back
Also:
Rock Steady
Don't Let Me Down
Burnin' Sky
Simple Man
Jamel....give a listen to the band Free, the song "All Right Now" they were the prelude to Bad Co. And prepare for a little funky bass
I saw Free they opened fir Rod Stewart. I was a freshman in high school. They were fantastic
Or "Fire and Water" - another great song from yesterday.
"Feel Like Makin Love" is a great one
Another great Blues Rock artist to check out some day, is ole George Thorogood. Most known for Bad to the Bone, but has some other great hits. A personal favorite, "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"
Another George Thorogoode song he should also check out is "Move It On Over"
Otherwise known as the House Rent Blues.
Oh yeah.... Jemel needs to experience some George and the Delaware Destroyers!

❤Paul Rogers❤ Huge catalogue of music! "Shooting Star" "Silver Blue & Gold"
I'd say he was off by two years - I vote for 1976. But yeah.
I graduated from high school in 1974
Is Homer ever wrong.
Not about music!
Homer graduated in '74 too!
One of the greatest debut albums ever, there is not a bad song on that album
Right up there with Boston....!
But still not a patch on Tons of Sobs.
Seagul is my favorite!
Absolutely.
True!
You might recognize "Feel Like Makin' Love", or "Shooting Star" - my personal favorite is "Ready for Love" 🥰
I find my self doing the samething.
They have some great songs and this is one of them. “Shooting Star” is another. My favorite 👏🏻🥰‼️
Diane Fiske-Foy Shooting Star was written about their friend, LED Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham.
1974 , straight up Rock, songs: Can't get enough of your love, feel like making love. Shooting Star, rock n roll fantasy.
Man, you just keep knocking em down. Thank you for "bringing us joy" as you so often say. Waking up to new reactions from you is the best part of my quarantined days.
Now, PLEASE move on the one of the original supergroups...Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young)

Lenny Valure I asked him on his instagram to at least do “Ohio”, since this month is the 50th anniversary of Kent State....🤞🤞

I think he would love the crazy harmonies on Carry On

Whenever i hear this song. In my mind i see the opening scenes of The Outlaw Josie Wales.
"Shooting Star" if you want to follow Seger's "Turn the Page" story of the rock n roll life.

"Running with the Pack" - Bad Company. Yaaaass...
YES
great tune - Also love Silver, Blue and Gold.
Start your Paul Rodgers journey with Free “All Right Now” & with The Firm “Radioactive”
I had suggested he start with "FREE" before he hit on Bad Co also.
I suggested "The Stealer" and "Fire & Water".
The Firm - Satisfaction Guaranteed

One of the great debut albums of all time. Never forget the first time I heard it.
Love that song....never knew it back then but know it now!
One of my MOST favorite songs!
It's the blues, straight out of England! English blues has its own flavour!
Early 70s, still going.
Can't Get Enough (of your love) is something you probably heard and it's great.
Oh yeah that's a great song 👍
“I felt the stank comin…..” LOVE that this dude digs this song- his reaction is EXACTLY what it should be. If you’ve never been on 2 wheels with a gang of outlaws listening to this, BRAAAAAPIN down the road- you ain’t done shit.
Mid 70's
Try "Can't get enough" and "Feel like Makin' love" by the same band 👌🏻
"IT' is because of the singer Paul Rodgers. His vocals are still as good as it was when his music was recorded if not better. Start at the beginning with Free his band with Paul Kosoff on guitar....Any song with paul on vocals is worth a listen
I've always loved the "live" sound of this album. It wasn't over produced at all. It almost sounds like you could be in the studio hearing it as they recorded
Paul normally did vocals in one take.
This is a band that you can just drive for hours to and forget about where you're going
This song always had a western, cowboy feel to me.
According to band, they based it off the movie "The Outlaw Josie Wales"
There is also a western/reimagined western movie from 70s that used this song and it's also named "bad company"
Civil War, songs about Confederate soldiers deserting and becoming outlaws.
This song was used as Josh Brolin's theme song in the Young Riders when he played Wild Bill Hickok.
Not really southern rock but i always think of southern rock when i hear them, reminds me of skynyrd and all those bands around while growing up
I used to listen to this song in my fathers car with him all the time when we were driving. Takes me back there whenever I hear it.
i think it was around 1975, when Zeppelin started their own record label , Bad Co were the 1st act they signed .
Swan Song Records with the famous falling Angel logo.
The band was formed in 1973, the album in question was released in 1974.
Yes...Dennis is absolutely correct.... they needed more to sign more bands to support the label
Plus they had the same manager as Led Zeppelin, Peter Grant...
Now for Paul Rodgers singing “all right now’ with the band Free
"Be My Friend"
The Stealer and Bodie 🙌🙌🙌
They have so many hits. Paul Rodgers who is the lead singer use to be in the band named Free who sang Alright Now.
'Alright Now' by Paul Rodgers' first band Free should also be checked out.
Paul Rodgers, the greatest rock vocalist of all time!
Great songs are like a novel.
This song immediately takes you into the wild west......from a British band. Bad Company was a staple on the FM rock stations for decades! Still is.
"Movin' On", shooting star, "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy"
ROCK N ROLL FANTASY WOULD BLOW HIM AWAY, The beginning is my favorite part, he needs to hear that..
The band was originally called Free and “ It’s Alright Now” is an epic groove!
While they share two members, Free and Bad Company are not in any way the same band. Free was all about guitarist Paul Kossoff.
They were 2 different bands, Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke were from Free, but Ralphs and Burrell were from Mott the Hoople and King Crimson, respectively
Karen, I do respect that you bring Paul Roger's "Free" to light.
Alright Now would be an excellent reaction song, though!
70's supergroup on Led Zeppelins swan song label...Rock n Roll fantasy, Movin' on, Can't get enough, shooting star would all be great reaction songs

@@kianpa1 I "listened" to it often in the 90's.
Riding in my buddy's Tiger, "1973 inches" looking for a Chevy to terrorize, Bad Co comes on the radio. He says "have u heard this song?" My 1st time and it changed me forever........ Rock and Roll!
According to Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page:
Headley Grange was somewhat rundown; the heating didn't work.
