When I heard Jack Bruce (vocal and bass) with Cream 53 years ago, it lit the musical fire in me and I've been playing guitar ever since. Cream and Jack will always be my favorites!!
It really hurts to be told you have no talent from something. Sometimes it's true and sometimes it's not. I guess Jack proved his teacher wrong with Sunshine of Your Love and some other very distinctive Cream songs. I like the bit about Bach as the greatest bass player ever.
That's what they were called. The Cream or Cream, either one works. They technically were the Cream, meaning the best of the best. Cream is just short for The Cream
Bill Brasky I thought he just said The Cream which is also what they were known as. I know their albums just say Cream. That's because they just made it as short as possible, for they were considered "The Cream of The Crop" meaning best of the best outside of their albums. In all BBC sessions the host says "The Cream" as well.
Many bands had The in their names. The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, etc so it kind of became habit to call bands without The as The-. Many interviewers called Led Zeppelin, The Led Zeppelin and same happened to Pink Floyd.
I think those are edited in from Ginger's (and Eric's) interview, falsely to make it look like they were listening to Jack. If you look at Ginger's face he looks like he's listening to a question (probably about the drums) and about to respond before the camera cuts back to Jack. That whole Farwell concert is one big cluster fuck of an editing mess.
Bruce's wonderful version of "School's Out Forever!" - the heart of the song that is.School definitely damages the greatest young or old *souls as they open up the depths of forever relevant feelings from carried memories from long ago --and far into the future. He survived..his lyrics were trippy in that era.. meaingful now..absolutely. I can only speak for early Cream- that music was loaded with bits of old tales going back in centuries, or borrowed from old tales..( + probably not taught in school/?)we are better for his classy style.yes. On a sideline, any great band-scuffles are only signs of great talents working for greatness.in a powerful group of individuals that must collide ..and survive, -- at least thru a few years..--for all to be heard --if not as dreams demand --but souls can find a way.
He took strict classical music lessons and what he says is true about those teachers. They are like robots, unless there is the sheet music in front of them they can not make any music or improvise, they must have the sheet music and you have to do just what they say in the music lessons and they are not open minded to any other type of music except classical.
this man is good playing, but is believed to be the best, and do not really like his playing .. I prefer to listen to CHARLIE WATTS is a machine! who speaks ill of the stones and the largest of its true lavender (cream) all know that was Clapton ...
Jack Bruce is basically laying down the attitude and direction of future Prog Rock. Cream were an important band on so many levels.

Got to laugh at Ginger Baker every time the camera is on him he laughs like if to say shut up .
