This gift was a dream come true for the WEC. They have only one car less than the F1 grid, and have a variety of aerodynamic concepts, as well as engines. The only thing I didn't like about this year's WEc was its BoP. It seems that Toyota plays in another league, and that can lead to destroying the championship, we need cars that compete for victories in other rounds of the WEC, not always Toyota. Ferrari at Le Mans was exceptional. But today I am very happy to see this Group C grid..... sorry! from the WEC!
I think there is a 38 car limit so if it was allowed, vanwhell could have joined, making it 20 and in 2025 aston and maybe honda join as well… there is not enough space . Also toyota has had some severe bop disadvantages but just stays the best, the rest will catsh up , give it some time!
In all honesty, I don't think the BoP is that large of an issue, and this is coming from a neutral (Aston Martin) fans perspective. It isn't perfect and does need some work especially between the LMH and LMDh cars but at the first 5 rounds the BoP was great, at Fuji and Bahrain the BoP was alright. Jota when in clean air was on par with the Toyotas, but struggled to pass cars early due to lower top speeds. But also apart from Peugeot, Toyota is the only team that I know of who has raced or even tested at Bahrain and Fuji so them being ahead isn't that big of an issue, also Toyota have had 2 years extra to learn how to run the car so next year and the following years Ferrari, Porsche, Cadillac will all close up from more knowledge. BoP is about having everyone's potential fastest laps be equal or as close to equal as you can get with different cars, if Toyota are the only ones who can actually get to the potential pace they shouldn't be hampered for it.
@@susswinnennope. There is no limit on how many cars on track in FIAWEC. Take a look at IMSA 9 years ago. In one race in 2014 IMSA Season, there are at least 64 cars across all 3 classes (DPi, LMP2, and GTD).

It's a real shame LMP2 is gone from WEC. Whatever interview with whichever driver that had a chance to race the Oreca 07 Gibson prototype I watched - they all hailed it as one of the greatest racing machines ever. On the other hand, we'll get to see those cars and their full potential in ELMS (without the restrictions on hp and minimum weight that were in place for WEC), so that's that at least. It would actually be so cool to see an LMP2 making a guest appearance at LeMans, racing the hypercars. From what I've heard, in the recent years, the whole category has been massively held back, just so that they wouldn't pull off lap times quicker than the top category. Anyways, that's not gonna happen... would be cool to see though :)

I hope the same as you too fella. 🤞🤞 Vanwall did mention a week or so ago that they'd be switching out the Gibson V8 for a turbo unit that's a "proven quantity" so my hope is they bolt that sucker in the back and spend 2024 getting the car right for a 2025 return. Plus the WEC announced that 2025 will allow for 40 entries, Vanwall can hopefully be one of them along with the Valkyries. 💪💪
Kinda sad that GTs don't have full Pro drivers but are limited to only 1 gold driver, 1 silver driver and 1 bronze driver. Kinda makes the GT3 less interesting.
I’m in shock about Mercedes and Audi but what I’ve noticed is that all the teams/manufacturers they let in were already in WEC last year or have committed to running a HyperCar this year or next. Aston Martin will have the Valkyrie, BMW is stepping up this year, Ferrari, Proton, Lamborghini, Porsche all have Hypercars. United Autosports, TF Sport was in WEC last year, and Lexus is basically Toyota (helps that Jose Maria Lopez is with the team as well). With Marchello leaving Mercedes, and WRT switching from Audi to BMW it left those two manufacturers without factory support for its teams. I don’t see why they couldn’t have given them each 1 entry as the shortest track/smallest garage would be Interlagos, but they have to cut it somewhere I guess
The ACO and FIA gave preference to the brands with Hypercar entries, and for the non-hypercar brand they gave preference to the brands that stayed loyal to the championship in recent years, like Ford for example, which is reasonable. The only exception is McLaren, but United Autosports, the team that will run the McLaren entries, is owned by Zak Brown who also has a stake in McLaren and the team stayed loyal to the championship for several years in the LMP2 class. Mercedes didnt take part in WEC in any season and doesnt compete in Le Mans since 1999, and Audi kinda "betrayed" the championship when they cancelled their LMDh program in 2021 to compete in F1 in 2026. If there were more space they would let them join but with such limited space and alot of manufacturers wanting to join in both classes, this criteria makes sense, it rewards the effort you put into the championship previously.
Audi shut down their sports car division in favour of F1 and laid off all their drivers so not surprised about that one! Perhaps the ACO is playing hardball with Merc to get them to enter a hypercar :)
I hope Heart of Racing have a good season mostly because I enjoy Paul Charlesly on the Park Ferme podcast. I also really loved Rossi for what he he did for MotoGP but in GT racing he's kind of average (not bad by any means) and I do wonder if WEC will show him up (I do really really hope I'm wrong though).
I haven't been this excited about sport car enduring racing since the late 90s, before Audi started to dominate the series. Between WEC, MotoGP and Indycar, I might not even bother watching F1 next year unless something uncommon happen in a race.
Freaking me out seeing teams that have flipped, as an Aston fan a TF sport Corvette sounds wrong same for the Iron crew and Lambo. cant wait for Valkyrie, already planning to go from Oz to Fuji for Sept 25......
As a diehard fan of Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, sad to see no Glickenhaus and Vanwall on the 2024 WEC grid. But i am happy all the same that McLaren, Valentino Rossi, and Mick Schumacher, and Makima (Setsuna Yuki from Chainsaw Man) finally joining FIA WEC for 2024!
I would like to know why there was not room for Vanwell this year but they have already said there is room for 2 Astons next season... Its very disapointing as there is a lot of money, effort, jobs etc gone into the Vanwell and it is the only series it can race in. They could have sacrificed a space in GT3 as there is many GT3 series around the world these teams/cars can compete.. Screwing over a privateer team who has helped keep WEC/LMP1 together over the years is sad
Because the ACO simply doesn’t care. They are a shallow organisation that care only for their interests. In their mind the Vanwall would’ve been making the new class look bad so they cut them. They are just a bunch of hypocrites who demand loyalty from GT3 manufacturers whilst denying a privateer that has been there for 15 years like you said
I'm surprised McLaren made the cut considering they never took WEC seriously since the 90s. ig because of Audi stopping support, Glick pulling out, Vanwall being too slow, and merc and honda seemingly not caring at all everything just aligned perfectly for them.
i can`t wait for the 2024 season with this entrylist And i am happy to see Rossi in LMGTE, Robert Kubica and Mick Schumacher in Hypercar class. But i wanna see more Cadillacs, i love the V8 sound
No more Vanwall by unpopular opinion all hype no pace. They're slightly faster than lmp2 which is not a good thing. They're unreliable always last on its class. They embarrassed themselves so much that they had to pull out the entry.
Ya kinda wonder.... 🤔 Will AUDI get an itch that needs a scratch and possibly return to the WEC... I know I know there getting into F1 (i think there still on the fence about getting into F1) but what do I know.. i still think AUDI will return to WEC 🤞. What do you all think????

Why Mercedes didn't join the LMGT3 class?
I haven't been this excited about sport car enduring racing since the late 90s, before Audi started to dominate the series. Between WEC, MotoGP and Indycar, I might not even bother watching F1 next year unless something uncommon happen in a race.
Freaking me out seeing teams that have flipped, as an Aston fan a TF sport Corvette sounds wrong same for the Iron crew and Lambo. cant wait for Valkyrie, already planning to go from Oz to Fuji for Sept 25......
I never thought I’d say this but it’s now better & more exciting than F1.
They are just a bunch of hypocrites who demand loyalty from GT3 manufacturers whilst denying a privateer that has been there for 15 years like you said
@@motorsportfan1246 Glad it isn't just me thinking this.
I'm surprised McLaren made the cut considering they never took WEC seriously since the 90s. ig because of Audi stopping support, Glick pulling out, Vanwall being too slow, and merc and honda seemingly not caring at all everything just aligned perfectly for them.
It's because the McLarens will be run by United Autosport which was previously in LMP2.
Bring back the Bentley 😢it was nice to see a fellow boat float pass other cars
Would be great to see Kubica and Yifey Ye back together -> those 2 have some unfinished business at LeMans...
This third Ferrari risks disturbing other manufacturers who have two cars, I am thinking in particular of Toyota and Peugeot.
El año 2024 va ser extraordinario faltan audi y mercedes benz en las dos categorias
i can`t wait for the 2024 season with this entrylist
And i am happy to see Rossi in LMGTE, Robert Kubica and Mick Schumacher in Hypercar class.
But i wanna see more Cadillacs, i love the V8 sound
What is missing is Honda with Accura ARX-06
They have no interested in running WEC unless they confident they can competitive with Toyota
I'm sure they'll be there in 2025
FORZA FERRARI
I'm happy that ByKolles, Audi and Mercedes are not here!
Still what happened to Audi? and mercedes
Audi shut down all their sports car operations effective at the end of this year. They're putting their focus on F1 apparently.
Farewell Vanwall and Glickenhaus 🫡
Mclaren is a:
-British company
-British manufacture
-British Brand
-New Zealand nameplate
Why 12 number Tom Brady ?
No more Vanwall by unpopular opinion all hype no pace. They're slightly faster than lmp2 which is not a good thing. They're unreliable always last on its class. They embarrassed themselves so much that they had to pull out the entry.
Remind me please guy - when was the last time when we had NINETEEN cars in the top class at the 24h Le Mans?
Group C
Petition to let race Vanwall and Glickenhaus in Imsa
Well, lets see how the "Automobile club de l'est" ACO will deal with just 37 entries... we had 55-60 cars in the last decades
Forget F1 let's have some real racing.😊
Imagine ford brings the Ford GT40
more hypercar than LMGT3 makes me mad
Ya kinda wonder.... 🤔 Will AUDI get an itch that needs a scratch and possibly return to the WEC... I know I know there getting into F1 (i think there still on the fence about getting into F1) but what do I know.. i still think AUDI will return to WEC 🤞. What do you all think????
