If Bungie has been planning story like this since House of Wolves I would be so astounded. The foreshadowing is incredible. If this is the case I would be so much happier if we got fewer DLCs in exchange for them being of higher quality.

With the recent reveal of Uldren being a guardian, this might be able to be re looked at. That white haired awoken might just be Uldren of the light.

When I read the last one, i thought the "slaughter" and "ten thousanddyingwishes" I thought of the great hunt and the -wish-dragons being slaughtered. The children. I was thinking the nine were the oldest wishdragons and all their children were slaughtered
I think the dreamer might be an ahamkara. Motion to vacate mentions dying wishes, hallucinations and the slaughter. These keywords relate to the ahamkara: dying wishes, the ahamkara are literally wish dragons. Hallucinations, the bones of the ahamkara caused hallucinations referenced in the sealed ahamkara grasp’s flavour text and finally the slaughter, the great hunt is the first thing that came to mind when i saw this. Im just theorising but it can go unsaid how these three points are of relevance.

Exactly, but he ignored that point(even when it's been made by so many others) because it doesn't directly support his theory.
He left it out because it makes no sense. The Traveller literally has nothing to do with this expansion, and the word dreamer doesn't describe the Traveller well. The traveller has awoken, why would it be referred to as a "Dreamer"? The Queen has many more links to Forsaken in terms of characters, story, and setting. Byf also shows multiple pieces of text that link the word Dreamer to the Queen, and explains why they could make sense. I'm not saying his theory is right, but its actually plausible compared to the Traveller being the Dreamer. Watch the whole video.
AJ Kolawole Well yeah it could be referring to the traveler, but seeing that the new location is the Dreaming City, plus all the odd ties between the Queen and The Nine, I think it could refer to either. I guess we’ll just have to see.
AJ Kolawole In Lovecraftian mythos. Cthulhu is often referred to as The Great Dreamer i think. Maybe its referring to a God or other wordly being. I havent watched the video yet but thats what i think of regarding dreamer.

The Reef and the Queen story arcs are some of my favorite Destiny lore. So happy they are expanding on this.
man, I'm so glad i got to see someone actually look out the damn window at 19:33. what. the hell. is THAT thing? it looks pretty hive-like, and given how _crusty_ everything in that initial spawn space appears to be I'd be willing to say The Drifter is going to have some seriously neat worldbuilding attached to him, much like Efrideet and her pacifist Guardian colony. Just a small note of grammar that could maybe add just a little tiny bit to the idea that the queen is dead is the verb tense the Queen uses in the cinematic at the beginning of the Take King.
She says, "The Awoken have played their part..."
The Queen uses the past perfect tense (have played) instead of using the future conditional tense (will have played). Just grammatically it makes sense that she is alive because she is speaking about an event from the past and how can someone speak about the past if they're dead?
SeventhColumn77 _ the real question should be, how could a person speak about ANYTHING if they are dead.
Coming back to watch this after jumping back in post-Crow is deeply satisfying and really shows just how much weight the fragility between truth and fiction is bearing. The Ahamkara have absolutely made art of lying with the truth.

I really hope that all this talk about the story extending into the dreaming city isn't just the raid. Like, I want it to be an explorable zone with all the things every other zone has. Some adventures, some patrols, public events, maybe some collectables, and whatever new stuff they've got planned. I don't mind doing raids once in a while, but it's really not my thing. Like, I'll do it once or twice to see it, but I've volunteered for the bottom slot on my clans raid queue because it's not my cup of tea.

Pretty sure it has been confirmed that patrols, adventures, etc. are accessible in the Dreaming City.

It's fun looking at back at your theories. You do a great job of getting a lot of stuff correct. I think it would be fun to revisit a few of these. Like this one where you discounted 'Brother as an ally' now that we know what we know.

Byf, I’d like to toss you a startling idea a friend of mine had while we were discussing why I changed my allegiance from Dead Orbit to Future War Cult.
Dead Orbit’s ultimate goal is to leave our solar system and colonize new worlds, and throughout D1 I always supported those ideals. However, when Ghaul and the Red Legion attacked the Tower, I didn’t understand how we were caught so off-guard. I said to my friend that “Surely, if Dead Orbit intends to colonize new worlds, they would have a fleet of large colonial ships. I can’t image that they intend for us to travel to and colonize new worlds in just our measly Jumpships. If Dead Orbit had a standing fleet of large ships, then how were they unable to detect the Red Legion’s approach?”
That’s when my friend said to me, “Well, what if Dead Orbit didn’t want to warn the City? What if they wanted the City to be destroyed as a way to incentivize people to join their cause and leave Earth behind?” I thought this theory was both plausible and distressing. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the subject. Thanks for taking the time, and have a good one, Byf.

When it says “ally once more” for prince uldren I don’t think it’s referring to us as the allies. This could be referencing how he joined with the barons
The default awoken dance's text is a quote from Petra saying that awoken dance in remembrance of their queen.
The Dreamer might be the Traveller, one of the official songs in the D2 Ost say "Traveler's Dream" , In an Osiris weapon prophecy he states that "in the truth of light it dreams" referring to the visitor (traveler). And the Traveler is always mentioned as awakened after the end of the D2 Campaign.

I agree with this theory 10000000%. I even said that Eris is working with the Queen or the Nine at the end of TTK when she took the shard of Oryx sword. Mara also says something like "Guide them, my hidden friend. It is all up to you now." I think she was talking about Eris. She also says "You and I know how this ends. We've known since you escaped that pit."
I personally think the shotgun lore tab is talking about the Great Hunt. We killed them and now have the traveller. The "construct" that was not ours to have as far as they thought.
I know that this is off topic but I replayed D1's campaign the other day, and noticed that Uldren's betrayal was under our noses all along. there's an interaction between the Queen and Uldren in D1 after you deliver the gatelord's head where Uldren says "If you wish them death then just kill them here" to which the Queen replies "often when we guess other's motives we only reveal only our own".
i have a good re-imagination (or speculation) about what may happen in Destiny 3, this is why i think is going to happen so there will be a sudden attack by the triangular pyramid ships and our guardian barely survives and all the vanguard, crucible masters and the rest die, then travels as fast as he can to Anna Brea in the icy caps in Mars to tell Anna to try to activate Rasputin this temporarily holds them back but then the pyramids attack Rasputin and destroys him and Anna dies with him then you travel to Mercury and try to get help from Osiris to travel back in time to stop the attack but Osiris proposes even if your guardian does travel they wont be powerful enough to stop them so you and Osiris confront the Nine and their idea is to travel back in time and to get hero's from the past and you will attack the Darkness (this will explain how Saint-14 meets the guardian) and with the help of hero's from the past such as the Queen, Cayde 6, and the stranger and many copies of yourself (I think this is when you travel to the vault of glass which would be super cool) and then you travel to the present and destroy the darkness and the main mind of the darkness may be the raid Boss. this is not a theory because there isn't evidence but this is just speculation.
It is possible that Mission to Vacate is actually referring to the Great Ahamkara hunt, if we only focus on that lore tab, along with Sealed Ahamkara Grasps, and ignore the other two Warmind Trials weapon tabs.
I've had suspicions about something since the launch of Destiny 2 but could never find any lore to back up my gut feelings, although the stuff that you mentioned here seems to lean in that direction. I've thought for a long time that Mara is actually a surviving Ahamkara, maybe the only one. It would explain a few things. The initial reluctance of the Awoken to allow guardians from the city into their borders, the Queen and her brother's knowledge of the Black Garden and how to enter it, and Eris' seemingly loyalty to her. The line in the lore tab that you mention, "Ten thousand dying wishes" could support this if the Nine are linked not to the Awoken but to the Ahamkara. The text seems to suggest they stayed their hand at whatever slaughter happened. Perhaps, during the Hunt, one Ahamkara escaped, and was bold enough to make itself Queen of the Awoken. It could explain the 9's perceived animosity to the Queen. Just something that I thought of, I have no idea whether or not this is complete BS or not, but it seems to fit the pieces together somewhat.
I think the Dreaming City is cut content from Destiny 1. It is where the original raid location was supposed to be for the House of Wolves expansion which was replaced by POE.
I think motion to vacate could also reference Uldrens slaughter of the awoken people and him being controlled by riven. And its like an argument between him and riven. He thinks he shouldnt have killed them, riven thinks it was mercy. Etc etc

I think the brother refers to variks, as he was a brother in arms but he started seemingly to help the fallen but now he will possibly be on our side again
I believe everything in there is spot on. That includes the puppet being Eris but I don't think for an instant that the art work is the queen. It is likely a vendor type npc for the expansion. A high level Awoken of some sort. Would love to see the cut scene of Eris walking in to the court of the nine.....

I think that the slaughter refers to the destruction of hundreds of colony ships fleeing the system, the wreckage of which became the reef.
Without videos like this....I would have no clue about the destiny universe outside of the gameplay

That figure could be Hallam Fen, one of the Awoken Paladins based off the flavour text for the scout rifle Vouchsafe.
The person talking in all caps is definitely an ahamkara that made a deal with the nine. Maybe the wish was to give the nine their own personal universe...? ( the unknown space in an unknown galaxy where the third spire is) that's why in the lore tab of the motion to suppress one person (possibly the emissary) asks "how did you find us" and in the lore for motion to vacate the person in all caps (the analysts in my theory) says "we should be picked otherwise" meaning that maybe it regrets making a deal with the nine. This is my theory. Sorry if it's confusing.

The Nine "weighting" the plan could also be a reference to the Harbingers. We still have no idea what they truly are.
The last one could be referring to the Ahamkara Hunt, and the Dreamer could be a surviving ahamkara.

When I read these lore tabs, I thought about "the Queen" being referenced as Savathun rather than Mara. In this case, Eris could still be the messenger with the scar as she could have been working for Savathun the entire time (hence why she left after we killed Oryx). Used the Guardians to get rid of Oryx so Savathun could rule. Savathun was more philosophical of the three so could be referenced as a "dreamer". Now that we have the Dreaming City coming up, I feel like this theory might be a little less relevant. Still could be an option though as there's always been speculation that Oryx had contact with the Nine in the past (XXXII: Majestic, Majestic) so maybe they've been watching the Hive all along?

I’m a huge fan of your content and I felt like it might be good to point out the direct connection between the Nine referencing “10,000 dying wishes,” “our children,” and “stolen constructs.” If the Ahmkara are the polar opposites of the worm gods wouldn’t it make sense that the Nine would be the most powerful Ahmkara in existence? That would explain the birth of the awoken as the dragons might’ve created them from the humans who were trying to flee the system during the collapse and thus led to the creation of the reef. That would link the awoken as the “children” of the Ahmkara” and their “10,000 dying wishes” would be their frantic, last minute attempts to commune with the dragons as they were obliterated by Oryx. I’d love to hear your thoughts so I’m praying for a response. 🙏🏽
When the text says "dreamer awakens" it probably means that when oryx's super weapon went off the queen was taken but after Oryx died the queen went back to the dreaming city and all the taken corruption in the clips of the dreaming city is her presence growing stronger and with the guardians there already killing prince uldron the awoken ask us to help them get rid of the taken but then we end up in the raid somehow cleansing the queen
I have a theory what if the Nine have Ahamkara in their ranks who see/predict the future and Mara Sov being injured forgot she's queen, standard troupe hero/heroine forgetting their past, making her the "dreamer" and explains the new look who we help "awaken" and bring order to the choas of the Reef. Just a thought I had.

Dreamer. Dreaming City. Prison. Prison of elders. There is supposed to be a power greater than Uldren in the dlc. What if it is an Ahamkhara? Even better, a Taken Ahamkhara. There are Taken blights around the Dreaming City from what I have seen of it. Maybe it is a bit far fetched, but it would be awesome!
I won't wholly disagree here. I do believe Mara Sov is alive and I do think it has something MAJOR to do with the Dreaming City. I also believe the trespasser mentioned in Motion to Suppress is Eris Morn. I agree with you on most points with the exception of the identity of the Dreamer and the meaning behind Motion to Vacate.
I think the Dreamer is the Traveler. An enigmatic primordial entity that only wants to uplift civilizations. One that helps other species reach towards the stars. The Gardener has awoken, and while she still does nothing, she will have to soon. It's the Traveler's fight, too... and we will help her.
My views on Motion to Vacate are a stretch, to be sure, probably one of the biggest stretches. It also requires heavy explanation on how I view the Nine as being related to the Darkness and how everything fits together.
I have my doubts on my opinions on Motion to Vacate, I'll have to wait and see. But I can say one thing. While the Darkness is not nearly referenced as commonly as it was in D1, the mentions of it here paint it to be even more devastating when you put it all together. I used to believe there were 2 futures where the Vex won, but now I only believe there was one.

Perhaps they did not venture deep enough. There's a lot of machinery and the entire thing is 14 km in diameter. It may be impossible to get into the core without damaging it. And nobody wants to do that... sorry let me rephrase that. No human in the Last City nor anyone during the Golden Age wanted to do that.
I believe Mara is OF the nine. Her starting dialogue in the taken king “I remember everything of the day I was born, I still bare the scars....the awoken are my family now”. This tells me that she started as something or someone else.
I believe Eris is the messenger. One supporting evidence not mentioned is the cutscene at the conclusion of Taken King campaign when she takes the remnants of Oryx’s sword and says this interesting line about “my queen...”
Byf, Great video. My daughter and I were theorizing on the first truth and came up with this.
First, why would Bungie give away a major plot point in a trailer (Caydes death)? Maybe they didn’t really.
The idea is (obviously a stretch, but an interesting one):
The Nine decided to attack humanity.
We align with Uldren.
The Nine took control of or aligned with Rasputin.
Rasputin is able to control Exos.
We have to kill Cayde (the panning in the cut scene could be deceptive).
Rasputin is the raid boss.
Destiny 3 is the battle with the Nine.
They already confirmed Uldren 100% kills Cayde. Take your tinfoil hat and use it to make baked potatoes because that's what you sound like bruh. Lol that's not just a reach its impossible.
The music sounds alot like the music in Halo 2 during the mission where you go kill to prophet
I have some feeling that the "Dreaming City" may have parallels with the Hive's ascendant realms. If the Queen were physically killed outside she could awaken there. But it seems to be partially corrupted by the Taken, possibly as a result of Oryx's weapon.
Could motion to vacate be referring to the ahamkara? It's just it uses words used in the ahamkara lore tabs. Wishes, hallucinations (as in auditory hallucinations). The slaughter being referred to could be the guardians slaughtering the ahamkaras. If so that makes the lines about not being merciful rather ominous. This does have the rather large flaw that if the dreamer is Mara then theres no obvious connection but if the dreamer is the traveler then it starts making sense. The traveler was "asleep" and has now woken up. It got temporarily claimed by Ghaul and so could be considered to have fallen. This is further supported by the fact that the traveller and the ahamkara arrived at the same time, indicating they are linked.
This all does seem even more spinfoily though.

Uldren becomes a guardian, and possibly in a future dlc finds out want he did, and in a sense, sends his regards. Maybe trys to atone? Though, sending regards can also mean sending best wishes, so it can be a plan on.

So, to build on this theory, if Mara is "the dreamer" does that imply that she has some significant connection to the dreaming city? Perhaps, if the awoken indeed have a deeper connection to the nine, they also have some semblance of divine power. This whole "Dreaming City" thing just reminds me of Sotha-Sil's Clockwork City in Elder Scrolls online. I can't help but wonder if, perhaps, the dreaming city is somehow a reflection of our "real world", in which the Queen ensures her spoken of "plans" will come to fruition.

I think the deep dive that Joker did over at Darkside Royalty Lore really did a better job on the Lore dig. We are not asking the right question: that question is “What is Uldren’’s game? He wouldn’t kill the Hunter Vanguard unless there was a huge upside that far outweighed the negative, which is the tower’s best Guardian (you, the player) coming after him. Keep in mind that if Cayde-6’s death is teaser material, whatever the story has for us afterwards must be quite epic.

on the topic of WHY Uldren is working with the scorn. If the scorn are resurrected fallen, fallen who have died again and again and then we're brought back I believe it is possible that Uldren is looking for a way to bring back Mara(this only applies if you think the she is in fact dead). Necromancy being a rather taboo and rare art in the universe of destiny only being known too Nokris( which i personally believe has a role to play in the creation of the scorn but only because of his affinity to Necromancy)and in part to guardians. however a second theory is that the queen is in fact alive and in the dreaming city but corrupted somehow and Uldren is looking for Scorn secrets as to how to help her, which would make an AWESOME raid boss but this is predominantly gut feelings and the fact that Nokris was such a minor character in warmind but hey I'm not a Loremaster like byf here just thought I should put this out there.
What if the Dreamer is Prince Uldren? His dream being some sort of hope for the reef/queen, and "awoke" by taking matters into his own hands, trying to gain control of the reef with the barens. He is the only one officially confirmed to have survived the massecre of the awoken(though i think the queen is alive), and his falling could mean his turn to darkness or turn away from the reef.

"sends his regards" sounds like it was taken from Game of Thrones, and in the same meaning. So it is meaning Caydes death by Uldrens hand. The "light" going out within in the Prison is also Caydes Death. Simply put, Caydes light itself went out. That's my interpretation so far.
I think mara was the messenger, not the queen referenced. The Queen may in fact be refering to the Dreamer, the creator of the Awoken and whatever the Awoken Fallen/Eliskni is. Most likely that will be the raid boss.
i love the videos you make but just wanted to weigh in on this topic with my own personal thoughts on this particular subject, 1) on the lore tabs you brought up the first one i believe when they talk about fallen dynasty i believe that is the vestian dynasty, particularly uldren sov. my thoughts are that at the end of forsaken we kill uldren he is the story bad guy and we need closure on him for him killing cayde. since not every one raids in destiny im sure the company will want to give every one the chance to feel closure with cayde dying by letting every one kill uldren. i also believe that this is the case bc mara is mia believed to be dead or "sleeping" since she is not awake and not leading her people im sure uldren will use his grab for power to take control over the reef and take leadership from the mia mara. since he and his sister are not blood relatives, i feel he only followers her orders bc of the power she has but when the cat is away the mice do play. i believe uldren knows his sister is not dead but "sleeping" and before she can awake and reclaim her sovereignty i think uldren is doing the quickest way to get power. since he knows all awoken and fallen on the reef would bend the knee to his sister once he returns he needs power to hold on to being king for when mara wakes up. so he does the prision break, lets out all the big bads and trys to become a kell on the same level much like his sister is; and hold on to the reef with sheer power. but when he kills cadye, he fucks that all up bc we kill him at the end of forsaken story.... again my opinion not fact. i believe durring this event something happens like we find out something from the dying uldren that his sister is alive and in the dreaming city and some of the barons we didnt kill in the story are going to the dreaming city to kill mara while she is alseep to make sure she doesnt come back into power and they can rule themselves. my guess is they use uldren and throw him under the bus and thats how we get our vengence. so durring the raid we go to sleeping city to save mara and at the end of the raid she wakes up. again all my opinion, i feel this has all been set up by mara sov and eris morn. i believe that in the taken king the queen is talking to eris morn at the begining of the game and at the end eris is talking to the queen. eris other known ally is osiris who bum bum bummmm can look into multiple time lines past present and future. i believe he gave eris morn a prophecy of sorts or some glips into the future and since then she has been doing all she can to stop the prophecy or make it come true depending on the nature of the information he gave her. also side note i dont know if it has ever been said or not but i also believe that eris morn is awoken which is why she is so loyal to the queen. i believe that at the end of the raid we meet eris morn again and that she returns to the city as a vendor or what have you in preparation to the next expansion which will be our fight against the darkness more importantly what ever woke up when the traveler woke up and exploded at the end of destiny 2 main story missions, you know those giant triangle dark ships. i believe that is what eris and osiris and mara and rasputin have all been prepping for the big end to destiny 2 and maybe the game in general. that is the one thing that pulls all of the expansions together, curse of osiris, warmind and forsaken have all in preparation to fight fight what ever woke up at the end of destiny 2 main story. any way thats my opinion i know its long and im not even sure if you or any one will read this but there you go heard it first from me phi_lamb908 psn 7/31/2018 :)
Not lore related but the sealed ahamkaras grasps doesn’t have a chance to reload, melee damage reloads your currently equipped gun every time. Pretty solid perk, especially with the ikelos shotgun. Also, great video and now I am hyped even more
Scars could also reference emotional scars, which would fit Eris. She is very emotional person and in tune with her feelings. This is obvious in all her dialog, even more so in her very last cut scene of the taken king where she gives a hint she is working with the queen. Is Eris Awoken?

"Ten thousand dying wishes". Sounds to me like the slaughter of the Ahamkara.
A conflict between Dynastis! Best idea ever, imagine Cayde death is a bystanding scenario for a bigger one. Of uldrin getting an army for the conflict between hives and awoken. We want revenge but we get in a conflict and how we are gonna solve it, the Nines being confronted by the Queen and make them fellows or enemies, The hive queen getting the same power as oryx, maybe she is with the darkness and they give her more power. Calus trying to make something aginst the upcoming darkness, making an alliance. we are living the conflict!
I wonder if there is a living wish dragon somewhere in the Reef, since the city and the reef were not on speaking terms during the great hunt, it would be very much like the queen to allow such a creature into her territory. If a Wish Dragon was backing her during taken king's first fight she could have survived anything.
At 16:53, I seriously theorize that "the slaughter" refers to The Great Hunt, in which most if not all of the Ahamkara are killed by the Guardians (as said by Byf earlier in the video). By saying this, I also theorize that The Nine are the last nine Ahamkara in the system. This makes sense when The Nine say "OUR CHILDREN" when the slaughter is spoken about. It makes even more sense when The Nine say "TEN THOUSAND DYING WISHES", as the Ahamkara are commonly referred to as Wish Dragons, and killing one could be called a dying wish. Just some thoughts from a Hunter.
Maybe The Nine's children could also be the Harbingers? Don't know a lot of lore surronding them but maybe they were a gift to the queen or something?
